606 Cool Wall
Could be a good idea to create a 606 cool wall, with links to photo's of some must have, wish list, exotic great looking equipment. It may be kit that you've got or something you wished you had, or even something new to market that makes you drool.
http://www.golfstix.net/KZGForgedBladePutters.htm
This is my flat stick and the best putter I've ever used for feel and looks. The photo doesn't do it justice and i don't think they're producing this any more. Mine is a Ltd edition prototype.
At the end of the day it should be a consensus of opinion of what stays and goes from the cool wall

Was just about to suggest the Napa. Would be at the top of my wishlist.
LJ - did you get yours on the first release, recent release or somewhere in between?

Re: 606 Cool Wall
It's a very early one Harrison.
But not in the black. It's a bronze one (not one of the copper releases) but has the old markings whilst looking similar to the oilcan finish (although its not).
It's apparently a very very rare one and the estimate I got on it from the scotty people was ridiculous!

The Mizuno TP9 a classic that for me should be on any cool wall, these are currently going for £83 on golf bidder,
I still have a set and used them in winter when my other bats were stolen, still amazing to use and drool over

Ah yes... but the T irons are the replica set that Tiger used to win 4 majors in a row... very nice looking irons.

Re: 606 Cool Wall
I second the TP9's - keep my set for winter practice when I feel like I need to get my ball striking better.
Callaway Great Big Bertha Driver would be also there for me. First mass released Titanium Driver and technologically revolutionised the game. Maybe more iconic than cool.
Ping Eye 2 irons would also make the list for me but again as an iconic club.
As far as the cool wall I would definitely put up the Ram Watson Cobalt wedges. Still go for a song on the bay...

I thought Faldo was a TP19 user though?
I did have one of those in a 1 iron... that was great fun to thin.

Re: 606 Cool Wall
If your looking for Iconic clubs to add to the cool wall, I think you would have to look at adding the TItleist DCI's from the mid/late 90's
they got a whole breed of players to move from blades to cavity.
As for other clubs what about the original Taylor MAde Rescue, look at the Hybrid market that has spawned

Officially he was, but if you go back and look at the footage, and what he actually had in the bag, the 9's were in there

Re: 606 Cool Wall
Iconic clubs are not always the most attractive.
The original Ping Karsten irons were a bloody disgrace for example!
How about this though.
The very first Ping putter. That caused a revolution in putter design. More so with the anser.

If I was going to change my clubs and sod the expense, then these babies would be the ones for me http://www.pureforged.co.uk/miura-tournament-blade----ask-for-price-656-p.asp
have to ring for a price so suspect there over £400 :606laugh: But unusual, rare and not mass produced like the kit the rest of you chavs use

Miura also do a lot of forging for the Taylor Made Tour Players. Had a set of TM irons about 5 years ago that were Miura forged and they were so so soft.

Re: 606 Cool Wall
Can anyone think of a way of sorting this cool wall properly, otherwise its in danger of being swamped with posts. It would be an idea for stuff that we agree should be in, being lifted and placed on the wall and leaving a thread for the posts? Any ideas, or should we just leave it as it is.

I think the rule has to be:
You or someone you know must own the item you want to stick in the cool wall.
It must not be anything with a hickory shaft in it.

Gotta tell you doc I don't like that.
It's too square in the head and I don't like the face on bettinardi putters. Never have liked that honeycomb finish.
I think it's one for the rejects bin.
Plus... It is identical to the cameron circa 62 number 2 I gave away to a friend not long ago... so it's canned for reasons of being a counterfeit.

With the bonus that the putter in question belongs to my uncle... so it meets the criteria.
As for the bettinardi. I still say no... It's not that cool. Unlike my Newport Beach. That's very cool due to the pink flowery grip.

Re: 606 Cool Wall
So we have a 50/50 split on the BB25, I'm neutral of course, so we need someone to make a judgment as to it being in or out. Wheres the right reverend D4S, or has anyone else got a view?

If we're going to commit to a cool wall properly then surely we should have all four categories - Seriously uncool, uncool, cool and sub zero.
I'd put the napa in sub zero and anything with changeable weights into the seriously uncool...

I'd also say the original nike blades are very cool.
Just a lump of metal, all shiny and sexy, with a number and a swoosh. None of this fancy graphics or colours. It shouted cool.

Re: 606 Cool Wall
Agree that the nike blades are very cool. Maybe we should impose some sort of rule whereby that any club with more than 2 coloured paints should automatically be exempt from cool or sub zero. I would say one colour but sometimes the numbers have white paint on them...
Could also scrap the "seriously uncool" category and change it for iconic. The Cleveland 588's and Titleist Vokeys don't strike me as cool but are certainly iconic...

Anyone remember the bridgestone Rextar i used that for years great ball, had more durability than the titleist balata offering and you could sure as hell get a lot more spin with that badboy too

Yes indeed I do Mav, as used by Sir Nick if I remember correctly? I actually preferred the Titleist Professional to the tour balata for the very reason you mention above, much more durable.
But in ball terms, the Tour balata is iconic.......along with the individually wrapped Dunlop 65's

Indeed Sir nick did play the rextar, it was a cracking ball the titleist profession was superb when realeased to the general public, not a fan of the Pro V though to high a spin rate.
LJ if you ever see someone with that bag, let me know I still have a rifle to use on people that use such things, also you may want to ask if his female playing companion is his mother or his sister! or one and the same!

OK, OK, I have two confessions to make.......
1) it was ME that USED to own said bag <hangsheadinshamesmiley>
2) however it is now owned by some poor unsuspecting mug in Norfolk courtesy of ebay :606laugh:
On the bright side, I bought it for £30 from Sports Direct, had 2 years of solid use out of it then flogged it on for £20 so all in all, bit of a result I'd say.
It's now been replaced with this little beauty
