Re: Rangers News
Maybe if he had met with the players and explained things a bit more to them they wouldn't be leaving, instead he comes out in the press with a statement saying he will take any player to court who leaves, that was obviously the last straw for many and i don't blame them. How can you trust Green now? He talks utter nonsense.

Re: Rangers News
All this is quite surreal, been waiting for it to happen for a long time but it's still strange when it does actually happen, new Shagger would go, he wouldn't want to lose his Scotland place to Craig Gordon with the World Cup Qualifiers starting in September
Only two I've been surprised about so far is McCabe and Ness

Re: Rangers News
Why stay and play 3rd division football they don't earn great money and could play for any club in the SPL except Celtic.

Re: Rangers News
I remember Blackpool being very close to the top of the EPL for a while when they came up, didn't make them a good team. Hoffenheim did that too.
Don't get me wrong, its a shame that Scottish football has fallen so far considering where it was in the early 2000's, but it isn't true that they 'should beat' teams like Malmo, who are well financed, play in a similar league etc to what the Old Firm do.
The old firm have fallen so far down the European pecking order that they are now mentioned in the same breath as AIK Stockholm, Brondby, and Maribor. It's a sign of the times and thankfully most of fans can admit that is the level they are at. Highly unlikely to feature in Europe in coming years and really not deserving of anything other than a few qualification games.

Re: Rangers News
Well if Rangers are dropped to the 2nd or 3rd league....the Premier is as good as finished.
Celtic will make it a seasonal one horse race as none of the other clubs are big enough to challenge.
The only bonus for Rangers is that maybe they can return to building the team up with Scottish / British players not average Joe journeymen foreigners...

McGregor gone too. I think he's a huge loss and if he gives up boozing could end up in a very decent team down south.
Who in their right mind would sign Lafferty?

Rangers crisis: Ibrox and Murray Park transferred to Scottish newcoBy Mike Farrell 27 June 2012 16:06 BST
Facebook Tweet Google Rangers’ takeover consortium has transferred Ibrox and Murray Park to a separate new company based in Scotland.
Sevco Scotland Limited has applied to the Registers of Scotland for the title deeds for the stadium and the training ground Murray Park, as well as the Albion car park, to be disposed to it.
The company, whose sole director is Charles Green, is separate from the 'newco' that was due to receive the club’s assets as previously identified by administrators Duff and Phelps.
According to proposals sent out to creditors owed £124m by the club, the new business entity that would hold the assets of the club was Sevco 5088 Limited, established by London law firm Field Fisher Waterhouse, which is advising Mr Green’s consortium on the takeover.
Sevco Scotland Limited, which was incorporated on May 29, made applications to transfer the title deeds of the property on June 15, the day after Mr Green held a media conference at Ibrox with the consortium’s financial adviser, Imran Ahmad, where he announced the purchase of the club’s assets had gone ahead.
A spokesman for Rangers confirmed that there had been a transfer of assets between one newco and a second separate newco. He told STV: "For the avoidance of doubt, Sevco 5088 Limited bought the assets of the Rangers Football Club and then transferred them to Sevco Scotland Limited so that all the assets would be in the Scottish registered company that is Rangers FC."
The asset sale to a newco came after the proposed company voluntary arrangement (CVA) offer to creditors, funded by an £8.5m loan from Sevco 5088, was rejected by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
According to the title deeds lodge with the Registry of Scotland, the floating charge transferred to previous owner Craig Whyte is still outstanding over the Murray Park training ground in Auchenhowie Road, Milngavie. However, it is unclear if this would have any impact on Sevco's ownership of the facility, while Duff and Phelps have previously stated there was no debt associated with the charge.
The standard security granted to the Scottish Sports Council over the training ground, created in 2002, is also still active according to the registry, but again it is unclear if it would have any bearing over Sevco's purchase.
Under the purchase of the club’s assets outlined by Duff and Phelps, Green’s consortium were to put £5.5m into Rangers FC plc, before the property and other assets were transferred to the newco, Sevco 5088.
The relationship between the two Sevco companies is currently unclear, while Mr Green is also listed as the sole director of another business entity called RFC 2012 Limited, which was incorporated last Thursday, June 21.
In renewal letters to season ticket holders at Ibrox, Mr Green stated that the season ticket money would be held by Sevco Scotland. However, administrators confirmed that the renewal cash was initially being held by 'oldco', Rangers FC plc, which would then be transferred to a newco.
A club spokesman said the STV story was: "ignorant and ill-informed" and "has caused alarm to Rangers supporters." He added: "For the avoidance of doubt, Ibrox and Murray Park are the property of The Rangers Football Club, which at present is registered as Sevco Scotland Ltd until a name change is given formal approval.
"Sevco Scotland was formed to ensure that if the formation of a new company was required in the event of a CVA being rejected, then the Club’s corporate entity would be a Scottish registered company as it has always been."
Supporters of the club later gathered outside Ibrox to protest about Mr Green's takeover. Thousands of fans attended the event to hear from team legend John Brown, who reiterated his stance that fans should not buy season tickets for the coming campaign.

Re: Rangers News
Rangers players leaving and staying at Ibrox
THE gates of Murray Park, the focus of so much media scrutiny in the wake of Rangers’ slide into administration earlier this year, will be under heavy scrutiny over the coming months,
The players are due to report back for fitness tests ahead of pre-season training next Monday. But there is much uncertainty over the size and composition of manager Ally McCoist’s newco Rangers squad.
The players’ union, PFA Scotland, has given advice on the law about transfer of employment (TUPE) from the liquidated Rangers to the newco, with players told that they are not obliged to move their existing contracts and are effectively free agents if they so wish.
Despite newco chief executive Charles Green disputing that interpretation of TUPE, ten players have already made it clear they will not be coming back to the reconstituted club. Just three have committed themselves so far.
STAYING
LEE McCULLOCH: The 34-year-old former Scotland international midfielder has one year left on his contract and was the first player to declare he was happy for it to be transferred over to newco Rangers. McCulloch was instrumental in the negotiations last season which saw the first-team squad take pay cuts of up to 75 per cent when Rangers went into administration.
LEE WALLACE: Signed for £1.5 million from Hearts in July last year, of which £800,000 is still owed to the Tynecastle club, Wallace agreed a five-year contract. The 24-year-old Scotland left-back revealed on Tuesday that he was committed to staying, irrespective of what level the club is playing at next season.
KYLE HUTTON: The Scotland under-21 international midfielder had loan spells with Partick Thistle and Dunfermline last season. He signed a new three-year contract with Rangers in 2011 and became the third player to commit yesterday afternoon.
GOING
SONE ALUKO: The Nigerian winger was a success after signing a short-term contract last November. His deal included an extension option but Aluko was the first player to indicate he was not prepared to join the newco and is attracting interest from MLS side Houston Dynamo.
RHYS McCABE: The 19-year-old midfielder made a good impression when he broke into the first team last season and signed a new contract until 2015. But McCabe, who also made his Scotland under-21 debut last season, intimated his unwillingness to be transferred over to the newco last week.
STEVEN NAISMITH: The Scotland international, 25, understood to be on the radar of several English Premier League clubs, agreed a new five-year contract in December 2010. But the forward, who has suffered two cruciate ligament injuries since signing from Kilmarnock in 2007, declared his objection to his contract being transferred to the newco last weekend.
STEVEN WHITTAKER: The ex-Hibs right-back announced his intention to move on at the same media conference as Naismith, with whom he shares an agent. Whittaker, 28, who joined Rangers in 2007, signed a new five-year contract in July last year after Rangers rejected a bid from Turkish club Bursaspor.
KYLE LAFFERTY: The Northern Ireland striker had one year left on his contract and was in talks over an extension before the club went into administration. His relationship with manager Ally McCoist has since deteriorated, culminating in a two-week suspension in April. The 24-year-old is believed to be wanted by former club Burnley.
JAMIE NESS: Despite being plagued by injuries, the 21-year-old midfielder was regarded as a bright prospect. In March last year, he signed a contract extension until 2015. But the under-21 international will look to fulfil his promise elsewhere.
STEVEN DAVIS: The confirmation on Tuesday that club captain Davis was joining those refusing to transfer to the newco was a huge blow for Green. The Northern Ireland midfielder, 26, who signed a new five year deal last summer, would have been one of the most saleable assets.
ALLAN McGREGOR: The Scotland goalkeeper’s departure will be one of the most difficult to bear for Rangers supporters. The 30-year-old, who signed a six-year contract just a year ago, has been one of the most consistent performers in recent years.
JUAN MANUEL ORTIZ: There will be less anxiety among Rangers fans over Spanish midfielder Ortiz’s decision not to return to the club. The 30-year-old made little impact after signing from Almeria last summer, eventually returning to the same club on loan. He was under contract until 2013.
JOHN FLECK: Scotland under-21 international forward Fleck spent the second half of last season on loan at Blackpool where he struggled to make any impact in the English Championship. The 20-year-old has been unable to live up to his potential since making his first-team debut at the age of 16. His contract was due to run until 2013.
UNDECLARED
DORIN GOIAN: The 31-year-old Romanian international signed from Palermo last summer on a three-year contract. Established himself as a first-choice central defender at the club and will not be short of offers.
CARLOS BOCANEGRA: The USA international captain penned a three-year deal when he signed from St Etienne a year ago. Now 32, the central defender has already been courted by MLS club Vancouver Whitecaps.
KIRK BROADFOOT: Signed from St Mirren in 2007, the versatile Scotland defender agreed a new three-year contract in the summer of 2010.
MAURICE EDU: Rangers rejected an approach from French club Sochaux for American international midfielder Edu in January. Now 26, he joined the Ibrox club on a five-year contract from Toronto FC in the summer of 2008.
NEIL ALEXANDER: The 34-year-old goalkeeper signed a new contract in November 2010 which is scheduled to run until the summer of 2013. Back-up to McGregor for most of his five years at the club so far.
ALEJANDRO BEDOYA: The American midfielder joined Rangers from Swedish club Orebro last August. The 25-year-old’s contract is not due to expire until the summer of 2014.
ROSS PERRY: The 22-year-old central defender made 13 first-team appearances last season and agreed a new four-year contract scheduled to run until the summer of 2015.
KANE HEMMINGS: The 21-year-old English striker has been troubled by injuries during his time at Rangers but is highly regarded by the coaching staff. His contract is due to run until the summer of 2013.
ANDREW LITTLE: Northern Ireland international Little, who scored five goals in 11 appearances for Rangers last season, is out of contract this summer. But it is believed the 24-year-old will report for training today.
SALIM KERKAR: The 24-year-old French-Algerian attacking midfielder, who featured in the first team at the end of last season, is out of contract next month.
DAVID HEALY: Veteran Northern Ireland international striker Healy has never hidden his affection for Rangers but is out of contract this summer and has attracted interest from English lower division clubs Crawley Town and Fleetwood Town.
DARREN COLE: The 20-year-old defender spent the second half of last season on loan at Partick Thistle. His contract is scheduled to run until 2013.
ANDREW MITCHELL: Northern Ireland youth international midfielder Mitchell made his first team debut for Rangers last season but is out of contract this summer.
BARRIE McKAY: The 17-year-old striker made his first team debut in their last game of last season at St Johnstone. Under contract until 2013.
GRANT ADAM: Scotland under-21 international goalkeeper who spent the second half of last season on loan at Airdrie United. Out of contract this summer.
SCOTT GALLACHER: The 22-year-old goalkeeper was on loan at Forfar Athletic last season and is out of contract at Rangers this summer.
CHRIS HEGARTY: The Northern Ireland under-21 international defender spent the whole of last season on loan at Forfar and is out of contract at Rangers.

Re: Rangers News
The Scottish Premier League have warned they will form a breakaway second tier if plans to put Rangers in the First Division are not approved by clubs.
STV understands a number of sides in the Scottish Football League have been told they face being cut adrift from the top tier if they do not agree to proposals for league reconstruction.
Plans emerged on Thursday which would see the merger of both the SPL and SFL, the introduction of play-offs and a change to financial distribution between clubs in the top two tiers.
Central to the suggestions is the SPL finding means to relegate Rangers from their league, meaning they would play First Division football next season as a new company.
If they do not gain the approval of clubs, it is understood the long-mooted SPL2 could be created, with SFL First Division sides invited to join.
Rangers
Charles Green’s new company is attempting to have the SPL member share transferred from the old business. An 8-4 majority vote of the league’s 12 clubs is required and is due to be held on July 4.
However, seven top flight clubs have already said they will not give their approval, meaning Rangers’ share will be returned to the league.
The onus now falls on the 30 clubs of the SFL to agree to a new financial and sporting package, which would see Rangers play in the First Division in the 2012/13 season.
Plans include a £1m payment to the league for the SPL to broadcast matches involving the Ibrox club, as well as a redistribution of revenue to give more money to First Division clubs.
SPL sources also claim having Rangers in the second tier would add a combined £2m onto the gates of the other nine First Division clubs, a claim which has not been backed up with evidence.
A play-off would also be brought in between the top two leagues, with the side finishing 11th in the SPL taking on the sides placed second, third and fourth in the First Division.
Any Rangers newco would also be forced to accept any sporting sanctions relating to outstanding investigations into the oldco, as well as paying off all football debt.
SFL clubs will meet on Tuesday to discuss the plans, although a vote will not be taken at the meeting.
SPL2
Should the SFL clubs reject the plans, the SPL will push ahead with plans to form a second tier which would include the newco Rangers.
First Division clubs would be invited to join the new division, reducing the numbers in the SFL and cutting off the promotion and relegation link between the two bodies.
Where's this 'Sporting Integrity' the SPL has been banging on about?

Nah, I must say if they get into the 1st division it's a huge case of "1 rule for some, another rule for others" and they'll be lucky if any 1st Division clubs vote in their favour.
Expecting all Rangers players out of contract to leave at the end of the season.

And one 1st Division manager has APPARENTLY said something along the lines of "Clubs not being offered any real, positive change. Merely a short term bribe for RFC's benefit."
And look at this "SPL threaten breakaway second tier if clubs do not agree to Rangers plans." That's frankly disgraceful. Nothing short of blackmail. http://sport.stv.tv/football/clubs/rangers/108457-spl-threaten-breakaway-league-if-sfl-clubs-do-not-agree-to-rangers-plans/

Re: Rangers News
I like the prospect of Promotion/Relegation Play-Off's with the second bottom of the SPL and 2nd 3rd and 4th of SFL1
I also like the idea that the Newco would need to pay their footballing debt which means Hearts would receive the rest of their Wallace money, Celtic, Dundee Utd and a few other Scottish clubs would be reimbursed
I also like the idea that any Newco would have to accept responsibility for the wrong doing of the Oldco
I also like the fact that teams who drop out of the top tier will get greater parachute payments
I like the notion that the SFL will gain an extra £1m straight away from the rights of TV thanks to SKY wanting to show Newco games
I don't agree with the other £2m figure mooted but I do like the idea that a Newco will improve finances of every other club in the division
These are all positive changes to the Scottish game, however it looks like these changes will only be achievable if a Newco would be granted access into the second tier instead of the 4th tier, I can see why people don't want a Newco parachuted straight into SFL1 however for me it's a small price to pay if the changes made are going to be beneficial to the game in Scotland

I think the only 1st Division clubs who are against this are scared of relegation out of the leagues and lack any ambition.
Good plan all round and long overdue.
I think I would have also docked newco an additional 10 points on entering into Div 1.[or spl 2]

Re: Rangers News
I think the points docking of any new team being parachuted into the secon tier would definitely be a reasonable possibility, maybe 10 points is not enough
That being said, without the Play-Off's then I can definitely see why First Division clubs would vote against it, with Rangers Newco in that league and only one Promotion spit available then it's a no-brainer that they would all be giving up their chance of promotion

I think the SPL see the football debt repayment as a 'joining fee'. [story is going round that the SPL have already paid off Hearts for Lee Wallace]
The play offs are essential for the plan to work [IMO]
I think making it tough for newco to be promoted/playoffs in thier first year is also important, hence my suggested 10 point deduction.

The bottom line is.If any new club or existing club want to join the sfl they should join the queue with everyone else.No matter what the financial implications are for everyone is.They should not get a free ride into the 1st division that is just madness.
Why should the rules get changed for a new club trying to be the old club that ruined scottish football in the first place?
Everything is of their own doing they cheated scottish football for years and want everyones sympathy well boo hoo .As they say karmas my wife

Steven Whittaker signs
City sign 28-year-old Scottish international defender Steven Whittaker on a four-year deal, subject to international clearance being received.
The free agent, who previously played for Scottish giants Rangers, is set to become Chris Hughton's first signing as Norwich City Manager since taking the reins on June 7, 2012.
Whittaker has 15 caps for Scotland at international level, and is a versatile defender who can play in a variety of positions, including midfield, but has predominantly been used as a right-back by his former clubs

Rangers couldnt bully themselves into the premiership so their trying to bully themselves into division 1.
It's sad that no one in Scottish football has a set of balls to stop this situation occuring. What exactly are the governing body of football doing about this?
They seem to be more inept than their rugby counterparts, and their the most incompetent in the rugby world!

Me? I believe they should go to the bottom Divison but I believe their should only be 3 leagues in Scotland not 4

I thought it was a new company running the same club, playing at the same ground as before...or have I missed something?
Does anyone really, truly give a flying one about the company that runs their football club.....To pick a couple of random examples...what is the parent company of Alloa Athletic? Did they make a profit last year? what was their turnover? What's the parent company of Airdrie? Same repeated question....At this point, anyone who is NOT saying "who cares" needs to seek help.
This is a football forum about football clubs, if people would rather talk about finance or corporate skullduggery, maybe they should seek out some accountancy websites....bet they're a rivetting read!!

Re: Rangers News
At good old Airdrie, they bought over Clydebank and changed the name and moved them to a different town, bet the Bankies fans look out for their results ehhn what happened to Airdrie United isn't the same as any Newco Rangers, what happened to Clydebank/Airdrie is what happened to Wimbledon/MK Dons
The football club that was Rangers FC died, their timeline is 1872-2012, a new company has bought the assets of the now defunt club and plan to appeal to the same fanbase that the old club catered for, many Rangers FC fans are in denial about the death of their club and understanably clutching at any straws they canreach, that's what happens with any traumatic death, already we've seen some Rangers fans on this very thread admit it's not the same club, we've seen some say it on TV too and on radio
The Chairman of the Newco came out today and blamed Rangers for most of the ills in Scottish Football, you can't have them starting from where the old club finished, it spits in the face of fare play
For the record, I believe any Newco should be introduced in the bottom tier however I believe their should only be three Professional tiers in Scotland not four

Re: Rangers News
i dont really know much about whats going on, but am i right to assume celtic will in years to come, become the most successful club in history? undoubtably, they will eventually go on to win more domestic trophies than any club in the world by securing the spl title every season and be clear favourites to win both the scottish cup and scottish league cup.
from what ive read, rangers no longer exist and their records will now be just a history. and that this group has bought everything rangers owned and want to start a new club using the stadum, etc?

Re: Rangers News
A lot of Rangers fans are in denial about this (understandably so), they maintain their history is still in tact, their new top still has 5 stars on it representing the 50 league titles landmark they won, many of those titles dating back to 1990 look like they could be expunged and be rewarded top the teams who finished runners up, so in that sense the oldco might lose their title of most successful club before to long
It does look like Celtic could dominate for a spell in the near future however a restructure of Scottish Football could give more clubs the best opportunity in a generation to succeed

The club was liquidated, the club was apart of the company and it was liquidated! Charles Green's company Sevco 5088 then bought the assets of the carcass that was Rangers Football Club
Newco stands for new company and the football club is a part of that company
Like I've said, I can totally understand why fans are in denial, a major death does that to people

I don't understand the decision tbh.
I can understand why fans of other teams might want to see them go down as low as possible, but it doesn't make sense to me why chairmen of clubs will, and ultimately they'll be the one's who voted.
I'm not an avid viewer of Scottish football but always make a point of watching the Old Firm Games. The SPL will be pointless without both the Glasgow teams in it and could suffer as a result. Hardly think Sky will shell money for a one team league

Re: Rangers News
I hope SKY pull the plug on it and take ESPN with them, the level of finance we get in comparison to what SKY alone takes out of Scotland is scandelous, plus hopefully it would allow SPL bosses to actually think outside the box and get proper investment into the Sport, the investment is out there but the so called bosses have no balls to act on it
As for you not understanding the decision, it's pretty basic, it doesn't matter how big or how small a club is, every club must be treated the same, each individual club must fit into the system, we can't mould the system around individual clubs

Saints Sign Steven Davis
The Northern Ireland captain Steven Davis has signed a three year contract with Saints.
The midfielder becomes Saints' second summer signing following on from the arrival of striker Jay Rodriguez last month.
Davis is a player with a vast top flight experience having previously played for both Fulham and Aston Villa in the Barclays Premier League, before becoming captain of Scottish giants Rangers.
At 27 years of age, he already has over 250 professional games to his name and a collection of domestic honours including the SPL title and two Scottish Cups.
During his time in the SPL the one time Youth Cup winner with Aston Villa, also lined up against current Saints stars Danny Fox and Jos Hooiveld on separate occasions in the Old Firm derby.
In fact he is no stranger to St Mary's either having scored a winner here for Villa in a 3-2 success in April 2005.
Steven was voted by his fellow professionals north of the border as the Scottish Players' Player of the Year in 2010, the only Rangers player in seven years to land the prize.
On the international stage, Davis was handed the captaincy of the Northern Ireland team earlier this year by new manager Michael O'Neill, taking over the honour from former Fulham and Villa teammate Aaron Hughes.
Davis returns to England four years on from his move to Ibrox looking to build on his 113 Premier League appearances to-date.
Steven Davis said:
"I'm delighted to get everything done and dusted, and I'm looking forward to getting started. There was quite a bit of interest in me from other clubs but, after speaking to the chairman and the manager, I saw the level of ambition the Club has shown.
"They've had a lot of success over the past couple of years to get to this stage, and they don't want to stand still - they want to keep moving forward, and that was a big thing for me.
"Now I'm just looking forward to getting down, getting to know the boys and getting started."
Nigel Adkins commented:
"It's very good and I'm very pleased.
"Obviously the work the club has gone and done to make it happen is really promising for the future. Steven's an experienced player - a very talented football player who has played international football, captained his country, captained Rangers, and played in the Premier League, so he's at a good age and comes with a wealth of experience as well.
"We work very hard behind the scenes and we're delighted that the football club has managed to secure his services."
