I am inclined to agree with some of the comments regarding the foreign transfers system. I have a proposal to improve the foreign transfers:

Each week, everyone makes their two bids via PM to somebody. Say it opens on a weekend, running till Tuesday night.
Even a 24 hour period would work to be honest.
They bid a maximum amount they would pay for the player.

If nobody else bids for the same player, then they get them at TM price.
Should there be multiple bids, the highest gets the player.

Nah first come first served is the best way imho. Just choose a time we can all agree on for foreigns to open.

Leave it as is, it’ll be easier for any new members at 9am too and I’m the only one getting annoyed about it.

It’s a minor gripe of the ones I have, but losing Grady for some reason has wiped a lot of enthusiasm from me. I’m just gonna give up on worrying about competing at get in players I like.

I’ve calmed down by reading Ian Wright’s Players Tribune piece, a worthy google for anyone who wants a good piece of humbling, sporting sentiment.

I mildly agree with Trebs point. I’d still have been screwed if Marky had bid much, but it does make it more gentlemanly

I think the reason that the league works is that it is kept simple and the work involved is minimal.

First come first served, TM values and set windows has its limitations, but works well enough because it is simple and doesn't need a person collating.

To change to Treb's system, someone would have to be prepared to put the time in, and commit to doing it every week.

I'd rather keep as is for the record, and that's having twice missed out of targets in the last two weeks because I was doing league tasks rather than my own transfers

I'd quite happily do that to improve the fairness of the league.

Personally I think it will just over complicate things and I don't have time to do PMs and what not. Barely having time in my lunch to upgrade squad and get foreigns etc. Case in point is I wanted to do tactics this arvo too and I have been called away.

Like Afro, I have missed out on a couple (Matt Turner being one last week when I needed a GK). Part of the game. Please don't change it around now. It is fair in as much as this is how it has always been.

Just a note to this, in the new year I can get a lot of stuff done and ready like Press Conferences, Lawyers and Injuries before any of you even wake up.

Dolph if you did want to host games at any point you're welcome to btw, just be aware it's quite a lot of legwork to move all the players about etc.

I honestly don’t see how a PM is any harder a task than copy and pasting names into 3 different pages.

It would have worked in your favour for Turner as I didn’t really care and would have conceded and let you have him. I’m less likely to sell him in the week as I then have to use a transfer to replace him

After saying it before, I actually think I’m on a different update. Which I found out after I’d done a few pages of transfers. I was only doing it as a backup plan anyway, in case you had technical issues or wanted to have a life.

The reason why it wouldn't work is because of timing.

Sometimes I want to sign a player to play that week so do it early. And then other times I want to wait until after the game, so that I can play a player, accept a lawyer and then sign a replacement.

I think the pm thing over complicated things without much need. Having an opening time that works for everyone is all I think is needed

Doesn’t make sense that anyone would bid higher than Tm value at this stage as don’t think anyone’s going to be overly desperate for certain players seeing we’ve already had a chance to sign 11/13 now

If free agents were cheaper and budgets had been a little more weighted to level up on the discrepancies, I’d have had Grady weeks ago.

This would be even worse if I was still teaching in England anyway, I wouldn’t have been able to get on at 9am or during the day at all. School internet restrictions are pretty tight and I couldn’t have stopped my kids in the mornings to finalise a transfer. “The spelling test can wait, I need a new defender and this Japanese lad is dirt cheap on transfermarkt”

When you update, Hero, tell me and I’ll do it too. I think I’ll have moved into the flat by then too and the internet will be new rather than this general one I’ve got here. Internet in this country is absolute toilet.

It's just an extra step and I have got it down to a fine art doing all my business in 40mins. If people nabbed someone before I get chance then that's the name of the game. Not going to complain.

If you guys used the spreadsheet that Bam did like me, then you would not need to have a transfer confirmation page etc. I only have to put post things there for admin, everything else is calculated for me on my team page.

I haven't read all the thread so may be missing something. But it doesn't make sense to change things around now.

I missed out on a player because some dirty Manc who's incapable of running his team without bringing in two a$$ clowns to pin blame on, signed my target at bang on 9am. If I'd been on time for work, I may have snuck past him, but it still rankles to this day #TrebsAndHisPlebs

I still stand by how we did it.

Given that in most cases, the players have been sold and replaced, weighting budgets would have advantaged the weaker teams as they would have had the cash already, whilst the bigger teams would have had to wait to get lawyers or releases

I'd have liked a medium ground on it with a % difference but it's made it even more of a challenge for me in the long term which I'm relishing, even getting a proper battering off Olly last week I don't mind as it then makes the hopeful end goal more rewarding.

Whilst its more of a challenge, its also what you make of it.

I didn't have that much more value in my team (£2.05m) than Macc(£1.51m), and almost the same as Cambridge (£1.98m).

I had the joint lowest overall FIFA rating with Macc and Crewe at 60

Up until now I have played 3 teams who started on a higher starting value and 1 who had the same starting value.

I haven't had particularly great lawyers (one week I accepted both, the rest I have accepted 1 per week).

And I'm doing well so far

There would’ve been no perfect way of doing it. Starting the same made sense

If they had been weighted it would’ve been other way round everyone would’ve wanted to start with the worse teams and bigger budget for an advantage at start rather than gaining a little by little throughout
