SURREY VS MIDDLESEX / SOMERSET/ GLAMORGAN/ SUSSEX/ HAMPSHIRE T20 VITALITY BLAST
England internationals Sam Curran, Tom Curran & Jason Roy are all named in a Surrey squad for the first time this season after serving their periods of isolation following an early return from the IPL.
Gareth Batty is expected to captain the side while pathway graduate Ben Geddes would make his senior debut for the Club should he be selected.
Rory Burns & Ollie Pope are unavailable as they prepare for the second Test with New Zealand, starting at Edgbaston on Thursday. Ben Foakes continues his recovery from the hamstring injury that ruled him out of that series.
Jade Dernbach and Liam Plunkett are both continuing on their back to bowling programmes while Reece Topley is out for up to six weeks due to a side strain.
There is no place in the squad for Gus Atkinson, Conor McKerr, Mark Stoneman or Amir Virdi
FULL SQUAD:
Gareth Batty (c)
Hashim Amla
Jordan Clark
Rikki Clarke
Sam Curran
Tom Curran
Matt Dunn
Laurie Evans
Ben Geddes
Will Jacks
Daniel Moriarty
Jamie Overton
Ryan Patel
Jason Roy
Jamie Smith
Don't understand the Dernbach situation he was fine on Monday to bowl four overs and end up as our best bowler
Dunn, Geddes, Patel and maybe Clarke to carry the drinks.
Fingers crossed Amla doesn't slow down the run rate
Over to you chaps

I reckon you're spot on with the four to miss out.
Please, please, please can we start this campaign with a win instead of having to play catch up later on as we've often had to do in recent times.
Btw, heard that Atkinson - who did well in some t20 games last season - has a back injury and is probably out for the season. That would explain why he hasn't been playing for a while although the Club have said zilch.

someone at the club must have read your message Guildford
Nico Reifer is unavailable due to hand injury sustained recently while playing Second XI cricket earlier this month.
James Taylor is unavailable due to a side strain sustained while playing Second XI cricket in May and, latterly, a viral illness.
Nick Kimber is continuing to recover from a recent viral illness.
Gus Atkinson is continuing to recover from a recent knee injury and, latterly, a viral illness

I understand Amla is fit and his absence is nothing to do with injury. It's a bold decision for sure. However, I can understand him being left out. Although still a classy batsman, he's not a big hitter, is slow between the wickets and poor in the field. If he was going to be axed though, I would have expected Geddes or Patel to come in.

Reminds me (albeit not as bad) as when we played a t20 and one of our U15s had figures of 0-0-2-0 - and couldn’t bowl anymore, two waist high full tosses and whipped out the attack!

A good win obviously last night but I'm still not convinced the balance was right. I would bring in Geddes for Dunn.
Somerset will be a tougher outfit than Middlesex for sure.

The England white ball stuff starts on 23rd June, so providing they are selected I would imagine they’ll play the three games next week and then that’ll be that

Another good win, slow bowling really is our strength, we need to recognise that! Outrageous knock from Roy, good from Evans, and well marshaled by Smith at the end

For sure. Much to her disgust, I can still tell Mrs Bat the England and Rest of the World sides from the series here in 1970 but not where I put the car keys half an hour ago. Can normally just about remember where the car is though!

Very much as Goochie says. From early on in our innings, it always seemed that Glamorgan needed to take at least one more wicket and bowl a dry over to get back in it. Fairly comfortable in the end.
I agree with Goochie and Olly that slow bowling is the way for us to go (usually at least anyway) and that Batty should have bowled his full allocation. I do feel he mixes up the bowling a bit too much. Whilst keeping the batsmen wondering is understandable, there's also benefit in letting a bowler keep his rhythm and hopefully exploit things when he's on top.
Just to add - Smith kept well, nothing flashy but consistently reliable. Also, for such a big guy, Overton is surprisingly nimble and pulled off some fine boundary stops.

Only 5 overs but still some good entertainment. The Mills over consisted of a dropped catch, 3 sixes and 2 fours all struck by Jacks together with a couple of wides.
However, even topping that, was the catch and celebration of 16 year old Archie Lenham (great name) to dismiss Roy. Superb take running backwards at speed. I don't think it's on the Surrey site but it is on the Sussex site and rightly bigged up there. I can't attach from here but well worth a look.

Yeah, but 8 points out of 10 is much better than where we usually are. Also, maybe a chance to see your boy Geddes.
