Forgot to ask, you alright up there, PJ? Seen some horror shots. Missus sent home pictures of Campbelltown earlier and it was just bright orange/red all over and they’ve had to shut schools again for safety tomorrow

All's good, thanks Dolph. You OK? It was quite hot on the plains today. Same tomorrow.
There was a dramatic red sunset with the two big out of control fires bellowing smoke across the sky. Both are about 35 miles away NW and SW of me. That SW one near Camden is not far from Campbelltown. Hope the wind doesn't pick up or blow in the wrong direction. Had some ash (a small leaf) land near my foot earlier. I went to touch it (to see if it was still hot) and it just disintegrated into grey powder.

Photos don't give proper justice to the actual colour of the sun. I have a better understanding of what a real star looks like now. Pretty bloody angry!
Pink ball cricket sunset... then it went a really nice crimson colour. More fine ash outside this morning. I'll hose down later.

It doesn’t seem to get so far as Wollongong, well not quite as much or as dramatically anyway. Worst I can see is that I’ve been sneezing more

Voted, not sure if I have voted on my own as I don't know which one was chosen...
I like this new factor as it gives a great excuse for voting on your own choice.

It feels like Tatooine. It's all yellow outside now. No sign of the sun... completely blocked out. I can see how plants might quickly die in an apocalyptic scenario. They all look sad and hunched over as they get covered in tiny ash particles. There's a bit of a nice breeze out there now though.

You want to get yourself a shotgun and a motorbike in case it is the apocalypse. Only a shotgun can properly stop a zombie.

Might have to ride out to the dam and set up a barricade. Grab some cans of petrol along the way. And some explosive charges if possible.

Morning Ricko. How was your weekend?
Still quite eerie here and it's going to be at least 40 degrees tomorrow.
Last day of Level 1 water restrictions. Level 2 starts tomorrow... so can only use a watering can.

Re: Music Section Morning Tea Society
My weekend was excellent thanks, as it was Mrs Dagless's B'day
I got stuck with the bill for taking her and her family out for food, but such is life, happy meals are not too expensive.
Also went to York Christmas Markets which were very nice.
Saw the volcano thing in NZ also, bad timing for the visitors, unless God particularly hated some of them I guess.

Yes, watching the volcano news too.
Think the Taylormen are in Wellington but one wouldn't want to have been peering into the vents at 2:11pm this afternoon.
Just hosed down the back yard area for the last time. Lots of fine black soot out there. $220 fine if someone spots me (after tomorrow) and reports me to the water authority.

If we get hosepipe bans here, everyone flips their shizz...
Doesn't happen much up North TBH, as you would imagine.
Windy here but nothing much of note.
I have just done my Christmas songs, though I expect people will be picking the same stuff a lot.

Not so bad that I can't smoothly double quote in a post. I was pretty hungover most of Saturday, but West Ham are yet to play so my weekend wasn't ruined. Feeling christmassy?

Christmas tree is up now, and now the Missus's Birthday is gone I can concentrate on Christmas.
In an unusual move both parents have told me what they want, which makes life a lot easier.

If you mean the Christmas quiz... thought I missed out on the first one.
Sent you a PM but like Galted, it was still in my outbox for a while. So I panicked and deleted it.

How's it going, Rick?
Only one more day until the vote. I bet most people are getting so fed up with it all... although I sort of like elections. It's a form of sport in a way. Although not pretty or fun to watch.

Re: Music Section Morning Tea Society
It is going well, cheers.
People seem to be getting more and more vocal the nearer it gets TBH, many of my friends who are generally apolitical, are quite vociferous on social media, it is quite odd, almost like a mob mentality thing.
Though it is not going to be over quickly as the fallout will be annoying, and the chance of a hung parliament or a tiny majority means there is going to be a lot in the air.
And then there is Brexit to come, or not... Ugh.
I guess you guys are viewing it with the morbid fascination that one gives to a cringey soap opera?

Yeah... I guess so. Like so many political situations these days it has gone beyond a joke and entered into the realm of some bizarre form of 'entertainment' which is, as you say, fascinating to the outsider.

The Christmas quiz is far more stressful than the GE. There'll be another election along soon enough but the Christmas quiz choices stick with you forever.
