The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

The ref's kit is awful, it looks as though it's been knocked together.

I thought it was some Under Armour body protection.

I reckon Steve Walsh designed it himself.

It looks like he's just worn bits of two different kits.

It looks like a T-shirt, there's no markings on it at all. The touch judges are the same. I think someone's messed up somewhere.

We had France on the ropes and ROG says give it to me chaps I'll slot a penalty over from the touchline. Poor call.

yeah they should've gone for the corner. What a difference Heaslip and POC have made to the team though.

Medard tackled without the ball! Fitzgerald could have been carded for that. 19 - 12 now and France have woken up.

I have no idea why they took Trimble off and left Fitzgerald on by the way.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Right, two things got on my pip today:
1 what pollock of a producer thought it was a good idea to include an extensive section of pre game build up on a highlights program. Just get on with the Flip rugby will ew!
2 why can't modern rugby players convert simple open field chances? The worst example today was Armitage in the last few minutes. Ok, he didn't have an overlap, but he just drifted and then gave Foden the ball with no room. I mean for fcuks sake mun!

Nor do I Notch....I'm guessing it's experimentation?
You wouldn't believe this was just a warm up match though.

Bettany Hughes on More 4 talking about Minoans. Can't seem to concentrate on what she's saying though.

Evening all
Have seen no rugby today, eldest daughter was in her first professional stage production, The Jungle Book at the Ashcroft Theatre in Croydon. Very proud dad moment.
Will catch up on todays games tomorrow, but suffice to say I've read a few bits on the England game and it doesn't sound great.

And Buckley onto loosehead? Some substitutions that would only be made in pre-season.
ARGHHH!! My whole kingdom for a solid scrum there!

Poor. With a bit of composure we could have won that. Next week's game is a must win. Full stop.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
We deserved to lose that game. 5m scrum with 2 minutes to go- lost the ball on our own put-in. Lineout in the corner with 1 minute to go- lost the ball on our own throw.
You don't do the basics well, you lose games of rugby. That's the essence of this for me.
There were definitely some positives, but also a real clutch of negatives. Mixed feelings.

Buckley was the weakest link tonight. To be fair, France were playing very well and Ireland did well to come back after the first half.

Massive opportunity blown there.
Oh and how can you award a penalty before the ball is even put in? Ludicrous!

I thought Wallace played well today. I have no idea why Hook singled him out for criticism.

I don't think he had a bad game at all. Maybe it's just bad punditry?

Evening all,
Didn't Rob Kearney and Andrew Trimble look good tonight. Wasn't our lineout a shambles until POC and Heaslip came on.
Better than last week but still a work in progress.
How DO you award a penalty before the ball goes into the scrum?

Because you instinctively know Buckley is going to make a man sausage up.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Yes, Kearney was very good tonight. I was particularly pleased to see him come into the line in attack well. We need that from him. He's in pole position for our starting XV.
Already I think it's got to be Bowe, Trimble and Kearney in the back three. And either Wallace or Earls with O'Driscoll in the centre.

May I presume when you say "She's OK" you mean as eye candy? However I have not been impressed with her knowledge of history when it comes to the Minoans ...

I personally would pick O'Driscoll and Earls with Wallace on the bench. Makes more sense with a centre who can cover every position in the back three.

Massively. He had some good touches today, but he was forcing it. I'm gutted because he played well last week.
