Union Cane's Prediction League - 12th and Final Round
First topic message reminder :

Week Eleven Results
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Week Eleven Review
Tomasz Adamek is a two-weight world champion, and therefore clearly no mug, but he was no match for Vitali Klitschko. Simply too small to compete, Adamek did well to last as long as he did but was never going to beat the bigger man.
Paul McCloskey should change his name to McLucky, after a terrible start he somehow managed to turn things round (helped no doubt by the home crowd cheering every punch he threw, let alone landed) and get a controversial decision against Breidis Prescott.
Some very high scores this week, even without the McCall / Cooper result, which is not in yet. which is now a voided fight.
When will I learn not to use fights from these back-water third-world countries?
'Predictor of the Week' is a tricky one this week, with Mind the windows Tino., alma, licence_007 and Reborn-DeeMcK-Reborn all getting all four fights spot on and amassing 16 points each. As it's impossible to split them, this week's award goes to Michaels, Sean, who, despite all the points on offer, still only managed a paltry 3 points. Took some doing that, well done Sean.

no adolf, won't repeat myself, it takes you too long to update it anyway, it's wrong you make the people wait 2 days til they see where they are in the table.

Wowzers Towzers, anger issues there my friend. It wasn't that much of an unreasonable request was it?
There are way more important things to get cross about (no disrespect Union).

It's not wrong now is it, the phone hacking scandal is wrong, MP's cheating their expenses is wrong, bankers earning obscene bonuses on the back of the taxpayers having to bail them out is arguably wrong. Having to wait for a couple of days for the results of an online prediction competition which to the best of my knowledge carries no actual prize is mildly frustrating at best.

Not in Towzerland Rowley. Union is a cross between Himmler, Fred Goodwin and the child catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Cut it out, Young_Towzer.
Your ' Adolf ' quip triggered this and, as I pointed out yesterday, folks are working their butts off by way of Twitter and cross - forum negotiations to recruit new members. Childish spats will NOT be allowed to undermine the process.

Just a quick one Windy, but are we going to vetoe new members? Maybe give them a questionnaire or something? Or maybe submit them to a lie detector to ascertain whether they're wums or not?

Union deserves a ban here to be honest. Over 24 hours after the fights finished without an update for his free predictions game?
What was he doing with his free time, having a social life?

Also, a lie detector would be no use on Windy, I'm not sure how well they work when the subject doesn't have all of their faculties intact.

Union, you know me well enough to know that I'm better looking backwards than forwards. I'll leave it to you clever sods who know the modern game much better than I do to slug it out for glory.

Not sure I want to enter with no chance to win Union. If you're interested though:
Murray UD, Burns UD, Watson UD, Marquez EKO, Huck EKO.

I'm the only one picking Watson? He's a much better boxer than Purdy, despite the first result (which came almost from nowhere).

Having someone of your calibre onboard would bring kudos to the competition. I can see that I'm aiming too high though, I reckon Fists has more chance of getting his Lennox Q&A set up...

I'd call you a cheeky sod, coxy, but since you're probably not far from the truth my conscience wouldn't allow it. Careful, though. You lot who are currently in your prime years will blink and suddenly find yourselves in your mid fifties, nursing a Horlicks and petting your beloved dog, being cheerfully nagged by your wife and fondly recalling the fighters of your youth.
Mark my words.

Lucian Bute KO Late (1 for winner, 1 for method) = 2
Brandon Rios KO Late (1 for winner, 1 for method) = 2
Rico Ramos KO Late (1 for winner, 1 for method, 1 for time, 1 bonus) = 4
Paul Williams UD (1 for winner, 1 for method) = 2
= 10
I can only accept your original predictions mate, I can't be trawling through the thread to check if anyone has amended their entry.
You originally picked Bute by UD, so just 1 point there.

Fair enough, but surely you could just look now and see that I changed it in plenty of time.

I could, but equally I could apply the rules to the letter and your entry would be void as you amended it.

I'm still smarting from the fact we have to wait two days for Union to update the scores whilst he selfishly gets on with living.

To be fair, I have now included a scrolly thing at the top to make up for this fundamental flaw in my game, you can spend your Sunday watching that go past, then before you know it Monday morning will be here and the results will be up.
That's the best I can do.

I noticed the scrolly thing actually. Good effort.
Glad I joined your league now after initially shunning it. Your forgiving nature is a lesson to us all.

I am not so ready to forgive. Personally struggle to see why the phone hacking thing is getting so much attention in the press when this is getting a free pass. How anyone can think hacking the phones of dead servicemens family or obtaining the medical records of the prime ministers ill child is on the same level as a bunch of boxing fans having to wait a day to get the results of a competition with no prize is beyond me. Dark forces are at work on this one. When this one breaks it will make Watergate look like a trivial little matter.

But Jeff, we have to wait TWO days. Are you understanding that? TWO whole days.

Tino. I was annoyed at one day, incandescent with rage does not express my feelings on the matter now. How someone can get banned for using the wrong colour font on their posts but Union is still free to pollute the boards in this manner is truly staggering.

Or, alternatively, you could just act in a reasonable manner rather than trying to apply 'rules to the letter'.

Re: Union Cane's Prediction League - 12th and Final Round
I heard there was another prediction league floating about.
I would join that but I don't think the creator of it likes me.

At least the creator of that has some respect for the players.Mind the windows Tino. wrote:I heard there was another prediction league floating about.

I'm not applying the 'rules to the letter' though, if I was you would have scored 0.
