Scotland Summer tests against Argentina
So two more matches left on the summer tour for Scotland and we need to see a big improvement to take the series into a deciding leg, next weekend.
We will need to see a big improvement to achieve that and it will involve a working game plan from Toonie and buy in from the players and the skill and patience on their part to make it work.
There is an undeniable feel that Scotland are a team on the slide at the moment and nothing we have seen in the last few games has given us any signs that is not the case. This makes this match on saturday very important. Losing it and in particular losing it with a poor performance is really going to ask more questions about Toonie's future and where this group of players are heading.

Sadly as with Eddie, it's too late to remove our head coach and his team before France 2023.
We all just want something to make us believe we have slightly more than a chocolate ice-cream's chance in hell of surviving our world cup group.
Sadly, with the current turmoil at the Weege, Toonie has his excuses in order as to why we get pasted by the Irish and the Boks.
Dodson says fair enough and gives him another 4 years. It's no skin off Dodson's nose as he is retiring on a no doubt massive pension in 2025.

I don't see Toonie staying on past the WC however it goes. It will be time for a change then, he likely knows that himself and maybe feels he has something to prove in the club game still.
He speaks fluent French and could get a gig anywhere in Europe or beyond.

Re: Scotland Summer tests against Argentina
I heard that Townsend's name is being mentioned as a possible replacement at Racing 92, for head coach season 23-24, when Jacky Lorenzetti steps aside to let Laurent Travers move into the president's chair
Cannot believe it is more than press speculation. Eddie's name was also mentioned in the same online article
It's a shame the SRU didn't call his bluff and tell him to get a job at a big club before they handed him the Scotland job on a silver platter.
Think it would have made him a better coach, if he had been successful.

To answer RDW from the previous thread, the effects of middle age are obviously taking their toll - failing eye-sight and sausage-finger-itis. And that is separate to any quote function challenges.
I obviously need to seek training support from Jimbo. And arrange for a carer to support me.

I'm sure Jimbo is vastly experienced serving as a mentor, guide, advisor as your mind, body, and soul degrade towards the organic mess which is called old age.Anglobraveheart wrote:To answer RDW from the previous thread, the effects of middle age are obviously taking their toll - failing eye-sight and sausage-finger-itis. I know a good care giver. She has gotten a bit older now, but should still be only 25. She is not bright, but is very healthy. She does have a pretty bohemian view of morality, but is loyal to whomever pays her.

Like all the best threads this has meandered soooo far off message it is barely on nodding terms with reality. Yesterday Young Pipetto gave me a card which said, "If you think this birthday card is rubbish wait till you see the care home I choose for you" Bigson repeatedly phoned me, sang "Will you still need me? will you still feed me?" before laughing cruelly and hanging up.
Anglo, the Quoteything is a fickle mistress, don't pursue her as she'll only mock you and flee from your grasp. There used to be an i button to assist novice posters beside the quote button but when last I pressed it all it said was,
"Noli me tangere, for Flounder's I am,
And wild for to hold, though I seem tame."
Doc, is your carer a Golden Retriever?
Is there any truth in the rumour that FES is so terrified of Indyref 2 heralding the true Socialist Republic Of Albayabam that he has bought a Greek Island and is even now shipping his collection of Jimmy Shand albums out there?

Oh god I’ve just had a terrible thought. If Neverendum pt 2 is illegally brought about by wee Nik and her comrades, will Asbo and Scitz be back on here?

Getting back to the rugby. Anyone think we got a chance today?

Sorry Gee but no.
We dont have a snowballs chance in Edinburgh today (23 degrees, wtf)
Now I’ve said that we’ll probably win now. I do miss the days when we wrote off our own chances then when we lost it was expected, if we won, it was magical.

Ireland, England and Wales all win No pressure! Been a very intriguing summer so far.
Gee, I think we’ll win today and it’ll be an improved performance from last Saturday. If we lose I’d expect some big questions to be asked about Scotland’s direction a year out from the RWC. But doubt that anyone would actually lose their jobs. Here’s to a good win.

Best of luck all. As much as I want Dragons number 9 to go well, I would love a six nations clean sweep.

I do wonder if we're all falling into the glass half empty trap here.
So Ickle Jonny is in a rut and looking lost: cue sackcloth and ashes. However, GG has stepped up more than somewhat over the last 18 months. Hodgson and Young look promising and Cummings is fit again. That looks like a half full glass to me.
We will be more competitive than we were last week. It's at sea level, I think, and they'll have been embarrassed by the first 40 last time out.
Scotland by 10 points.

Not going to win games by spilling ball every couple of rucks and giving away daft penalties.

Well on balance, despite the mistakes and errors, it has been a better start than last week. We are not 14 points down and we are trying to play, trying maybe being the operative word.
If we can tighten things up and look after the ball, maybe then maybe!

Excited to see what Rowe and his mullet can do. That was a great first half for Watson. Prime example of what experience brings to a team.
Despite the poor errors at times its good to see White starting, Kinghorn getting more time in the saddle and Darge gaining further experience. Have to keep reminding myself how important this all is in the long term despite the scrappy performance so far.

Great stuff from the pack! They're really causing Arg problems around the rucks. Then there's Darcy just popping up occasionally and making little breaks to stretch the defence.
