Re: Music Section Morning Tea Society
Early morning post resurrection fist.
Been out digging up some clay in the yard to prepare for a garden.... and God I'm buggered! I had to come inside for a sit down and a cool drink.
It feels unseasonably warm but it's not that hot. Maybe I'm fighting a mild coronavirus infection? Either that or I'm just a little out of shape right now. I've got to get back into some form of exercise routine.
I'm not Stirling Moss or Tim Brooke-Taylor.

About time there was some mention of Sir Stirling Moss. A shame the petrolheads here didn't get round to it.

Guildford,
Nice to see you on here! I have an interesting story about Stirling Moss... in the years after his greatest performances but before he was knighted.
On my parent's honeymoon in the early 60s they were touring Mt Cook, or Aoraki as it is known by the locals. They had to cross a trestle bridge (which has since been replaced) over a gorge just before reaching The Hermitage. Just as they had got across, part of it fell away and tumbled down into the abyss. My father managed to park the car off to the side of the road and who did they see? None other than Mr Stirling Moss who was in NZ for a car race or some sort of motor car promotion... not exactly sure which one.
Apparently his jaw nearly hit the ground - as he was just about to cross the bridge himself from the Mt Cook side on his way back to Christchurch.
My parents exchanged a few pleasantries with him (saying they had just got married) and I'm told he was very impressed with my father's driving skills and wished them "a long and happy marriage". My parents got to where they intended to go (The Hermitage) but poor old Stirling had to stay a few more nights at the hotel before the bridge was repaired.

??? Too subtle for me I'm afraid...
I have a feeling I am missing something about this thread... I suspect it might be a bit of a initiates only place ?
Never mind. Having pitched my commercial for Free Solo I am probably off back to the cricket board...oh wait there isn't any cricket
Keep safe everyone...

It was to do with social distancing, more a weak joke than a subtle one.
There's not too much to this thread really, all you need to do is post occasionally to report that you're not any celebrity who's died recently.

Hi Alfie - I also wondered about that for a moment but concluded we both should have some credit with the 606 Bank!

All good cheers animals have re-taken the streets, and I now have an exercise bike.
I mean all animals is a bit of a stretch but some geese have moved into the complex grounds.

I am indeed, peej. Though having to make a case why some of the guys in my team should not be furloughed, which is a bit rubbish.
There is some strange stuff going on over there at the moment, group protests about the quarantine are one of the stranger things.
Things relatively calm over your way?

My cactus has started to flower again, first time in about 4 years, I suspect this has naught to do with Covid19 however.
I have been trying to vote for CC originals (or the ones I am guessing are from you guys) in the Covid cup.

I was too late to get my choices up on the board. Voted for The 606 (true) and The Sex One... just for the hell of it.
I think you're going to have a long hot summer - your cactus knows this. It's still warmish and dry here... 27 today and going to be 29 on Friday.

I watched Carry On At Your Convenience over the weekend.
Favourite scene is when the union guy Vic Spanner (Kenneth Cope) returns home for lunch and is confronted by his angry mother Agatha (Renée Houston) who really rips into him waving a sharp knife around his face and cursing him like there's no tomorrow.
They don't make humour like that nowadays.
