Surrey have named a 14 man squad for the opening game against Yorkshire Vikings on 25th July at the kia oval.
Surrey are without 15 players from the first team squad due to The Hundred. raspberry

Tommy Ealham is side lined with a hamstring injury which he picked up on t20 XI finals day.
Nathan Barnwell, Yousef Majid and Amar Virdi have been named in a squad for the first time this year.
Yet again there is no overseas player Rolling Eyes

Burns as captain suggests he's certain to play, which makes no sense.
McKerr and Dunn are usually so expensive in this format, but they look guaranteed to play! Foakes will surely take the gloves, he is the best keeper!
Probably agree with the 3 to miss out, but I'd like to see Virdi play!

A few reasonable batsmen but lacking, as Olly would say, biffers.
Good sidenote question. Foakes is clearly the superior keeper as Goochie states but I’m unsure who’ll do that job today - as you say, it was Blake on Sunday.
PS Goochie - yep, Lawes has got a well paid gig somewhere to sit on the bench.

You're probably right about selection jimbob, but I'd play anybody in place of Burns, the same goes for Dunn, surely Patel can bowl his 10 overs for less, and I wouldn't play Sibley either

Squad still unchanged for Gloucestershire tomorrow, of the batsmen Geddes is probably the only one at risk of being left out for Sykes so maybe last chance saloon for him.
Barnwell and virdi will probably get in for Sunday if we lose again.

At risk of winding Goochie up further, I’ve seen Barnwell bowl once or twice for the stiffs and thought he was far too loose. Tbf, he could biff 20 runs and has decent hands in the field.

Far away from Surrey, one of my favourite modern day fast men is Mitchell Starc. To quote Sir Geoffrey Boycs, “He goes for a few but he gets a few.” That could be adapted for our pacers in this competition to, “They go for many but hardly get any.”

Hi JimBob - it wasn’t that long ago Geddes was regularly captaining Surrey in the 50 over games. Admittedly and as Goochie would expect of too many Surrey skippers, he made a hash of the job. Nonetheless, it would be quite a fall for him to be left out - we’ll soon see. If he does play today and bombs again, he’ll surely get the chop at Guildford on Sunday.

Insanity rules, doing the same thing and expecting a different result. I'd rather Sykes and Virdi played instead of Burns and Sibley...how bad do they have to be before we change it?? Why isn't our captain ever pro active? Steel's batting has been garbage, why not put him in the top 3 in a power play and tell him to 'pinch hit' (Guildford will know what that means!) If he gets out for nowt, that's what we're used to, but if he can spawn a quick 20/30 we at least could have a quick start before Sibley and Burns ruin it

Disappointing result, but bit better performance, must admit, even 1 down I was never confident, I know it sounds daft criticizing someone who got 149, but I thought Sibley batted far too slowly, and should never have allowed the rate to get to 10 an over, but that's probably just me, a perennial moaner!
