It's a shame he's never had a sniff really as he is probably the most physical BS in England. Imagine lining him up with Curry/Underhill and Billy! I always assumed he lacked the pace around the park to step up without ever really checking the stats.

I agree with GF that it will probably be Lawes or Hill instead of Ewers, but that's a side you could get behind.

May, Radwan and Marchant in the back line looks to be pretty rapid. Not that Steward looks to be a slouch - but those 3 (if given the space) could cause a lot of teams issues.

Like Radwan needs any space!
I'm not so sure on May's pace these days, he seems to have gone down a level or two.

Interesting, as the reports say he's posting some of his fastest times at the moment.

Well i think May v LRZ is the battle over 100m...in a straight line.
Radwans pace is different. Ive said before hes more like Jason Robinson.
Over 40m...or in a telephone box you wont touch them...but in 100m...they probably wouldnt be the quickest.

It appears that Randall was injured in that paddleboarding activity in Jersey , declared fit and then knackered it in training....and clubs arent very happy about it. Another player injured in Eddies camp.

Hasn't the thing about May come about from 2 televised games where Radwan and Rees-Zammit have done him for pace with him defending? Tbf any winger with good pace (and obviously these 2 are lightning) when attacking will fancy their chances no matter how fast the defender is. Certain moments stick in the mind though.

Re: England: Autumn Internationals
Its a good set of complimentary wingers for England with May and Radwan.
Watson offers something different too with a strong step and good areal and kicking game.
Cockanasinga (if he ever gets back) offers that brute carrying game and pace that we used to have in Cohen
and then the younger guys like Lynagh, Malins, Freeman all offer something a bit different.
Would be interesting if Odogwu gets looked at again when he is fit.

He was certainly carving it up for Wasps before he broke. I really hope he gets that form back. He would be a huge England asset.

Posted on another thread a few weeks back.
Sgt_Pooly wrote:WELL-PAST-IT wrote:I saw somewhere over the weekend that May has been recording some of his fastest ever times for 100mm, now he has had a good break and a full pre-season he might give us the May we used to know and an even quicker one.
Read something earlier about Radwan on this. He's officially England's fastest ever player over 100m, clocking 10.6 seconds over 100m.
He's also posted the fastest top speed in the Prem (current players) with 10.88m/sec. LRZ's best effort is 10.5m/s but was over 18months ago, so suspect he may have improved. Christian Wade is apparently the fastest on record in the Prem with a 11.1m/sec.
I once clocked a less impressive 0.3m/sec going to the fridge for another beer for those interested.

Daily Fail has Steward at 15 and May & Marchant on the wings....no Radwan. Ewels & Itoje 2nd row, Lawes at 6, Curry at 8 and Underhill at 7. Dombrandt on the bench. Hopefully we at least see Dombrandt and Radwan given a decent spell otherwise how will we ever find out if they are made of the right stuff?

Re: England: Autumn Internationals
Hhmmm if that's true then a few weird ones there!
Marchant on the wing is not going to get the best from a 13 who covers there (to a high level) for his club. Ewels playing full stop is just a waste of a shirt. Lawes at 6 has been done to death and imo just isn't great, Curry at 8 is another player out of position when he could be in his position with the best 8 in the league playing at 8 for England.
All sounds depressingly believable.

On a brighter note, hyped to see Steward at 15 and more of Smith at 10. Two players who if they get on the same page could do so much damage to opponents for another decade or more.

I'm a big fan of Steward defensively he's excellent and his attacking game is coming on. For me he's got to dial in his kicking, if he can do that then he'll become a force internationally. He's a guy who can comfortably kick the length of the pitch but with that he has a tendency to kick too long and kick it dead. He starts dialling this kicks in with the 50/22 rules and he has the potential to be a massive asset.
Given the lack of England backs who are willing to run a line to give the flyhalf an option his inclusion is welcome. Got to be giving Smith some options to work with. The combination of the two in attack is something I'm looking forward to seeing.

Re: England: Autumn Internationals
Unsure whether to post this on an old Lions thread but I got my knuckles rapped as it's apparently against the rules but this does touch upon England a bit to in relation to Farrell: https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2021/nov/03/louis-rees-zammit-british-and-irish-lions-wales
It's an ever ongoing thought that England lack leadership and Farrell in particular is lacking and pales in comparison to the likes of Jones. It seems to focus on him not switching tactics on the pitch (like all the other captains do so obviously....). Think this is another example though of a team mate who is not a permanent team mate and who doesn't have an ongoing agenda etc of them saying what a leader the guy is. Also the comment of him being a laugh and nice off the pitch which after some comments from Genge this week adds another tick to the box.
Should also add that did anyone hear Jones' comments on the first name on the team sheet: Curry.
Just seen a snippet of a Youngs' quote that England wasted 80% of their point scoring chances in the 6Ns. No wonder (tempting fate before the announcement) that Jones is looking for a refresh and more pace on the game.

I guess it all depends on who they think this person had contact with and if they decide they need to isolate.

This theoretically shouldn't have as much impact on the game as it would have have in 6Ns etc. Advice now is that if you have had both doses of vaccine you don't have to isolate unless you have symptoms. That means only the idiots who listen to Gillian McKeith should miss out: guess we see how many fools are like Slade?

Feck...
Assuming concerns over Smith's injury. - and the rumors were correct over the back row.
Nice to see Radwan and Steward starting though - and that center combo is potentially very good

Well it is an Eddie squad...
-Four locks in the squad again (being slightly facetious by calling Lawes a lock).
-Our best openside at 8.
-Highest performing 10 on the bench.
I suspected that the Tonga game would see our 'full strength' team, I'd get used to seeing this line-up, it will be with us for the duration of November...

Re: England: Autumn Internationals
Not so much head exploding as a bit of disappointment. Hopefully Eddie will provide some context for his lineup. Most of the names we wanted to see, barring injury or illness, are in the 23, just not so much in the XV. Let's see how he uses people. If certain subs get only 10 minutes, then we know their status at the bottom of the greasy pole.Cumbrian wrote:lostinwales wrote:ENGLAND XV STARTERS

Re: England: Autumn Internationals
Sigh. Best thing that can be said is that Radwan and Steward start and that Smith isn't lumbered with Youngs. Hopefully Mitchell, Dombrandt and Smith come on together.

Well Slade is missing which is a plus.

Also interesting that Furbank is one of the subs not Marchant. May also be an indicator of concerns over Smith (we have a 3rd guy who can fill in at 10)

Re: England: Autumn Internationals
Smith needs to get used to playing with Youngs as the latter is going nowhere.
Not a fan of Slade at all but perhaps his inclusion is somewhat forced with the niggles. Backrow balance the less said the better, insane.
And then I spy Furbank at 23.....
