There are 7 more rounds of fixtures after the current one, so assuming the current round is completed on Monday, the last week would finish around mid-July

Shame as the league was really working. Just a lot of work on Hero's shoulders.
Anyone else got FIFA on XBox and willing to take over the games?
Ideally we would have a few people to spread the workload

Afternoon gents, I appreciate that this post was a while ago - and I am getting through the busiest time of the year for myself at work - but I would be happy to try and look at hosting/playing the FIFA games, if there was still interest.

For me we need to find a way of getting the fun of deals back. That takes precedence over whether it's tactics or fifa.
I did propose an idea for a league that didn't really get any traction, but if we could figure out an idea of loads of deals and fifa that would be awesome.

Would be good to get it resurrected. For me, it was by far the best league to have been involved in. The biggest problem was that it required so much from a single person.

It's the deals side which needs sorting. Needs to be players we actually know rather than randomers and some way of forcing domestics.

I don't think anyone would disagree with either. The idea of the Randomers was to start at a really low level and encourage a long lasting league. Didn't really work!!
In terms of forcing domestics, its the age old problem everyone has always agreed on, but we have never found the answer.

Easiest way to do more domestics is for Trebs to not keep buying crap players so other people would want them

Ah ha! Good to see all you people alive and well.
I had a thought about this over the summer as thought it might come up
Adding a 10% agents fee to foreign transfers which doesn't apply to domestics. In addition to this is that the agents fee then goes in a pot that you can only use for domestic transfers. So buying a 1m players actually costs you 1.1m as a transfer. This agent fee is put into a separate pot for you, so you have 100k to use towards a domestic. So really nothing changes......in reality you are still buying a 1m player for 1m, but now it is forcing you to allocate 100k in a domestic transfer only pot.

That would be worth a try, although playing Devil's advocate, people already have enough trouble keeping a budget up to date without adding an extra pot. But it is worth trying.
The biggest difficulty with domestics is that the selling manager will judge how much he needs to sell for to be able to replace with better in foreigns, so adds a premium. The buying manager then goes and buys from foreigns instead. So perhaps a cap on domestics prices, such as +10% of TM value
I think a successful league will be one with a smallish number of managers

You cannot force domestic transfers. Perhaps by having transfer windows you may, it worked relatively well in the old rugby leagues. But domestic transfer won't occur regularly.

You can encourage them though. If you had a pot that could only be used on domestics, then you might be encouraged to sell to put money in the non-domestic pot towards a foreign

Re: FIFA Challenge League Homepage III
I did more domestics than any other manager in this league - but I also have no issue with people who didn't do any. There's what, 250 players active in this league at any one time, but about 250,000 in world football? Why force domestics when there's tons of players we can buy?

Re: FIFA Challenge League Homepage III
I have no issue at all, but i think the problem arises that no domestics means the league losing activity. You end up doing your foreigns when it opens on a certain day and submit tactics on another day, but see no reason to be on the site at any other time.
I am not precious over that but i think there is a connection to that kind of mentality and leagues dying. You could argue though that is all you need to do.......you are still taking part in the important bits.
I do enjoy the dealing side of the league though. I thought the rough idea of a budget and then a proportion of that which can only be used on domestics could help

I think Domestics make for a more enjoyable game when their is a prospect of a deal. They should be enocouraged so that it doesn't just become a treadmill of accept lawyer, buy foreign, wait a week, repeat

Re: FIFA Challenge League Homepage III
That's the problem.
People think their own players will get a tm value rise and will hold onto them till that happens. My locked values idea would have worked if it was permanent but I couldn't get that through.
What about starting with the bottom 8/10 premier league sides as a starting point. Can we agree on that?
I still like my league idea
Can we combine that with fifa perhaps? Straight knockout tournament with 8 teams maybe?

Re: FIFA Challenge League Homepage III
The issue always is as well with a domestic compared to a foreign is that you're having to negotiate and that often the seller wants more than you value that player at, whilst with a foreign you know from the off how much the player will be.
There's no haggling, there's no overpaying, simple clean transaction and you come away not feeling you've lost face.

Re: FIFA Challenge League Homepage III
The way to address this in simple terms is to even them out, make the process the same for both domestics and foreigns.
So you either remove the haggling element from domestics, all players have a buy out clause.
Or to add a random haggling element to foreigns, how that is done I don't have the answer to.
