Wigan where by far the best team last year, after solid recruitment can anyone get near them. Will Hull KR & Leigh continue on from last year's decent seasons, will the sleeping giants (yes Hull, Leeds and Warrington this is you) wake up. And who will be the surprise package.

Championship. 
This is in my opinion the best league. Genuine competition at the top and for the play off places.  Even the bottom could be as tight as last year.

League one.
Unfortunately not as competitive in my opinion, after the drama of the off season, hard to see beyond Oldham doing what Dewsbury did last year and walking away with it. Competing for the play off places could be interesting. 

NRL.
Can anyone stop Penrith (who've won 4 grand finals in a row).

And what should be a fascinating and great game of rugby league in the World club game as Wigan face Penrith.

Canterbury beat Canberra 22-8. Cronulla also get a win at South Sydney 20-6.  And Penrith take advantage of Melbourne loss beating Newcastle 22-14.

Wakefield win again, this time v Sheffield 42-6.

Gold Coast crash back to earth after last week, getting stuffed at home by Cronulla 44-0. Penrith win a high scoring affair at Parramatta 36-34. And Melbourne bounce back after last week's loss winning at South Sydney 28-16.

First shock of the weekend Doncaster beat Toulouse 20 - 18 and move into the playoffs at the expense of Featherstone.

Leeds hammer Wigan 30-4, to keep Hull KR top of the table.

Hull where abysmal, Hull KR very good. Otherwise pretty average weekend.

CHAMPIONSHIP 

Dewsbury are all but relegated, losing at home to Barrow 31-24. And Barrow needed that victory as everybody around them won. Whitehaven with 16 fit players get a fantastic win v Doncaster 28-24. Swinton beat Halifax 20-6. Wakefield win again,  this time v Widnes 36-12. But the rest of the top 5 lose. York getting a great win in Toulouse 20-12, Sheffield losing at home to Batley 24-14. And Bradford losing to Featherstone at home 22-21.

LEAGUE ONE 

Midlands get a tough win at Cornwall 18-6. Hunslet beat North Wales 28-20. And Rochdale piling on the points at Newcastle 78-6.

Congratulations to Oldham, who won at Keighley 20-12, tobwin the league one title, and go up to the championship.

Interesting problem at the bottom of SL.

Hull FC who have been really poor could finish bottom.  But London Broncos (who have really battled despite being behind the 8 ball all season) will probably get relegated. Why, because rather then doing the right thing, we are going on an img grading to do with off field). Just doesn't seem right.
And there will be a relegated side, because Wakefield aren't making there signings to still be in the championship.

Warrington keep up the pressure at the top of the table, winning 28-6 at Castleford.  Hull KR respond in a fantastic way today, winning at St Helens 42-6. Leeds get an important victory in there play off chase, beating Catalans 18-6. Salford stuff Huddersfield 60-10.

CHAMPIONSHIP. 
Toulouse lose again, this time at Featherstone 22-10.

West Tigers get a great result v Manly 34-26. Brisbane get back winning, beating Parramatta 30-24. Canterbury good season continues with a great victory at New Zealand warriors 34-18. Melbourne have all but clinched the league leaders shield.  Beating Dolphins 48-6, coupled with Penrith lose at Canberra 22-18. Newcastle win at South Sydney  36-16.

Castleford get an away win at a Hull FC team that just want the season to end 39-20.
But the big result was Friday night. As Leigh get an excellent win against Warrington 16-12. Which coupled with Wigan win at Catalans 26-18 puts them in the play offs. And also with Hull KR winning 32-12 v Salford,  gives Hull KR and Wigan a 4 point advantage over 3rd place Warrington. Which is big at this stage of the season,  and also because they play each other this week, meaning who ever loses will not be lower than 2nd. At the weekends finish.

CHAMPIONSHIP 

Bradford get an expected win v Dewsbury, and do it fairly comfortably 58-0. Helped by Toulouse beating Sheffield 32-12, so Bradford are solo in 3rd place.

LEAGUE ONE 
Midlands lose at home to Hunslet 28-22.

NRL
Melbourne lose, as North Queensland beat them 38-30. Penrith take advantage,  beating South Sydney 34-12 to close the gap. Canterbury surprisingly lose at home to Manly 34-22. As do Cronulla who lose at home 28-30 to New zealand warriors.  Dolphins win the Brisbane Derby,  winning easily 40-6 against Brisbane.  And Parramatta win 44-40 v St George in a game where defence didn't matter.

In London,  Leeds again beat London Broncos by a golden point drop goal, this time 21-20. And St Helens win at Huddersfield 18-10.

In the league table, the only change from last week is Leigh being 6th with Catalans now 7th.

It has to be said there as been some poor games this week in relation to competitive fixtures

Friday saw Wigan hammer Leeds, Saints similar v Castleford the best game being KR excellent win at Leigh

Saturday saw Salford hammer Hull FC who fielded a young side who to their credit did give up despite being over-matched. Having seen the Highlights Huddersfield were awful being hammered by Warrington. Catalans beat London but seem unlikely to make the playoffs.

In the Championship Toulouse beat Fax who happily now look safe after beating Doncaster last week.

In what has been a surprisingly 1 sided week. Wigan are still top after beating Leeds 38-0. Hull KR remain 2nd after getting an impressive win at Leigh 24-0. Warrington are still 3rd, and have cut the points difference with Hull KR after stuffing Huddersfield at Huddersfield 66-0. Salford secure a play off place, after dominating a terrible Hull FC at Hull 58-4. St Helens continue there place in the play offs after beating Castleford 40-4. And London again put in a performance, and lose this time at Catalans 12-8.

CHAMPIONSHIP
Toulouse beat Halifax 38-18.

NRL PLAY OFFS

Manly pull off a great comeback to put Canterbury out, winning at Canterbury 24-22. The other side out after this rd are Newcastle. Who lose at North Queensland 28-16. Melbourne get next week off, after beating Cronulla 37-10. Penrith will also have next week off after beating Sydney Roosters 30-10.

It's the SL last games this week. And in typical fashion, what was scheduled for everyone playing same game same time, has now been changed to 2 games either side (Thurs,sat), sums up SL which other than the bottom of the top 6, hasn't been exciting.

LEAGUE ONE PLAY OFFS.
Workington are the side eliminated after this weekend, losing at Midlands 24-22 in what was apparently a very good game. Rochdale win the other game, beating Hunslet 30-18.

I don't like this style of play offs anyway, but if Rochdale get through to the final (before the away game ro the championship 12th placed side), and if results go right. Will have played, Hunslet home, Keighley away, Hunslet home, Keighley away. Something wrong with that in my opinion.

Wigan win the league leaders shield. After a very easy win v a weakend Salforrd side 64-0.
Huddersfield end there season with a win, beating a Castleford side probably glad of the end of season 34-10.

It was apparently. But to be honest don't think it would change things, season is ending on a damp squib really with so much already decided already (other than Leigh), problem with play off system.

The big result is Leigh secure there play off place, beating St Helens 18-12. Hull KR secure 2nd place (and a home semi final game), and deny Leeds a play off place after beating them 26-16. Warrington secure 3rd after beating London Broncos 54-0.

After winning at Featherstone last season, Sheffield come unstuck at home, losing to York 24-26.

Next week's semi finals will be Melbourne v Sydney Roosters, and Penrith v Cronulla.

The only close game (which was more the fixtures than anything else), Toulouse win a close one at Widnes 18-12. Wakefield win again, at home to Barrow 46-0. Close neighbours Featherstone also win big v Dewsbury 50-12.

Halifax get a big result, and dent Bradford's hope of finishing 2nd beating them 14-10. Batley dent Whitehaven's hope of staying up beating them 28-14. Doncaster do the same to Swinton after winning at Swinton 22-20.

Keighley win a good game v Rochdale 26-22. Rochdale will play Hunslet, who come back to knock out Midlands 18-14.

Disappounted Hull finished ahead of London, they IMO thoroughly deserved the wooden spoon.

Just to add Salford v Leigh looks a great game Friday night, might try to find somewhere showing it.

This year's grand final will be between Melbourne (who beat Sydney Roosters 48-18), and Penrith (who beat Cronulla 8-2). With Penrith going for there 4th win in a row.

1st off, to correct a mistake from yesterday. Penrith actually won 26-6.

Wakefield get a big win 72-6 against Doncaster. Bradford seal 3rd place with a big 50-0 home win v Swinton. Widnes get into the play offs with a 26-24 win at Barrow. Featherstone also get in, despite losing at York 16-6. This is because Sheffield lose at relegated Dewsbury 28-8 giving Dewsbury there 2nd win of the season. Also relegated Whitehaven also get a win 23-20 v Halifax.

The 1st team in next week's grand final is Hull Kingston Rovers.
Who after a dominant 1st half, held on after Warrington came back strongly in the 2nd to win 10-8.

Congratulations to KR a Grand finsl spot thoroughly deserved.

They will be joined by Wigan, still playing but Leigh not in it with 20 mins to go. Wigan dominating the ruck, 3 in pretty well every tackle.

York beat Widnes 27 - 10 in the Championship play off, could they be dark horses?

York have hit form at the right time. Been a really good season especially since Applegarth became Coach.
