Do you get a veto like the UN security council then?

Sorry, I've been a bit busy. The Romanian police are an over sensitive bunch.
Struggling with this whole concept really. I suspected most of you (riCK excluded) were soft c*cks but held out some hope for Pee Jay.
4 wasps? A nest? The world is truly going to sh*t when an Aussie is afraid of 4 wasps.

I am getting old so am going to assume I have not already done this story, but many years ago a friend who was living in Arizona told the tale of how he found a tarantula hawk wasp in his garden. Given that he had a dog he decided that the wasp had to go. Unfortunately hitting it with a shovel only made it angry...

Now we are talking. They are absolute b*stards. Even I would be a bit reticent going near them. Lovely colours but a sting that packs more pain than a Shah rucksack.
The way their young hatch in the body of a tarantula and then eat them is brutal. Eat them from the inside out. Leaving the vital organs till last! Nature is a motherf*cker!

Thanks. I'm hoping it might be enough to goad him back here but I'm not sure The Wagner Group are letting people have holidays at the moment.

Believe it was Brendan McCullum. It used to be called a spider tickler before Baz came along.

Re: Music Section Morning Tea Society
Have to give you an update on the wasp situation. There was 5. I found another wasp corpse on the window sill when I did the post operation body clean up this morning. But just as I wandered near the barbecue I saw this massive one. It was flickering like a strobe light. I think it was a Richmond supporter, alfie. It was wearing yellow and black. It looked so angry. The way it moved really freaked me out.
By the time I went inside to get the can of spray and came back out it had gone. Think it is one of those huntsman killers - actually found one of them (a dead or paralysed huntsman) down the side garden the day before yesterday. Probably a fresh kill... right near where this big wasp was. Chucked it in the bin after scooping it up with a brush and pan.
Then today: I saw more smaller wasps flying around the pool. At least another 4 or 5 of them. Not sure where their nest is. Saw one heading north over the fence to the neighbour's when I did my kung fu water splash towards it. So that makes 10... or 11 now if you count the big one.

Just had a gander at a picture of one of those wasps - not only am I counting it, I'm going to kill every wasp I meet in case it grows up to be one of those f*ckers.

It was perfect bbq weather today, Super.
I bought some massive slabs of meat from the butcher to go with my English pork sausages. "Australian Made the British Way" it says on the pack. They are very tasty indeed.
Got the temperature gauge up to 400 degrees C (it was pretty hot out there too - mid 30s) and you should have seen the smoke billowing out. It intensified even more when I added the Worcestershire sauce and flipped them over. Actually it was a proper fireball event. Love it when that happens and the edges get a bit singed in the process. The sausages were also singing (in the musical sense) as their fatty juices dripped on the flames below.
The big wasp was nowhere to be seen... but don't worry... I'm waiting for it.

Haven't seen it, Rick, but showbags are purchased at The Royal Easter Show here. It's sort of like a display of rural produce and animals. Farmers and their families come here to show off their prize cow, horse, sheep, donkey, wheat, corn or whatever. A bit of prestige and prize money involved if you win. Also cats, dogs, fowls... basically anything worth 'showing'. It's a hugely popular event where city people mix with country folk for a week or two.
As well as all of this there is a sort of amusement park side to it with plenty of rides. It's like a massive fun fair. It used to be held next to the SCG (where Fox Studios now is) and back in the day they had a large hall where kids could get these showbags. E.g. Cadbury's chocolate... stuffed with all their products, Spiderman, Coca Cola,... you know, all sorts of junk food and products. Loads of them. They used to be free or cost very little. Say 50c back in my day. I'd walk out with about 10 bags... eat half of it out there and feel sick on the way home. Now I think some showbags sell for $20-30.
Actually, I was involved in the design of the relocation out to Homebush Bay - at the same time the Olympics was being put together around 1997. It was called the RAS (Royal Agricultural Society) relocation back then.
I worked on the Horse Arena, Wood Chopping Arena and what they called the Main Showring. This is where they play AFL and Big Bash matches now. The one with the big red light towers 'poking through the roof' you can see at some Thunder matches. Now called the Sydney Showground.
It was designed primarily as a parade ground for showing off livestock (they just go around in circles) and people just sit up in the stands but also for these other sports mentioned above as well as baseball during the Olympics. Think the Queen might have opened it; otherwise Princess Anne... who loves horses and all that agricultural stuff. So we had to include the Royal Box for that occasion... it's now just the RAS Members area.
Not sure if that's what is involved in Koala Man but showbags were (and probably still are) very popular with kids. You sort of knew what was in them (by the company name) but often there was a 'surprise'... like some strange gadget or a weird comic book that wasn't really expected. So that added to the novelty of it all. Maybe in Koala Man's case, there might have been something totally unexpected in the bag... or possibly something inappropriate?

This kind of answer is why I F**ing love you, peej. Nice one.
And yep, it is quite an inappropriate show, but makes some of the points around price and popularity that you have.

Re: Music Section Morning Tea Society
I have a look at it tomorrow, Rick.
The whole showbag thing reminds me of a funny story. Way back (think it was late 70s) I went to the Show with a few 'mates' from school. We were totally out of control. They had the Half-Man Half-Women thing as well as other 'displays' which would be considered entirely inappropriate these days. Head on a Box, Two-Headed Lady. That sort of thing. We gave them a fair bit of verbal abuse mocking them and had a good laugh as one does.
After getting even more hyperactive (due to the over-consumption of chocolate, licorice, sherbet and fizzy drinks on a stinking hot night) we decided to go on the gondola or chair lift which travels over most of the site and amusements. But not before we had stuffed our pockets with some gravel found near the entrance of the gondola. We caused a bit a panic and hysteria down below but we managed to evade capture at the other end.
Then it was our turn on the Ghost Train. One of the guys (the biggest kid in our bunch) had a bit of an attitude you might say. He was in competition with another guy all night to prove "who was the toughest". When the poor person dressed in black with the fluorescent skeleton came out of his alcove on turn 3 (or whatever)... 'Arnie' hopped out of the carriage and whacked him in the guts. The poor bloke fell backwards into the darkness again with a bit of a "Yelp!"
I was too scared to follow suit... thought I'd get electrocuted thinking the rails were live. A few other props were also 'seen to' or altered in some way or another during the few minutes of that darkened journey through Hell. Caused a bit of mayhem that night but it was hysterically funny from our side of it. Our parents had no idea what we'd been up to. Only seemed to notice that we'd brought back a few showbags after our jolly night out.

Lovely stuff again, mate.
My mate punched a guy working on the Alton Towers Ghost Train when it first opened, but that was fear more than trying to be hard.
Maybe if we had Showbags to battle over, we would have been discussing things in the language of the fist all over the place.

I see that Rentokil is trialling facial recognition technology in peoples homes to identify individual rats , in order to ascertain whether the same rodents are causing damage on repeated occasions - and possibly where they are coming from.
It occurs to me that PJ may like to encourage this research to be widened to encompass insects so that he can more readily keep track of his visiting wasps/spiders/etc ...

Oops...I will have to add a correction to my post above (before some nit-picking so-and-so comes on to kick me to death for incorrect zoological nomenclature)
I should , of course , have included the words and arachnids after "insects" in the penultimate line. Apologies to the spiders...

I'll sicond that.
That's good news, alfie. Yes, they should extend the technology to insects and arachnids. It's been warm and humid here and it will be hot over the next few days... and you can just sense that a lot of our friends are on the move; silently yet stealthily.
It's that time of year when I'm jumping at shadows (mostly false alarms) as the sun goes down - or in my particular case - my own reflection on the windows when I make a move from the sofa at night. Sometimes it's even TV images reflected on the windows. I have superb reflexes by the way...
They had another snake alert at my Mum's place last week. Another (or maybe it was the same one?) red-bellied black was seen crossing the tennis courts towards the front door of a resident via the garden. If it's the same one, it's quite a scary sighting considering it was last seen on the other side of the complex (you w*nker!) crossing the croquet lawns... which have since been requisitioned for yoga sessions. (even more bloody w*nkers!)
New balls please....

Fist.
Unacceptable behaviour.

It's not difficult to picture Julius going Jolyon Maugham with his tennis racket on a red-bellied black snake which dared to cross the court.

Indeed. Not on a posh snake.
I have to admire its choice of habitat. It's probably a Member for all we know. Obviously not into yoga in any way, shape or form.

If we're swapping Alfie for Duty, then that's a massive win for us and I'm happy to fast-track the membership process (Duty's membership application is permanently halted on the basis that I just don't like him).
I realise that (for obscure administrative reasons and the convenient timing of his initial death) Tina still has final say on these matters, but Alfie and GB could be the fresh blood we need to finally encourage enough numbers, so that we can take realistically take on those rugby lads.

I wonder if the Romanian police are finished with him yet. There's only so much you can fit in a wedding gift box. Can't be that serious, surely?

Lovely stuff, alfie. Not a word we see often on here.
Reminds of the time Jeff used 'oeuvre' when describing some j*zz singer.
Although he was being deliberately pompous whereas I suspect yours is accidental pomposity.
