2024 season.
First topic message reminder :
With the new 1895 cup format starting soon. Best get this up early.
SL
Wigan where by far the best team last year, after solid recruitment can anyone get near them. Will Hull KR & Leigh continue on from last year's decent seasons, will the sleeping giants (yes Hull, Leeds and Warrington this is you) wake up. And who will be the surprise package.
Championship.
This is in my opinion the best league. Genuine competition at the top and for the play off places. Even the bottom could be as tight as last year.
League one.
Unfortunately not as competitive in my opinion, after the drama of the off season, hard to see beyond Oldham doing what Dewsbury did last year and walking away with it. Competing for the play off places could be interesting.
NRL.
Can anyone stop Penrith (who've won 4 grand finals in a row).
And what should be a fascinating and great game of rugby league in the World club game as Wigan face Penrith.

They will be joined by Wigan, still playing but Leigh not in it with 20 mins to go. Wigan dominating the ruck, 3 in pretty well every tackle.
Feed up of playing Wigan, 2023 challenge Cup and play off semi final, this year's challenge Cup semi, arguably league leaders shield decider, and now Grand final. And we have a Poopie record to winning only 1. Time to change that I hope.
On the plus side should be a good crowd, Rovers have pretty much sold out there allocation for the east, and west side already.

Sorry,
That should be Rovers have sold our there allocation in the North, south and lower east. With just upper east and a few seats in the corner left.

Next week's grand final will be between. Wakefield who beat a valiant York 22-13. And Toulouse who beat Bradford 21-20.

I would liked to see a new name on the trophy but they are very good. No tries conceded for their last 4 games is very impressive.

True, they are the best side this season. And showed it when they needed to.

Re: 2024 season.
Saw the Champ Final. Wakefield convincing winners. I was a bit surprised Toulouse played a "controlled" game, in my mind their only chance involved moving the ball. May well have not changed the result I will concede.
Great way for Jermaine McGillvary & Luke Gale to complete their excellent careers.

So I guess we roll onto Wednesday when the IMG gradings are released.
Looks like the only change will be Wakefield replacing London.

Which would have happened anyway, given Wakefield won there grand final and London finished bottom.
Apparently London have jumped up 50%, not sure how given there off field issues, no team, and no guarantees about next year.

Re: 2024 season.
England best Samoa reasonably comfortably in Sundays first test. Not the team I would have selected or wanted to i.e. Bsteman ahead of Nsemba, no Luke Thompson but hey ho.
Decent game hopefully both sides to improve on Saturday.

Re: 2024 season.
England win the 2nd test v Samoa, better performance from both sides. I thought the visitors were unfortunate to have a Pauga sin-binned that turned the momentum very much in England's favour after they made the better start.
Herbie Farnsworth MoM, as he should have been in the first test IMO. Great that Samoa came over, when the Pacific Comp. started there seemed a genuine danger England would be frozen out. They didn't get the results but played some tremendous rugby Jerome Luai was fantastic to watch.
England women hammered Wales 82 - 0
In Pacific Championships an outstanding game between NZ and Tonga, no spoilers if you haven't seen the highlights.
