606 Cool Wall
First topic message reminder :
Could be a good idea to create a 606 cool wall, with links to photo's of some must have, wish list, exotic great looking equipment. It may be kit that you've got or something you wished you had, or even something new to market that makes you drool.
http://www.golfstix.net/KZGForgedBladePutters.htm
This is my flat stick and the best putter I've ever used for feel and looks. The photo doesn't do it justice and i don't think they're producing this any more. Mine is a Ltd edition prototype.
At the end of the day it should be a consensus of opinion of what stays and goes from the cool wall

I would like to point out that this travesty of a golf bag picture was found on a golf sale website.
It was up for sale at 129 quid. :606laugh:

I am indeed... but need to join a club first as I've dumped the first one and with this little injury to my foot haven't gotten around to joining another.
Will try to get that sorted in the next week or so.

anyway.
getting back to the topic. Are we agreed that bag goes firmly into the 'not cool' category. Or does it require it's own category of nastiness?

hmmm...
i think I've just seen through Maves plans... Its very hard for any gentleman to damage his goods personally. There is a very special connection after all. But by purchasing many hundreds of pounds of golf goodies he gets his missus to perform said operation whilst he is napping on a sunday afternoon and also gets lots of new toys to take his mind off the loss.
Very cunning. In fact that's blackadder cunning.

Uncool! Gimmicky Drivers that have white headas and the ability to change the sole plate how its sits up. Come on realistically if you hover the club whit has naff all purpose and then the majority of people buying it will not know hwy htey can or how they can get any benefit from it, so basicalyl uncool the R11

I'd extend that to any of the Taylor Made drivers - being so gimmicky from their bubble shafts now to their changeable everything is really not cool...

Not true.
The R7 SuperQuad is very cool... It was the first all black driver I think and that's been copied by everyone now.
But this white thing is all sorts of wrong. They go in the same bin as the Dunlop tour bag.

I say no... Yes it's a great place and the 18th is iconic... But I think it's too expensive to get on the thing for a round to call it cool. And also 18th is nowhere near as cool as the 7th anyway.

Re: 606 Cool Wall
In repsect of Pebble I would vote it has about 5 cool holes and 13 relatively average ones!
So it would sit right on the cusp but would allow cool as general consensus may overrule me!

I'm afraid that for me any club that comes with a little make up bag containing tools to stop you hooking/slicing the ball cannot be cool, no matter how pioneering.
I fear that the new white drivers have paved the way for ridiculous looking clubs which will be pioneering but, again, not cool...

Funny you say that but they dont just let you stand on the tee for a few hours while the groups behind pile up. It was already late in the day so that was what I had to go with.

Pebble Beach? Definitely NOT cool!
Full of fat, lazy, buggy driving, overpaid American businessmen!
And it's also a status symbol to say you have played it. As said above, it's only got a handful of decent holes along the beach, the rest are average parkland holes.

If you want a seriously good cliff top course then it has to be New South Wales just outside Sydney. Mate of mine has played it and PB, he says NSW takes it to the cleaners!

Are you sure Doc? I think I might look the dogs doodads in long socks, tailored shorts, very tight shirt (not tucked in and hanging straight down from my beer belly) topped off with a wide brimmed dryzabone hat.
At least that's what a yank I watched on the course looked like last year.
I Nearly walked into a tree!

Lets not go too far... For the yanks Pebble Beach is very cool. It's an american links course after all... and it has some very iconic holes. The fact that we are not yanks means it can't go on the cool list... but it can go on the iconic list.
A course that is very cool however is any course in seattle. Cos Freddie is from there and he is still one of the coolest golfers on the planet.

You just gotta love that laid back gait, and you see bubba trying to tank one and fred just nonchalantly tee's it high and let's it fly with the sort of effortless style he has and knocking it past him and yo imagine the crowds shouting bubba you may have a hot pink shaft but freddie will always be the coolest golfer even in his 80's" bubba upset pulls out of the tourney complaining of a mystery stomache complaint and............... Oh wait bubbas pulled out.........
See freddie is too cool

I remember a time when wearing jumpers like this to the course was deemed to be pretty cool. <cringe>

My god I remember those jumpers fortunately I'm to young to have worn one, but. Was embarrassed many times by my dad wearing them in public!
Another item for the uncool area Tom Lehmann being world No.1 yes it was only for 1 week but seriously uncool man at No1 is not cool for golf!

How can you be too young?? You're only a year younger than me! :crying:
It's not fair that I was inflicted with wearing them and you were spared. There's even photographic evidence of me wearing one floating around somewhere within my family, which is particularly disturbing. I'm sure that one day it will be used as a bargaining chip.
