The MTO debate
First topic message reminder :
I don't understand why threads are being closed so easily. Yes I do, like many here, believe that Nadal faked an injury today AGAIN. I predicted that he would finish the match and even the championship. Unlike at the AO, you can tell when it's fake. At the AO he was a step slower. Some see it, some don't but at least I am entitled to my view and express it on this forum. That's what we are here for.
Maybe I don't have tangible proof that he faked it (despite winning a Delpotro in form), but noone has proof he did not fake it either, right. We are all expressing views so please LK, stop closing down thread for expressing views on players.
That's the reason many of us joined that forum, whether we are right or wrong.

Please be gentle with Jubba and Lydian. The quality of posts (and hence the popularity of the forum) is directly proportional to the number of intelligent posters on the forum.

What's happened? Has Jubbahay finally come out as a Rafalito and resigned his moderation duties?

Re: The MTO debate
Afternoon everyone,
I'd like to think we can have a peaceful day on here today.
This is a great tennis forum.......I'm astounded at the knowledge of some of the posters on here and I really enjoy reading your contributions.....so let's not spoil it.
I hope you enjoy the tennis, no matter who you support, and let's be civil to one another ( I appreciate that most of you are...so thank you)

This thread should have been closed long ago, the arguments are just going round in circles. If anyone's got anything relevant to say on the subject let em start a new thread.

What is that a thread to ban??
it does not take a genius to bring some site down these days .. administrators should be cautious when saying something.. not just politically
Why do we need to close or lock any thread ? let it takes its natural course.

I agree, there aren't any posts breaking site rules. If people want to continue an argument they are more than welcome!

I'm not an admin, i don't have to exercise caution when i say something and it does not have any adverse effect on this forum and what it represents.
Where as when an admin says and does something it does.

It does not help anyone on this forum to have Mods vs. Posters. THAT is the bane of any forum.
Both have an interest in continuity of the forum.
I would suggest a bit more reason rather than emotion to prevail.

Guys chill.
Wow,
Admin go everywhere on the board because we are Admin and look after the whole site. We don't have to know anything about the particular sport.
Remember we are just ordinary members like yourself who have been on 606 for years.

Re: The MTO debate
As I said Jubba, it can be arranged.
I do resent the accusation that I know nothing of the game though. Though I joined here initially for the golf section, I take an active interest in the rugby and tennis forums as I played both as a teenager. I was never much good at rugby though I adored the game, but I played tennis to near-county standard (sadly never higher).
Now I'll admit that was almost 35 years ago (unlike you I have no problem showing my real age in my profile) but I have maintained a keen interest in the game ever since then
So not only, as YI says, do I monitor all sections of the forum to try to ensure smooth running, I also have my own favourite sports and tennis is one of them
If that is OK with Jubba anyway

Dave - 606 started to fall apart when amazing contributors like AIR and Duggieto (hope I got the spelling right) gave up because of too much WAM from one particular poster. You seem confident with this forum but just be careful not to turn off the non-posters/casual viewers who are equally important.

Re: The MTO debate
I doubt Nadal, Murray, Federer, Djokovic or any other professional sportsman will ever read what is being said about them on forums such as this.
And if they did - does anyone think they would care? I can't see Rafael Nadal sitting back in his mansion, biting his latest grand slam trophy, counting his millions of pounds, logging onto here and thinking "hmm some nerds on a forum think I am a cheat, I'll call my lawyer...."

The moderators/admin team always seem to have an answer. Let's just end this 'topic' as we're not going to win it. Whether a person or group of people are right or wrong the moderators can just simply ban us on a whim.
We can't fight that but what will be left is an anodyne 'one flew over the cuckoo's nest' forum.

Re: The MTO debate
Davie,
It will take me 1/2 a day to put something like this in one of my servers and host it for free, but it takes a while to build some credibility and an audience to use and utilize what is provided.
with age comes wisdom, with powers comes responsibility and all that.
i reiterate what i said in one of my other post, dont post/participate on any thread as a moderator/admin participate as an user
Take action as an admin/moderator.
Goes back to what GTG had said

Re: The MTO debate
This is getting beyond a joke now.
Guys look, you are free to express an opinion on this forum. If you are making allegations, don't moan if people challenge and ask for evidence in your claims. Making empty allegations and claims is pointless. Your wasting your own time as well that of the posters who try to be constructive in posting and voicing opinions and debating.
Mods and Admins are posters too. They go beyond that to ensure that debating is done in the most harmonious way possible.
The posters should also take some responsibility if debates go beyond the topics being discussed. You are adults for crying out loud. Try acting like them from time to time.

Quotes from parties involved or eye witness accounts. If there are 'official' documentations of investigations into such issues would be great. Is that too much to ask?

assumptions are the mother of all .. so to speak.
i raised my opinion and started a debate, dont ask me proof for all the thing post here.
if so make it pretty clear and clean cut on your terms and conditions that all post which does not have proof behind it will be deleted and removed.
is that not fair to ask?

why should you?
why not any other poster in this forum?
was there a proof given to a poster alleging that federer is mentally weak because he lost a quarter finals against Tsonga?

parthi,
You are confusing opinion with fact.
Opinions do not require proof for obvious reasons.
If you are stating facts, back it up with a source or a link.
Simples.

Re: The MTO debate
If you read the topic 'Mental toughness in question' That isn't a statement of fact but a question for people to comment on.
So you make an allegation and I should just accept that and say well I never knew that? Back it up. Don't think that making throw away allegations in any way is sensible.
I have always asked anyone making allegations for proof if it is something unfounded. Don't take it personally.
If I made allegations I would back them up.

.Bad i had to post this as my first post,
winning ugly, this seems to be a tactic that nadal is very happy to play, i didnt play sport at an well an international level but i did play sport for 20 years of my life. i admire nadal for his never give up attitude but faking injury ?? thats below the belt.
this is what that never allows me to warm up to him, the line calls today were appalling.
well all that counts is the name on the cup these days. .
So the above highlighted is an opinion and not a statement of 'fact'?

Re: The MTO debate
He did fake his injury,
dont have to go so far as the scan and all that happened later look at how he payed the second set and the way he moved.
i can say i have an headache and get a prescription but that does not mean i have an headache.
you cant prove that i dont have one because i took my medication.
getting an injection and a scan after does not mean that i didnt fake it
