Whisper it, but there are rumours that Malakai Fekitoa is longing for a black pudding supper and a pint of Tennants as his after match refuel in the near future.

DW playing his cards close to his chest on that one, merely saying, 'there are some exciting conversations going on about recruitment'
Having just off loaded 2 Scottish International centres, maybe we have room for an ex all black, soon to be Tongian one?

Not sure signing Fekitoa is s great idea. He's not been value for money for Wasps and the high profile signings of expensive players towards the end of their careers generally hasn't gone well.

Re: Glasgow and Edinburgh - Unceasing Banter Thread 27
Considering the success bringing Cammy Hutchison in at Edinburgh from Super Six/Stade Nicoise, surely we can find another diamond in the rough? McDowall never really kicked on to become a top operator though O Smith could move to 13 and Robbie McCallum in the academy got good write-ups in the Super Six.
Not sure Fekitoa is what we need to push us from playoff contender and a difficult but beatable side in Europe to a genuine threat to win it all. We really need someone who is a vocal leader and can demand performances week in, week out and centres are not usually the types to do that (Baritt at Sarries may be one who managed).
A hard as nails lock or lock/BS such as Negri (Treviso) or Snyman (Munster) would be interesting and may not break the bank. Strangely, Negri has a connection to Scotland as his mother is the godmother of one David Denton.

Re: Glasgow and Edinburgh - Unceasing Banter Thread 27
MF is only 29, so not quite as has been as a few of our other, somewhat less succesful, ex AB signings over the years.
His stated desire to play for Tonga at the next WC might also bring down his market value whilst also keep him interested in keeping playing at the highest level.
The Glasgow backline, with the departure of Griggs and Horne, does look short of a centre as well. The younger players, wholst having potential, are not necessarily going to be ready to step into that gap..
Is he the player we need? That msy depend on his price and what DW feels about his desire to play for the team. Wasps has maybe not been the best of environments for him to show his real form these past couple of years but his class is obvious, the question is really whether the desire is still there?

Agree with both Hazel and Gee in part and disagree in parts.
McDowall never really kicked on still a bit too early to say this. We all know he has lots of potential, but remember when we signed Griggs and Johnson they took a long time to become regulars in the side. Stafford may still be at that stage in his career.
We really need someone who is a vocal leader I think Dempsey is the sort of forward you're alluding to.
As for Gee's point; we have had a few AB's who never really contributed too much on the field, although one or two who, seemingly, helped drive standards off the field. Mind, Sean Maitland is arguably our best signing and certainly our best Kiwi signing.
No doubt Furra Linee and Squiggsy will be sorely missed.

I see Blairhorn has signed on again for Edinburgh.
A player of immense promise, who has not quite lived up to the hype so far. Hopefully he will knuckle down now and show us the player he could/should be. It would help of course if it could be worked out by him or his team managers, just where his best position is!

TBF if you watch his highlights reel this season he has actually done very well at 10. That's playing not exactly the most intense games in the URC however - real test will come at a higher level.
Worth noting he probably gets some of the biggest hangtime in world rugby with his restarts!

What do you call the Glasgow unwashed, now they’ve all had lynx Africa boxes for Christmas?

A ‘Glasgow shower’ is a term often used on stag do’s and tours I’ve been on! Drop your bags and a quick ‘Glasgow shower’ and hit the bars! (Newport shower is probably more apt in fairness, but I didn’t invent the term!).

Us Newportonians would at least have a spray of the said lynx gift pack first. Balls to the shower
We are not posh though. Just slightly more upmarket!

Having kids was a game changer. A few of the baby’s wet wipes in the hold-all for a weekend away with the boys. Quick wet wipe of the pits on arrival, optional Lynx Africa spray, shirt back on..... then out on the toon!

Jimbo must win “playing comeback of the year”? Or is it still the “Lazarus” award?
The whole Glasgow team win “biggest bunch of cowering jessies” for not once, but twice weaselling out of playing against the rugby team.
Wee Weir the meatball surely wins the “ahhh see, you missed me” award.

Tiger, which of my rapier like responses to your leaden footed fumbling was the comeback of the year?
When the Perfumed ones get their comeuppance we shall revisit your foolishness.
Apparently they wanted Wee Dunky to be captain and lead the team out to Gary Glitter singing "Did you miss me? YEAH!"

Anyone have any idea when the games will be played?
Bet some hoop in the URC thinks it’ll be good to play them during the 6ns window.

tiger, I sincerely hope it isn't played during the 6Nations...we might end up with yourself at tight head for the Luvvies and GC masterminding things at 10 for the rugby club. I know he'd still be in his iron lung but Gee could push him around the field.
Too soon?

I’ve been picked at tight head for Edinburgh against the unwashed. Though I am naturally an 8 but the coaches son wanted to play there so I got moved to 2nd row and prop.
It may or may not be too soon for GC and his iron lung to play at 10 for the unwashed.
We have a wing spot free if you like. Don’t worry about getting back to Oz after, we’ll arrange a medical exemption for you. Oh wait.
However, dirty rumours were going about that Scotland vs England could be played in Newcastle. These are very dirty rumours though and it looks like the game vs England will be at Murrayfield, home of the proper rugby team, after all.
I do think it may be played with 50% capacity but given it’s a sell out how do you decide gets to go and who doesn’t??? Could end up being full and covid be dammed.

Re: Glasgow and Edinburgh - Unceasing Banter Thread 27
Some better news for the Scottish club sides, with Nicola dropping the isolation period in Scotland to Seven days from 10. bringing them into line with the other home nations. That should mean more players being available this weekend and will help going forward, as it seems likely we will get another outbreak at some point.
I hope the 6N goes ahead as planned, not least of all because we have got a trip to Italy planned.

What's the take on the Novax Djokovic situation down under RDW.
I don't have any sympathy for him or his predicament, but he has also been royally stitched up by the Auusie politicians, who seem to be able to tell which way the wind was blowing.
Getting the plane home may be preferable to getting booed off the court each time he plays for the next two weeks in any case!

Re: Glasgow and Edinburgh - Unceasing Banter Thread 27
This refusal to be vaccinated is absolutely insane. There, I said it.
We aren't talking about terrified 5 year olds who can't look at the needle. These are grown adults who just need to give up 2 minutes of their time to take something which a growing percentage of the world (generally speaking) have subsumed into their bodies with no adverse impact at all.
I've had 2 x Sinopharm and 2 x Pfizer shots now and I'll take as many as I need to keep doing the travelling and Not Dying thing that I want to do.

Effin LOL.
Novax Djokovic is a brilliant nickname
I have no sympathy for him either. I fully support anyone who feels they should not have to take the vaccine as it is their right to do so.
However they need to respect that it is the Ozzie people’s right to therefore not let them into the country for not having it.
If there was evidence to show there was an sinister side to the vaccine I’d understand also. But there isn’t. So why folk won’t take them is beyond me.
Anyway. GC, you ready to play 10 for Glasgow? BigGee is team physiotherapist that day and apparently jimbo is trying to get Schitz to play 6

Tiger, you said the Luvvies had drafted you as " second row and LH". How many mince pies have you eaten?
Bru could be our 10. He thinks a good game and he has a girlfriend.
If it's touch I might play. I didn't mind the patchwork bruised torso look, very Ragnar Lothbrook, but the three or four days when my morning pee looked like Newkie Brown has made me finally grow up. Possibly.
If the Exeter Glasgow game goes ahead and I catch up with Tattie Scones I'll sign him up to playc12.

I don’t actually like nor eat mince pies. Christmas or meat variety
I have though eaten wayyyyy too much turkey and chocolate (not at the same time) so even Shoemann could struggle to shunt me back in a scrum right now.
I do miss playing. The thought of an Edinburgh vs Glasgow touch game is very appealing

I feel that touching the rippling torsos of strapping athletes probably appeals slightly more to the Luvvies. The Warrior types on here see the game as a necessary prelude to the clubhouse bar afterwards.

Also, touch? Pipetto must play. He'll be my runner.

There are two rumours seeping out from Sandy Park. First, Wee Jonny is deemed surplus to requirements from the end of this season. Second, Rob Baxter is having nocturnal emissions dreaming about Scott Cummings.
Would we like to see the Lesser Gray back in Glasgow? Sure.
Would we swap Scott Cummings for him?
That would be an ecumenical question, Ted.

I'm absolutely delighted he's been refused entry, but I do feel like it's gone waaaaaay too far now and has become a completely avoidable Circus. Lots of arse covering happening between the ATA, border force and politicians about how he was granted a medical exemption yet no one actually checked it until he'd actually arrived in the country. I get that's normal process with visas (I e. It's up to you to get the right one - border force then enforce it) but surely they could have foreseen this happening?

He might have got away with it had he just slipped into Australia without a fanfare, but crowing about it on social media prior to leaving was never going to be a good idea and guaranteed to put lots of noses out of joint.
He has only got himself to blame really. He has made a bit of a fool of himself really.
As a rule though, anti vaxers do seem to be causing all of us problems and maybe people are just running out of patience with them. It seems to be a bit of a problem in professional sport generally.

Re: Glasgow and Edinburgh - Unceasing Banter Thread 27
Exeter are hard pressed to the cap but losing J Gray after Skinner and Hill would almost seem careless. That is probably close to their 3 first choice locks and Lonsdale is apparently being pursued by Dragons. I can imagine Christ Tshuniza (not sure I spelled that correctly) who Wales capped is probably being sounded out as well. Not sure how many locks would be left in Exeter.
For Glasgow, J Gray for Cummings is not a terrible exchange as the Grays in combination work well together. McDonald and JP Du Preez would be a good fit as a partner to J Gray if it is about having tall beanpoles next to him (maybe a reminder of his time growing next to Al Kellock).
It is a weird position to be in, but Glasgow have actually turned over the squad quite nicely after the debacle last year. Now if they can get 1 or 2 more of the youngsters to come through (Walker, Jackson, Brown, Smith), we are not far off giving Ulster and Munster a run for second.

As for antivaxxers, I don't get it. I would remove restrictions entirely and let nature take its course but unfortunately there are people who physically can't take the vaccine and would get exposed in a wave.
I have sympathy for Djokovic having to suffer through tweedle dee not talking to tweedle dumb and being told to travel only to be rejected; I have no sympathy for him refusing the vaccine.

Both the Scottish sides looking dangerous there. I can't see either Welsh team taking anything from this weekend other than bruises.
Ritchie, Bradbury, Haining, Watson, Fagerson, Darge and Gordon should all be in the mix come the 6 Nations.Amazing to think that Hamish and Mbawza would be the third and fourth choice 7's. The only reason it's not fourth and fifth is that Batman has re-retired from international rugby.
I think that the Glasgow 23 for Exeter will be this one with Dempsey in for either Batman or the Mullet, and Dobie might shade Hornito for the bench spot. McLean probably needed to feature tomorrow to make the squad so it'll be Walter! Fifuksake or Cancilculture for the bench. interesting that Miotti doesn't seem to be in the frame at all. (i know he's listed as unavailable but he's hardly made an impression since he first sampled the delights of Irn Bru and deep fried pizzas.
Can't wait for tomorrow. How strange is it that I'll be watching Glasgow on the tellybox in front of an empty stadium and next week I'll be in a sold out Sandy Park watching them? We live in interesting times indeed.
p.s. happy New Year Oh festering One. Where have you been? Mustique for a month? Painting drab watercolours in a Spanish villa? Or burning down orphanages just to get a light for your Cuban cigars?

And another one, this time Bennett gases another prop and puts a superb pass out to Moyano
12-0 Edinburgh
Cardiff need to stop trying to mark centres with props!

It's tough for them to be fair, first game for ages

6 weeks I think they said in commentary. Don’t want to make excuses though. But yes, they seem to be struggling!

Edinburgh making it look ridiculously easy
This time its Lang going over for the BP, great pass from Kinghorn to Ritchie to make the space
27-3 Edinburgh
Kinghorn starting to look like a proper FH
