Wales U20 leading NZ 19-5 at halftime.

Very uncharacteristic from NZ in the first half but they’ve swung it around now. At least we know Jones has improved this team.

I thought the ref forgot about our advantage then…

Good locks, centres, hookers, and Morgan Morse looks good too but I thought he was more of an open-side. Woodman our captain seems a bit of a passenger tbh.

Ken Owens and Josh McLeod released from Wales squad due to injury. Jeez, one step closer to have Elias in there... Call up Bradley Roberts!

* It seems Sam Parry has been called up. Will Davies-King also released due to injury.

Alex Cutherbert and Owen Williams will miss the Swiss trip, but should be available for the training camp in Turkey.

As our games are on S4C, anyone know how we can watch NZ vs France? And maybe some others like Ireland vs Australia.

Welsh discipline going a little.

Yeah, we started well. Japan couldn't get out of their half in for the first 15 mins or so. 10-0 up to Wales, then the yellow card killed us. They scored from a driving lineout from pretty far out. They seem pretty good in close quarters so we need to keep them as far away from our line as possible!

Rubbish Wales. By contrast, France are making light work of NZ after just putting 70+ on Japan.

It looks like a Red Card from what I could tell. They don't seem to give out many red's at the JWC though.

Phew, needed that try on the stroke of half time!

Probably saved by the Japan player ducking down ever so slightly.

Japan giving us loads of trouble in the scrums. Their props just seem much bigger. Ours look more 'mobile', perhaps, but definitely not units.

Trouble for Japan 12 coming maybe....

We've had a couple of yellows in the game and suffered.  See how Japan cope down to 14 for 10 now.

The yellow was upgraded to red somehow while the players was off serving his 10 min sin bin!

New directive from World Rugby. TMO can check the footage for longer & upgrade a yellow card to a red whilst the player is in the bin.

Will be in place for the RWC too.

That TMO bunker is pretty handy, though I think the ref should’ve called it himself. It was really brain dead. He was never going to gain anything from doing that.

Not looking forward to France next.

Wooden spoon in the 6N and now this embarrassing performance. Appointing Mark Jones was a good move, but clearly plenty more work to be done over the coming seasons.

Where was this tempo for the rest of the game?

Score line flattered us in the end

Crikey, who disliked my comment?! We were losing most of the game and scored two tries in the last couple of minutes! If that’s not helping to flatter the score line I don’t know what is! Some fragile people out there

Japan did turn into a rabble last five and the red swung the game massively. Wouldn’t like to be in that 12’s boots.

Yeah, it's hard to predict what would have happened if they didn't get the Yellow upgraded to red. But Wales didn't look like doing much against 15 men. We were 19-15 down until 60 odd minutes in and Japan looked quite comfortable, especially when they were close to our line as they seemed to be more powerful than us. We were munched in the scrums a lot. Dread to think what would happen v France or Ireland. I think that NZ close score the other day might have given us false hope, because France showed that NZ are maybe not great this year at U20 level.

Italy beat SA. Georgia are leading Arg. Had Japan kept 15 on the field it would have been a great day for upsets .
