To be honest it was going to be hard for him to break into our team at the time. When given the chance he seems to shy away in matches when his game is built on confidence and constantly wanting the ball.
Hopefully he can be a success for you if you sign him

Canary Chatter Article

Top 5 replacements for Paul Lambert.
With the developing news that Paul Lambert’s representatives are meeting with Aston Villa and the increasing likelihood of him leaving I want to have a look at who we could get in to replace one the best managers we have ever had. I will be looking at young managers as I think this is the route we need to go down, rather than going with an experienced manager like Steve Bruce or Ian Holloway.
1. Malky Mackay – Cardiff
Malky Mackay is a manager who has done well in spells at Watford and Cardiff. He is obviously well known to all Norwich fans after having a very good stint of his career here and establishing himself as a fan favourite. Because of this I think he would take the job if it was offered to him, as it would be a step up from the Cardiff job and he knows the club and the area well. He would also be a popular choice among the fans I believe.
2. Gus Poyet – Brighton
Gus Poyet is currently enjoying a very successful spell as Brighton manager, winning League 1 and taking them to the fringes of the playoffs in the Championship. Having been a successful player in his playing days, he knows how to play the game. He plays an attractive style of football and has won many plaudits for this. Would he take the Norwich job? I think he could be tempted into it, but he may like to see what he could do at Brighton.
3. Michael Appleton – Portsmouth
Michael Appleton has been a manager for less than one season but he is a man that is a highly rated coach throughout the footballing world. Now he may have been relegated last season at Portsmouth but he had players being sold to balance the books and a 10 point penalty to deal with. Despite this he nearly kept Pompey up. He has been linked with the West Brom job but I think he would be a good fit at Norwich as he demands the best from his players week in week out and is a very good coach.
4. Karl Robinson – MK Dons
Karl Robinson is the youngest manager currently working in the Football League and he is also one of the highest rated. We as Norwich fans have seen what he can do, after the MK Dons defeated us 4-0 in the Carling Cup last season. He would take the Norwich job as I think he has taken the Dons as far as they can go, but I don’t think he would be a great choice as he is just too inexperienced at this moment in time.
5. Eddie Howe – Burnley
When Eddie Howe moved from Bournemouth to Burnley he was seen as one the best up and coming managers in the country. He has however fallen off the radar a bit after Burnley had an average season last year. He likes his teams to play good football and I believe he would be a good choice for Norwich. He is unlikely to move from Burnley as I think they would want a hefty compensation package for him.
These are young managers who I think may be in contention for the Norwich job if Lambert leaves. I would personally like to see Gus Poyet at Norwich as I think he is the next big manager and he could take us to the next level, however I think Malky Mackay would be a more realistic target.

Sun seem to be the only one suggesting hes walked, though Sky says hes having talks with Villa today.
Either way, seems as though hes a goner.
Too early for Appleton I'd suggest. Mackay would be a good appointment, and I think Poyets going to Swansea.

I know his representatives are talking to Villa today, but doesn't necessarily mean he will leave. Rememeber both Martinez and Solskjaer have rejected Villa after talks with them. If I was honest I wouldn't mind seeing Robinson at Norwich as I think he is going to be a top manager, but I think Mackay would come.

I don't personally see Lambert improving or enhancing his career at Villa. In fact I think it will be a bad move for his career. Villa are a selling club, and are on the decline. There is a reason why Martinez and Solskjaer rejected them

Long term though, last year was largely spent dumping salary. I believe Lambert himself said that Norwich would be paying off debt still iirc.

Norwich will be debt free this time next season. Doubt the same can be said for Villa. Also fan wise even though they get more each week, we both actually sold 22,000 season tickets last year. Now I am certain that if we had a stadium like Villa Park we would fill out every week.

The problem is that you don't though. I'd imagine Villa also have more lucrative endorsements. Going forward Villa probably have more resources available which would be the motivation for Lambert.

It must be a nightmare being a manager, one bad season / poor six months and you could be out. Most are on short term contracts (two to three years), but could be fired anyway. If you have a family and kids then you need to think about their security as well, their schooling and friends network (that is you can't expect the kids to be moved around every two to three years etc).

Re: Norwich City News Thread
I think someone on these boards mentioned that A Villa might be a likely destination, after Holt submitted his transfer request. At the time there was some speculation that this might be partially due to Paul Lambert planning on leaving. At the time Paul Lambert said such speculation of him not staying was absolutely nonesence.

Re: Norwich City News Thread
I feel really sorry for Norwich, with Lambert and Holt going. There appears to be problems behind the scenes at the football club.
