First topic message reminder :

Cover wise it's hard to look past Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley, not usually my kind of thing but the haunting beauty of his voice is a guilty pleasure, one of the weaker songs on his only true album to be fair.

I love that Prince solo and i've always got to the end and thought the exact same thing 'where the **** did his guitar go?', can't go wrong with a bit of Stevie Ray Vaughan but not a fan of Hendrix being covered, it's near impossible to get the guitar tone right to do him justice but SRV does an admirable job.

Super

Spotify only has any respectability because of the artists it has on the platform. Why should Neil Young help build a brand that then goes and wastes that reputation on someone spouting anti science during a pandemic?

Some of the claims made by Rogan.

Young people don't need a covid vaccine

’Ivermectin can drive this pathogen to extinction’

“I’m not gonna get vaccinated. I have antibodies, it doesn’t make any sense.”

Lockdowns ‘make things worse’

In what world is it petulant to disassociate yourself from things you believe to be harmful?

Correct me if im wrong Mac, but didnt the JCVI actually state that only children aged 5-11 who were in a clinical risk group or a household where someone else was should bother getting a vaccine?

You are wrong in the sense that Rogan was meaning people who are not over 65 as "young people". He counted himself as a fit young person.

That is ridiculous mac, he never said or meant that. His main thing is that adolescents might be at higher risk of myocarditis from the vaccine, but he fails to recognise that covid causes far more cases of myocarditis. CNN's doctor had ample opportunity to set Rogan straight on this point but didn't. An Australian guest (name escapes me) recently firmly pulled Rogan up on this.

Anything in Taylor Hawkins. Really good drummer, though must have been hard drumming in a bad with Dave Grohl. Who is immense as a drummer.

I love the foo fighters. Great songs.

On a separate note, I've had Alexa playing Faith no More, forget how good they are. Mike Patton is so talented.

Gonna be a Ghost Town tonight, can’t believe Terry Hall gone at 63. I know I’m getting old when my musical heroes of the 80’s start dying.

He wasn’t really old either was he Blue? He joins Jet Black from the Stranglers last week and also yesterday Martin Duffy from Primal Scream and the Charlatans. December is not a good month for musical heroes.

No 63 is no age JAS. Horace Panter confirmed Terry had pancreatic cancer which had spread to his liver, only diagnosed in October. One cancer you don’t want to get, only 5% of people survive more than 12 months from diagnosis and that figure has not improved in over 40 years. My Mum died of it, she passed away 11 months after diagnosis.

This should be retitled as an obituary column.
Used to love The Specials, never thought Terry looked very healthy though.

If this is turning into an obituary column, sad to hear about Barry Lane passing at only 62. I saw a short video of him hitting a few balls on the range at the end of November and he looked quite thin. Was it cancer that took him?

I think it was described as a "short illness" which is usually a more tactful way of saying stroke, cancer or heart attack.

Apparently he was in Mauritius in December to present the Barry Lane Trophy to the seniors tour rookie of the year. Guess that if the tour renamed the trophy it was on the cards.

Shame, 62 is too young and in that case probably cancer.

Watching Brian Harman work his (one and only?) major magic at Royal Liverpool inspired me to pull the "La's" CD off my shelf for another excellent one-time effort from Liverpool. Boy, I sure wish they didn't go off the rails. That album is epic.

Have you heard Cast Shotrock? That’s where John Power went after the LAs, their debut album All Change is such a listenable album.

Here's one for you, JAS. Just been listening to Marillion's 'F.E.A.R.' album. The lyrics for The New Kings are pretty on point...
