Ireland Tour of New Zealand 2022
First topic message reminder :
In addition to three tests, Ireland are playing 2 non-test matches against NZ Māori. Farrell plans to take an expanded squad as a result that will allow him see a few other non-regulars perform. The newer ones may only be required for the 2 NZ Māori matches
Assuming current injuries allow some players to travel, the touring squad will likely include most of the 6N picks plus some more - up to say 42 players.
Ireland will likely win two of the matches and things will likely go to the third test to decide matters.
Forwards 22
7 Props - Furlong, Porter, Bealham, O’Toole, Loughman?
3 Hookers - Sheehan, Herring, Heffernan?
6 Locks - Ryan, Henderson, Beirne, Baird, Treadwell, J McCarthy?
6 B/rows - VdF, Conan, Coombes, Doris, O’Mahony, Timoney? Prendergast?
Backs 20
4 SH Gibson-Park, Murray, Casey
4 10s Sexton, Carbery, H Byrne?
5 Centres Aki, Henshaw, Ringrose, Hume? Frawley?
7 Back-threes - Keenan, Lowe, Hansen, Lowry? J O’Brien?

Early signs are good for Ireland - ABs making mistakes, set piece under pressure.

Has to be red, joke that the ABs get away with these things. Unreal.

Does he not jump to block before the ball is kicked?

It will be subject to a lot of debate im sure. Similar type of incident to a shoulder to the head during a tackle. I reckon this was lower level than those as he was jumping in the air to try and charge down a kick, and his momentum made him fall straight into Hansen's face.
Reckless definitely.

Doesnt matter, Stander got a red v SA for the exact same thing. Its contact with the head.

For sure, think Peyper is a good ref though so all good.

Ooh another close one - again I think correct call. There were other players nearby (Jordie Barrett) and he was still far enough out for it not to be a penalty try.
Very very close call though!

Stander was hip straight to face. No other contact first. Not the same thing.

Will be a huge result for ABs if they get through this period without conceding. They need to find a way back into the game though as they've had nothing.

If not for the ref... this could be a 12 man NZ team for next 4 mins... and a penalty try to go with the opening try.

Ireland so far not making the most of it though!

Ireland need to focus and take points. Even if its penalties. Coz they have all the advantages now. Don't want to lose by banging your head off a black wall in a rage.

Really needed to be 10-0 up at half time.
Need to cut out silly mistakes towards the end of that half.
Cost us.
Real shame, as should be further ahead.

Hate to set this tone. But its remained 15 on 15 with that ref on the pitch... He's been worth more points than Sam Whitelock for NZ.

Re: Ireland Tour of New Zealand 2022
Ireland have real head issues when it gets like this. Seem unable to put their foot on the neck of the opposition and slow things down... play some clinical controlled possession. Followed NZ's lead and just added to the chaotic feel.
NZ showing their mettle in adversity as always.

Ireland messing this opportunity up. Should have taken the goalable kicks.
Their execution has been poor forthe time they have spent on attack.
Unlucky not to get a penalty try though.

WTF was that half! Mad.
Ireland really making a mess of things - they should have been out of sight. Instead ABs are right back in the game.

Re: Ireland Tour of New Zealand 2022
Really farcical half of rugby with the amount of cards. Ireland couldn't convert their chances (again) so it looks like NZ will come back and win, even with the one man deficit for the majority of the half.
Think the yellow for the charge-down was fine.

Re: Ireland Tour of New Zealand 2022
Well, what can I say.
For me, Peyper has been very lenient here.
First YC was easily a RC for me.
Second YC understandable but if it was a penalty and a YC then it was most definitely a penalty try as there was no cover.
The third card, RC, Peyper was almost apologetic to the All Blacks for having to issue the RC...
No qualms about the Ireland YC, it was deserved but in the lead up to it, it was clear that the AB's dummied the re-start and drew Ireland offside, Could easily have been a penalty to Ireland.
Ref Rant over
Ireland seriously lacking composure whilst having a man advantage. It was hard to watch.

He has sin binned 2 New Zealand players and sent off another?
Ireland hopefully will manage this better than England did last week. I do enjoy watching the Ireland attack though, they support each other really well, theres always options. They swarm on the other team.

Do you think we get like this because of the Black Jerseys in particular... or are we just a panicky hysterical team in general? Coz it's been real headless stuff (similar to the WC game where we looked completely psyched out from the start). Only on this occasion we're trying to feck up a gift-wrapped away victory.

I do not think that Ireland are a hysterical team but they really do lack composure at times. I think that they are expecting Peyper to penalise the All Blacks more and not focusing so much on the opposition.

Not sure what it is, but NZ always seem to put in a lot of high shots when they play Ireland - usually they’d get away with it.

Wasn't trying to get at you mate. I listened to last weeks game on the radio. For me the ref was ridiculous in the opening. And even tried to not give the red card... except that it was there right in front of your eyes on replay after replay. But whatever.
Ireland need to keep this game at even numbers. They seem to play better when they aren't thinking about having an advantage!

To me with the red card the refs show sympathy for what is not deliberate but clearly the player has to go.
If Ireland dont win now its not down to the ref.
