In the words of Peter Aliiss his missus gets a new kitchen.
Early on Tommy had a few chances but never got close enough.Couldnt help noticing the engraver busy as they finished 17 obviously never played the game .

I brought this up yesterday and agreed with Kwinis response that he may as well stick to what he has been doing.
But like super I hope Shane doesn't feel his career is complete and that he aims for further big wins. Which might require a slight to tweak to where and how he plays. He needs to master camping out in the top 50 for years at a time.
And super, come on his season is over. Shane should party until the play offs.

Re: The Open Championship 2019 - Shane Lowry!!!
He has plenty to play for the rest of the season, he's leading the Race to Dubai....he'd surely now want to win that? Also get into the tour championship should be another aim and get a good start for next year's Ryder Cup qualification (that starts this year right?)

His schedule a couple of years ago was nuts! But his objectives will have changed now - hope he's getting better advice.

Maybe this belongs in the other thread, but David Duval got a sponsors invite to play the Reno Tahoe event.
Fortunately for Duval, +19 would be a really good score in Round 1 of the Reno Tournament.
Not surprised that Shane has WDed from Memphis

They wont need it. They moved into a state of the art new build in Rathgar recently. Lovely house.

Re: The Open Championship 2019 - Shane Lowry!!!
I have to go on to the BBC website to get some semblance of the British news & sporting scene, but they're absolutely terrible at telling stories behind the headlines, especially if the story is from beyond England's green-and-pleasant or from what they clearly consider a minor sport.
But there is a nicely written story or two to be found if you strike lucky with your mouse, and love this about MacIntyre:
https://www.bbc.com/sport/golf/49039618
Along the same lines, there's also a nice remembrance from Paul Lawrie and the 20th anniversary of his Open win:
https://www.bbc.com/sport/golf/48961196
(Interesting what Lawrie has to say about Leonard as they were getting ready for the Play-Off.)
MacIntyre is now making the journey to Reno/Lake Tahoe - hope the PGA Tour gives him a grouping befitting of his recent achievements and not of his so-called "status".
EDIT:
Having mentioned MacIntyre's inclusion in the Reno field I see he's now withdrawn - not sure how that happens; presumably the Tour makes provision for a newly "qualified" player entry, informs the pro accordingly, then the player, in this case MacIntyre, courtesy of his Open Championship Top Ten, elects whether or not to take up the opportunity. Sounds like he'd rather be in Oban, and can't blame him there, especially as that can't be the easiest commute.

He lives off Orwell park road in Rathgar, not too far from you (and me). Maybe he has another house near Carton House.
He always eats in 2 Fifty Square in Rathmines.

Hope this isn't too offensive but I always pictured you as old enough to be Harringtons dad, not that your dad was young enough to have gone to school with Harrington.

Yes, that clan is well off. I once suggested we combine assets and then we'll both be rich.

Nice purchase. Its a nice spot. Barry Lyndon (by Stanley Kubrick) was filmed there.
Its very close to the K club where the Ryder cup was once held.

Re: The Open Championship 2019 - Shane Lowry!!!
Still haven't seen anything official on Lowry's reported defection from the WGC- Memphis . . . . .
Impressed by all the names from the sports pages fine print of my middle age who have tried to qualify for the Senior Open, a couple of Ryder Cuppers an ex tennis pro, and quite the list of Americans (and sites more distant) who look to have taken a busman's holiday to Lancashire and entered the qualie lottery - good for them.
No-one from Utica though, unless Shotrock is using a pseudonym.

Wonder who came up with this gem in years gone by, upon the occasion of Shane Lowry's overtaking Padraig Harrington as most highly ranked Irish golfer?
"Now we can clearly see the parlous and desperate state of Oirish golf. When your Number One player is Billy Bunter's doppelganger you know you're in trouble as a sporting nation."
Sorry supes, was googling something quite different and this gem sprang out. Bl00dy google!

Probably still a pretty good description and still Ireland haven't got many top sportspeople.

...that arent captaining England in cricket or winning the British open or being named current world rugby player of the year.
In ESPNs most famous global sports stars there are 2 Irish people in the top 20 but no one from England.
http://www.espn.com/espn/feature/story/_/id/23519390/espn-world-fame-100-2018#
Anyway most of Irelands top sports people you will have never heard of because they play gaelic games. However, just because you havent heard of them doesnt mean they arent very talented.

Strange that there have been no media updates today regarding the WGC-Memphis field, nothing on any of the usual quasi-official outlets. Wonder if Shane is not the only one to think that Memphis in July is not Plan A.
(Altho' it looks as if it will be warmer in London Town than it will be in Memphis, Tennessee, for the opening round anyway.)

You could make a case for most sports being stupid. I like MMA because its very competitive and the fighters are mostly fairly exceptional athletes. Its a real test of endurance and mental strength which I fine exhilarating to watch. Some of the pantomime and brutality make for fair criticism also. Conor McGregor is also a fairly dysmal human being.
I am also a big fan of the Crossfit games as well for the same reason. Its more of a case of whatever you are into really.

I am a teetotaler myself and sadly not that young. Ill gladly accept that McGregor is not a nice character though. Great fighter to watch but dogsh1t of a human being outside the ring.
