606 Cool Wall
First topic message reminder :
Could be a good idea to create a 606 cool wall, with links to photo's of some must have, wish list, exotic great looking equipment. It may be kit that you've got or something you wished you had, or even something new to market that makes you drool.
http://www.golfstix.net/KZGForgedBladePutters.htm
This is my flat stick and the best putter I've ever used for feel and looks. The photo doesn't do it justice and i don't think they're producing this any more. Mine is a Ltd edition prototype.
At the end of the day it should be a consensus of opinion of what stays and goes from the cool wall

No!
It's not rare... It's not pretty... It makes a nasty noise... Basically it's a lump of nastiness on a stick!

Re: 606 Cool Wall
Lairdy - I edited your message to remove the inline picture as per forum rules.
BTW to all - there has been some discussion amongst the admins/mods about whether some (clearly marked) threads should allow inline pictures. This thread would obviously be one such thread.
The forum rules in general discourage the use of photos to make the forum as work-friendly as possible but we are considering making exceptions for certain threads. Would the golf forum members be interested in such an exception or do we prefer to keep things totally work safe?

I see no real problem with it... Except pics of Doak or Emma Watson.
Those should attract an immediate paddling

Davie - OK. I never checked the forum rules. Sorry.
Obvioulsy wait and see what everyone else says and keep an eye on how popular this thread becomes but I say yes.
LJ - Boo! It's like an old Shellby Mustang GT then, which are still cool.

No apology necessary Lairdy. I know it was done with no malice.
The original idea behind this place was to make it as unobtrusive and work friendly as the old 606 - hence very limited smilies, no avatars or signatures etc.
In general it works pretty well that way but I too see no reason why some pictures shouldn't be allowed on specific, clearly marked threads - then people can avoid them if they wish to.
I'll let you all know when a decision is made

Re: 606 Cool Wall
A Shelby Mustang GT is very cool... but how is this like that?
One is a design and power classic of pure american muscle with V8 throatiness.
the other is a dodgy multi-material piece of callawayism that goes clonk.

"It's not rare... It's not pretty... It makes a nasty noise..." could be the GT you are describing there! And both go like stink but don't handle all that great.
I dunno. It's all a bit predictable so far. Adele - she seems to be cool at the moment. Not much of a looker though is she?

Re: 606 Cool Wall
The admins have been discussing the use of images in limited places. There seems to be a couple of votes against it for various reasons (copyright etc) and for the moment it's looking like the "no images" rule will stay in place. I'll update you again if that decision changes but in the meantime people seem quite happy to continue posting just the links to pictures

Davie, get a grip mate and sort them out Tell them you'll start your own site
Fully understand the whole photo thing, but for a 'Cool Wall' we really need pics, as some can't use the links etc. No harm done, no copyright infringements etc. Just tell Hobo to stop acting like a BBC 606 mod

As a watch collector I think this deserves a place on the cool wall. What do you non-collectors think?

No. They're very cool to me . Excellent irons; used some very similar when I was younger. Wilson massively under-rated for me. Not trendy (cool?) enough for the 'kids'.
Me too. Not the tour variety, but dynapower fluid feel instead.

nice shanker... but a little too over the top for me.
I have a 1999 Rolex Air King with the blue face. You can hardly tell what it is looking at it from a distance... but it's classy and understated.
I like that. Now if they only made one in lime green....

Re: 606 Cool Wall
That'd be this one then
http://www.iconicwatches.co.uk/catalog/product/gallery/id/1493/image/1674/
and you are right. A quality watch with very classic lines.
Whereas I am very traditional in my choice of clothes etc., no lime green or pink strides for me - mind you I have just tried on a long sleeve bright red under armour top, and thought santa claus had just walked into the room. I tend towards big, garish watches, apart from dress watches. I have a watch for most occasions and tomorrowon the course, I will be wearing a rather big Breitling that I persuade myself helps my swing, because it is so heavy.

Hmm - a surprising amount of class for an Essex boy from the east end. If that isn't a contradiction in terms.

Please... It's a scouse born essex boy brought up in the east end. Honestly... the scouse bit makes all the difference.
Also... it's this one.

Re: 606 Cool Wall
It'll turn up somewhere liegerwoods.
As I'm sure you know, Tudor are a nice collectable swiss made watch that were somewhat gobbled up by Rolex in 1936. For many years they have tried to move out of their big brothers shadow, only to be viewed as slightly lower down the pecking order than Rolex. Unfair in my opinion, certainly now, their new collection of chronographs are lovely and very different from Rolex, with top quality movements in them.
Keep looking for it!

Doc,
purchased a Wilson 8835 blade putter at the start of last season, what a differance would be lost without it now, great feel of the face and perfect balance.

I must be an idiot because I've just splashed the cash on a new putter for mrs Doc (being in the doghouse is hard) A shiny new Ltd Edition Scotty which was far too much cash for her, but at least she'll get the use out of it with her 80 putts per round

I once started trying to get a pilots license, gave up as the costs were horrendous.
Did you fund all that yourself or was it through the RAF or similar?
Doc
Does that mean you work in a gum clinic?

Merc - those weren't my watches (although I am a watch collector and already have far too many) they are ones I am looking at for my next purchase 8)
I use a Breitling Bentley when playing golf on occasions. It gives more weight to my left arm.

You said you were a love doctor. The genito-urinary medicine (GUM) clinic is where you go to get problems arising from said activity fixed.
As for Watches, who wares one and who doesn't when playing. I hate wearing a watch when playing.
