Floyd 'Money' Mayweather is coming to Primetime!
First topic message reminder :
Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather Is Coming To Primetime
WBC Welterweight Title
When: 17th September Live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas
What: Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Victor Ortiz
Where: All on Primetime: Sky channel 480, Virgin Media ‘On Demand’ and online at Primetime Website
Primetime’s Summer of Championship boxing continues this September with the world’s biggest boxing name headlining an action packed card of title fights from the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Following on from the dramatic unification fight between Amir Khan and Zab Judah, Primetime returns to Las Vegas for the most anticipated fight card of the year!
Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather has long been regarded as the pound for pound greatest fighter in the world today. With 10 world titles to his name in 5 weight divisions, including the lineal championship in both the Lightweight and Welterweight divisions, his no.1 pound for pound status has only been challenged by his recent inactivity in the ring.
Mayweather turned professional at 19 following a controversial semi final defeat in the Atlanta Olympics and has fought 41 times in the professional ranks, winning all 41 bouts with 25 wins coming by way of KO. His record includes a string of famous names such as Jose Luis Castillo, Arturo Gatti, Zab Judah, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Juan Manuel Marquez and ‘Sugar’ Shane Mosely.
After Amir Khan’s decisive victory over Zab Judah, shown exclusively on Primetime, Golden Boy Promotions have publicly stated their desire to have their British charge face Mayweather Jr in a marquee event late in 2012. Mayweather has long pronounced his affection for British boxing fans and has stated his desire to fight in the famous Wembley stadium for his British fans in what would likely be a record breaking British boxing event. Before that he first has to shake off the ring rust and get past a dangerous ‘Vicious’ Victor Ortiz.
‘Vicious’ Victor Ortiz poses a big threat to Mayweather’s unbeaten record, in previous fights Mayweather has struggled to work out strong south paws and was troubled by De La Hoya’s strong left hand. Coupled with a 16 month layoff Ortiz has a golden opportunity to end Mayweather’s unbeaten streak and claim a famous victory.
Ortiz is coming off a dramatic victory to claim the WBC Welterweight title from the previously undefeated Andre Berto in a bout that is already a fight of the year contender. Ortiz has a crowd pleasing, aggressive South Paw style and has the distinction of having sent every opponent he has faced to the canvas at some point in his fights.
Despite being right handed, Ortiz fights in a south paw stance giving him genuine knock out power in both hands that has lead him to titles in both the Light Welterweight and Welterweight divisions. He also brings a 10 year age advantage to the ring against ‘Money’ Mayweather as he looks to firmly establish himself in the pound for pound rankings.
This mouth watering main event is backed up by an unrivalled undercard featuring another 2 World title fights. Mexican sensation Saul Alvarez will be defending his WBC Light Middleweight title against Alfonso Gomez live from the Staples Centre in Los Angeles and Erik Morales aims to add another world title to his record of 7 titles in 5 weight classes by capturing the vacant WBC Light Welterweight title against Lucas Matthyse. Also fighting on the Pay Per View are unbeaten Light Welterweight Jessie Vargas and Josesito Lopez making this the boxing event of the year!
British fighter Anthony Crolla will be fighting the Mexican Pipino Cuevas Jr in a contest to be shown Free To View on Primetime in the lead in to the Pay Per View broadcast.
Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather vs ‘Vicious’ Victor Ortiz promises to be the best value Pay Per View event of the year and you can catch all the action exclusively on Primetime!
You can order the card for only £14.95 by calling 08712004444*, visiting Primetime Website or Virgin Media customers can purchase using the ‘On Demand’ menu. Customers on Sky must register the first time they use Primetime and once registered can purchase using the ‘box office’ menu.

Maybe, maybe not. I thought Hatton was winning til the ref deducted a point off him and stopped him roughing Mayweather up. think the ref got worried Hatton was gonna win lol. Hatton should not have lost his head but think he knew the the ref was against him so he needed a knock out. He deserved a rematch in England with a proper ref to say for sure who would win.

I'm pretty sure if they fought 1000 times FMJ would beat Hatton 1000 times.
In reality if you watch the fight again you could give Hatton 2 rounds, and that's it. I was a big fan of his and i had him well behind going into the 10th.
Lederman had it equal into the 8th apparently, so i shall place you on the "Lederman scoring ability" pedestal. Which isn't a great pedestal to be on

Re: Floyd 'Money' Mayweather is coming to Primetime!
Nah I think the ref got worried after the first few rounds that Hatton was winning and Mayweather was going to lose so he stopped Hatton getting close to Mayweather and deducted a point off him. After that Hattons gameplan was ruined and he knew he had to KO Mayweather or he would get shafted.
Who knows what would have happened in England with Hatton in front of his own fans and a ref that let him box, Mayweather is a top fighter so could have won but he didnt like being bullied by Hatton and it could have gone like the fight with Kosta Tzu.

Re: Floyd 'Money' Mayweather is coming to Primetime!
The thing for me is Floyd fought Ricky's fight, stayed in the pocket and utilised his movement far less than he has in other fights and was still ahead on most cards. Now one does have to ask if Floyd can beat him whilst in theory fighting Ricky's fight it does call into question how easily he turns the trick should he chose to move and stay on the outside.
Ricky's a very good fighter but the fight for me demonstrated the gap between good and great, Ricky is a good fighter Floyd is a great and for me this gap will always show irrespective of ref or venue.

I always found it interesting how the Sky commentators had Hatton level/ahead going into the later rounds, but the judges had FMJ ahead 88-82 or something like that.
Pro-GB fighter bias I think on the part of Jim Watt

9.32am gents and we already have a contender for nonsensical post of the day!
The ref wasn't to blame for Hatton get whacked around the head. And Hatton admitted post fight he was much better on the inside than Hatton thought he'd be.
The guy himself admitted he got spanked - why can't you?

Re: Floyd 'Money' Mayweather is coming to Primetime!
lol Hatton himself said that the ref was against him and he lost his cool when the ref deducted a point. Normally a fighter gets a warning and Mayweather was turning his back on him. Most reports of the fight had it very close until the ref took away a point and started breaking Hatton off. After round 6 Hatton lost his cool and Mayweather punished him but til then I had Hatton winning and dont know how anyone can think the ref wasnt biased and against Hatton. If it was so easy to beat Hatton then Mayweather woulda come to England but he knew it was a hard fight and he would be in front of 50,000 Hatton fans and a neutral ref.

Re: Floyd 'Money' Mayweather is coming to Primetime!
By neutral ref i assume you mean Mickey Vann or Dave Parry (it's early, the sound somewhat wrong as in i may have their names wrong) to let him basically hit, hold and wrestle guys?
I didn't have an issue with Cortez, yeah he broke it up a bit early but you seem to forget Hatton got zero off on the inside when he did get there.
Can't blame not being able to use illegal tactics for losing a fight.
And last time i watched the fight Hatton lost because he ate several punches whilst trying to get in close. He ate a couple of big ones in the 1st round, and the 2nd... and so forth without landing much of note himself. He got hit in pretty much every round by punches straight down the shute.

Why on earth should Floyd have come to Manchester, he was the P4P number one, if you want that title off him you go to his back yard to get it. Hatton had already had the good fortune of Kostya agreeing to fight him in Manchester which he had no obligation to do so can have little complaint Floyd didn't do similar, also I was at the fight in Vegas and the crowd was very pro Ricky so he had as vocal support as he could have wished for.
Sorry but I am struggling to envisage any scenario where Ricky beats Floyd.

Hatton also said he won round 2 of the Pacquiao fight by a country mile. Harrison said he was about to lay down some smack on Haye before the ref stopped it...
Boxers are going to say things for their loyal fans to stay loyal and give support. Yes we all know Cortez gets too involved in the fight and yes he stopped Hatton from using rough tactics.
Still doesn't change the outcome. Floyd schooled Ricky from rnd 3 on...

Re: Floyd 'Money' Mayweather is coming to Primetime!
Mayweather should have come to Manchester because he already had the first fight in America. Hatton had good support but nothing like the atmosphere of a sold out MEN or even wembley in his own country. I couldnt afford to go to vegas but would have definately gone in england and lots of people i know were like that.
Hatton deserved a fair ref. I do boxing myselt and the ref should give you a warning for rabbit punching or low blows before taking off a point. the ref in the Hatton fight took a point off straight away even though Mayweather was turning his back on him. People say Mayweather was beating Hatton on the inside but then how come it was only Hatton getting warned and broke off? Dont know how anyone can think the ref was fair. Hatton said the ref was against him and it made him lose his cool and I agree. Theres nothing worse than fighting a guy in his own patch when the ref is his biased against you, it completely ruins your gameplan and throws you off. Mayweather said he would go to england for a rematch and then backed out. If Hatton was so easy to beat then he would have gone and earned millions but he knew that the fight would be close and alot tougher with a neutral ref.

This deluded clown is our new D4 by the looks of it
Hatton got his arris handed to him. He accepted as much in the post fight interviews. He got outboxed on both the outside AND inside as Floyd was just a vastly superior technician.
The ref was neutral, how do you explain Hatton getting constantly smacked around the head? I mean i guess that was Cortez's fault from about R2 onwards when he ate umpteen power shots a round?
He got beaten up fair and square - either admit that fact or just leave the site.

Re: Floyd 'Money' Mayweather is coming to Primetime!
lol do you own this site? you are clearly a nice bloke. I have my opinions mate and im sticking with them. Hatton didnt admit he was beat up he said the ref was against him and he wanted a rematch to know for sure. His exact words were:
"I thought the referee was a little bit harsh, the warnings were only coming one way and I lost my cool a little bit," said the 29-year-old.
"But I don't want to be an old man sat with my pipe and slippers in years to come and be blaming it on the referee.
"So I'd like to have another crack at him with a referee on better form and then if Floyd was to beat me again I could say, 'now you know'."
Think you need to cool the jets there pal and let people be entitled to their own views and mine is that the ref was biased against Hatton and a rematch in england would settle it for sure.

Recording Primetime works exactly the same as recording any other box office channel, you must be registered and have a phone line connected and order through your box office remote. On you first registration we send a direct signal for the event which unfortunately does block recording, this is to prevent delays to signals for people registering on the night of an event.

For all of those who are interested in the well being of the forum and who have mentioned affiliate programmes with Primetime.
We would only receive payment if you purchase the fight through the link provided in the opening post on here.
Watching the fight through any other method (including paying through your sky box) means that we do not receive any payment towards the cost of running the forum.

No affiliate programme pays you for adverts.
The adverts lead to people buying stuff which pays us.
Same goes for betting sites - they provide us with ads, but we dont get any money until someone signs up. Its what incentives us to get people to watch it.

Any chance of you posting your predictions for tonight's action?
Unless you meant Red Hot 50+? In that case I predict Ben Dover will most likely be smashing Beryl's back doors in after a chance meeting at Tesco express in Scunthorpe.
Once stood behind Ben Dover in a queue at the petrol station on the A3 services just outside Guildford. Mate got him to sign a jazz mag he had in his boot.

Mine says 'gathering data'. The only other ad I can see is for the Mayweather/Ortiz fight.

Primetime writing endless threads about Mayweather is not advertising it is an exciting link up and attempt to engage with the fans, when D4 does the same it is spam that is ruining the board. As I believe the Americans would say, go figure.

I don't mind Rosenthal. He once missed an absolute sitter but was otherwise a good hard working sort of centre forward.

I never knew that was how it worked. I still prefer the link-ups with the meerkats. Incidentally, I met a guy the other week who didn't realise meerats were real. He thought comparethemarket.com had made them up to sell-sorry, link up cheap car insurance. True story.
