And you might call it stock brokering others might call it identifying grassroots talent and promoting youth

I signed all of my players based on their FIFA stats, not on their TM potential. I'd rather see players on my team who I enjoy watching, than players I don't care about and am just waiting for a lawyers offer to move on from.Renege wrote:I’ve only signed 3 players purely on rating and who I don’t think will go up in value on TM as it is anyway.
Takefusa Kubo is a prime example. I love that kid, he's a wizard midget with a killer left foot and I could have had a 70 rated player there, who I could have sold and replaced with another 70 rated player. And so on. But I'll literally never sell Kubo, even when this league is seeing Griezmann vs Messi.

That implies you are promoting youth to actually play them.

You are .. eventually. If they're likely to get TM increases they'll probably end up in the game!

There's a guy at work who puts apostrophes whenever he adds an s to a plural word. It drive's me crazy.

Budgets updated in my tracker
Going forward, if making a domestic transfer, please can you confirm the player's TM value in the post on the confirms page - makes it easier for me rather than checking back pages etc

Re: FIFA Challenge League Homepage II
Can't say I'm too keen tbh, mainly due to the fact there's a ratings cap and its potentially a way of exploiting it.
Obviously its aimed at youth players who would have a low rating if they were in the game, however it would also open up the opportunity of signing a player like Paqueta who would clearly be above the current cap.
Whilst his TM value would prevent his acquisition this season I'm sure there will be similar scenarios later on down the line when everyone has more money to play with. Besides I don't see the harm in just waiting until your target is in the game and has a set rating.

Bam - I have corrected the Vadaine Oliver value on my sales. You gave me £450k for him, which was very kind, but I only sold him for £45k

In the Paqueta scenario I'd say that the player then remains ineligible to play until he is within the league's rating cap

This is where the foolproof spreadsheet fails thanks Afro
I had also got Azzy paying 450k for someone who he actually paid 45k for, and was wondering why he was in negative budget till I went back and checked

The other thing I'd say is that on all the lawyers, and on my own releases I have always rounded to the nearest £1k, whereas your file doesn't. Therefore it is throwing up budget differences due to rounding

On a separate note
Tactics are in, the Torpedo is back and we're sporting an all 70 outfield. Bring on Cheltenham

Hadnt thought of that TAB good point.
And i’d rather have players I know and have heard of Azzy, only Sparv I’ve signed that I hadn’t heard of. Had heard of Kubo because of the Barca palaver though!

On a similar note to the Paqueta example, what happens if we sign a player under the ratings cap but on the next update they are above the cap?

Personally I think it can wait till players are available in the game.
But I'm against the stock market league style and have been for a long time. It's why I favoured FIFA values rather than tm to run the league.

We have said that if they are under when you sign them, but then go above, that is fine. You just can't sign them above the cap.

On a similar note, I had my eye on a player who was 70 rated at the time of our game version (30/10/2018) but has this week risen to 71
Assuming he can no longer be signed?

Re: FIFA Challenge League Homepage II
That's right. Although we are currently running game version from 30th October, the update could be applied anytime (whether by accident by Hero's kid, or because Hero has time to do squads). Therefore the ratings applied for the purposes of the cap is the latest one.

Cool thanks for clarifying
Although on the basis he's a 40 year old GK I'm perplexed as to how he's managed to achieve a ratings rise

So on Friday I was offered my dream job. Today I turned it down. When some of you guys grow older and have families of your own, I hope you come to realise like I have that an extra £10k and a better job mean nothing if you get 33% less holiday and have to work an extra 5 hours per week.
Family means the world.

I actually took a pay cut and gave up a final salary pension in order to work 15 minutes from home, rather than 1 hour and 15 mins.
My current company did try and give me 20 days holiday, when I was on 25, but basically said I would only move if they matched it. Since then, I have successfully managed to get them to up everyone elses holidays to 25 as well

20 days holiday is very mean. Fair play Azzy, I'm still a corporate lackey for the foreseeable, but eventually I would love to be in a position to be able to turn something down for quality of line

20 days holiday is a statutory minimum allowed, so that's what they gave. Anything to save a buck

The legal minimum is 28 days, but that can include Bank Holidays. I get 41 currently.

Re: FIFA Challenge League Homepage II
Get 27 plus bank holidays which is a few more than my last job and feels like a big difference. So losing a third of your holidays would be huge!
Also got another 3 additional ones because of the hours I had to work which is the real issue and why their generous with holidays. Not worth it for long term. Could do with a lend of that boat

I get 25 plus bank holidays which I think is fairly average. Most I work with get 20 plus bank hols which is the statutory min (5.6 weeks), but now will get an extra 5 from Jan thanks to me.
Think they should all give a day each as a thank you would then give me half the year off.

I’ve no problem with Hero’s idea, but probably think the proviso should be that they can only enter the game if they are 70 or below when added.
