Stade Français up to the Neck in it
Seems that FACEM the mysterious canadian investor that was supposed to inject 12 millions euro in the club in order to re-balance their accounts and save them from relegation, went AWOL (money was supposed to be transfered on monday and investigations suggest that the bank guarantees were fakes). Bernard Laporte (who found the investor and has put some of his own money on the table) and Max Guazini are looking at bringing them to court... as a remainder, Stade was short 5 million euro following the fallout of its main investor/shareholder and had to finf this amount before end of the season...not sure how this will end up but the DNACG is not renowned for his patience (for less than that, Bourguoin and Montauban were relagated).

Stade Français up to the Neck in it
The saga continues.
After the saving knight,Bernie Laporte, arrived on his Canadian-backed charger to bale out financially stricken Stade Français, and an all clear announced by the DNACG(financial watchdog),things appear to have taken a turn for the worse.
Apparently the Facem(a mysterious foundation to help children in distress!!) has not supplied the €12million promised, and so the Parisian club are again threatened by relegation.
Magic Laporte, who was rejected by Bayonne when he claimed to be interested in the Basque club, has brought charges against the Canadian funding company, but at the moment it appears that there will be no,or not enough, money coming from Montreal.
The blogeurs over here are quasi-unanimous in stating that the rules will be bent to keep Stade Français in the Top14,but with RM92,will there be enough support to keep them there?

It seems in France there is a lot of wealthy business men buying up clubs to use as toys and it's pushing up wages by silly amounts, the rest of the other clubs without benefactors are having to compete any way they can and are bankrupting themselves in trying to do so.
I think a few French clubs have gone into administration lately havent they?

Interesting stuff.
As an aside, if SF were relegated, would it affect their participation in Europe?

alyn,
the DNACG keeps a very close watch on all professional sports;rugby has a tendency to be sponsored locally,it's always been a tradition,so you get Micelin/ASM,fabre/castres,Martinet/Bourgoin,EADS/Toulouse, Boudjellal Comics/Toulon etc.
however, there are certain clubs that have sought money from other sources.Stade Français received the backing of NRJ, an FM radio, but with the advent of the internet, NRJ have less resources, and so the club has had to look elsewhere, and it seems that Laporte is not the person to have confidence in.
Few clubs go into administration, they are relegated and start afresh.

Intéressant.
Bet the ERC are hoping for a quick resolution before the pool dates are published, otherwise there could be a lot of fans angry at shelling out for away games they won't be going to.

Re: Stade Français up to the Neck in it
The disease that started with Soccer has spread to rugby Union, rich owners
buy up clubs as investments. Not as it should be as part of a sport.
Rich clubs dominate.poor ones struggle to get by,but cash does`nt always mean success.
The top14 has almost as many mercenaries as French qualified players.
But if you consider teams like Toulon for all the money they`ve spent have`ntbeen successful.
