Union Cane's Prediction Cup - The Final Result - Winner : alma
First topic message reminder :
I'm toying with the idea of running a knockout cup competition alongside the new Premiership / Championship Prediction Leagues, this is just a test event to iron out any potential problems with the stadia and transport network et cetera.
The idea is to use Wednesday Night Fights for the cup competition, this will mean a limited choice and a lot of unheard of fighters, so it might fall flat on its face, but if it doesn't work I'll know not to bother with it when the next season kicks off.
So, I need 16 volunteers for the test event, once we have the 16 I will do the draw and then put the fights up for you to predict.

The Final
We are going on a five day trip around the world for The Final, visiting all four corners of the globe.
The fights are as follows :
A - Sunday 4th September - Tanzania
1. Bakari Mohamed v. Ramadhani Shauri (8) - Ramadhani Shauri W PTS

Alma scores an impressive 8 points, having predicted both remaining fights would end in decisions, whilst sodhat scores a solitary 1 point for predicting that Shauri would beat Mohamed. That's quite a lead after the first card, has alma got this in the bag already?

Still no news from Manila, perhaps there's been a riot or the venue has burnt down or something.
Anyway, final results should be up tomorrow, it looks like a sleepless night ahead.

Controversial goings on in Manila....
Quilaton v. Pabustan - "An accidental headbutt opened a huge cut above the right eyebrow of Pabustan. After the doctor's recommendation, the referee stopped the fight. As the fight never reached the end of the 4th round, the bout was declared Technical Draw"
Bantigue v. Cerna - "Bantigue down in the 6th. Cerna was deducted a point during the 8th round due to repeated low blows. Cerna down in round 11" Judges scores were 110-115 | 113-112 | 111-114, resulting in a Split Decision win for Jeffrey Cerna.
Final Scores as above...

Ah well. I should have some popular support at least. Everyone loves a non-league side that takes a top division team to a replay.
That would normally be true Oxy, but in your case, I very much doubt it.....

I should offer congratulations to bhb001 and say that I hope he goes on to win it now, which is why I have indeed just offered them and said it.
He must be happy with that scoreline. It was almost as good as Braintree's the other night.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I'll see how far I can ride my luck, because 9 times out of ten the result would have been reversed.

Oxring - If you predict Early (first half) or Late (second half) for your TKO's you could get even more points!

That would be because Reborn-DeeMcK-Reborn scored 6 points.
I sure did

Through with 3 points, qualified without getting out of 2nd gear that's how the pro's do it, save something back for late in the tournament.

I agree. I, however, was in 6th gear and going full out for victory, and to paraphrase Richard Keys, you still smashed me.
Well done to you, Mr bellchees, and may you go on to bigger and better things. I fear you may have a far more formidible foe in the next round.

I'm sure you can't mean me, Tino... although strictly speaking I have home advantage according to the draw table.

I certainly did mean you sodhat. To defeat the epic Union Cane in his own game takes some doing.
Well done to you Sir, but I have to throw my support behind bellchees after he crushed me.

I'm sure you aren't the first, and won't be the last man to have struggled with bellchees.

Gives me a week to do my research......
It appears so at the moment, although that could change. I will post the actual fights on Monday.

Ok.
Glowacki MTKO
Swierzbinski UD
Wawrzyczek UD
Chudecki UD
Urbanski TKO - how can it be early or late in a 4 round fight? Mid TKO - ie around rounds 2 or 3.

Oxring. If you can class rounds 2 and 3 as 'mid', surely you can class rounds 1 and 2 as early and rounds 3 and 4 as late, no?

Re: Union Cane's Prediction Cup - The Final Result - Winner : alma
I'm hedging my bets. 2 and 3 are the middle 2 of a 4 round fight, ergo statistically twice as likely for a stoppage as in 1 or 4. 1 has to be early and 4 late.
Unless we're being really complicated and saying that until 1 minute of the second round - its early...'
Anyway. As far as I'm concerned - any stoppage in less than 4 rounds is a quick stoppage - even if the fight was only scheduled for.
