The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Lionel Nallet photo on the bar. That's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Injuries and all other calls on resources detract from club/side league ambitions.
I wonder which will be most depleted by injury/RWC come the start of the NH season.

We'll just send our 2nds/exhibition side out and we'll still hammer most teams...
I hate seeing ANY players get injured. Part and parcel, but still a pain.
All roysh Hound pal? Long time no see/hear. Miss yer face.

Gibbo any chance you could lend us a few? I count us having a max of 8 first teamers out. Tough times ahead for Ulster.

9? I didn't really count Danielli because of Gilroy. Not all bad Notch. Imagine if Touhy had been called up as well.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Well, with the news that Muller and Pienaar have been called up I'm going to be openly supporting the Boks when they aren't playing Ireland. Given I always love to see Samoa, Fiji and Tonga do well regardless of the draw or competition, I wouldn't be surprised if I have less Welsh friends after the RWC than before

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Well, when the Boks come up against Fiji and Samoa I'll be on the side of the underdog. But I would much rather see them win the thing than the All Blacks or Wallabies.
Anyway, I will be hoping that two of those three teams make it out of the group. Clearly if Ireland are blessed enough to compete in a quarter final with any of them my national allegiance is unshakable, but yeah- would love to see at least one PI team make it through with the Boks. Two is probably dreamland!

Well, each to their own eh? I guess I'm just pleased to see nations that are underprivileged and set at an institutional disadvantage do well against the big boys. It gives so much hope to the people of those countries.
And the two Ulster lads in the Springbok squad have been so wonderful off the pitch, engaging with the community and rugby in general, that I can't help but want to see them succeed and bring a couple of World Cup winners medals back to Ireland.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Gibbo, alroysh man And for all of ya.
On the injuries thing, I would like to see the best players being able to show their talents for their respective countries in a tournament like the RWC. But we all know this game doesn't lend itself to that.
Best of luck to all those guys who have been selected, and I hope our domestic leagues can also deliver some quality rugby as well.
I'll be in my fav rugby pub for Bayonne v Toulouse at 6pm (ESPN) on Friday. Love the T14!!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Evening.
Dragons 29-13 Leeds. Not great. Second row Adam Jones seems to be a bit more forceful now, Mike Poole looks to be a pretty physical lad on the wing (a new Dragon) and Tovey's kicking was spot on. Matthew Jones' wasn't. Pretty handy run out though.
Nos da. Hopefully be back in the gym tomorrow. Still feeling the effects of the extended weekend.

Totally with you there Hound. It is the biggest Show on the Planet, rugby-wise and I want to see the best players show their wares. Cant wait. On with the Show!
Notch,
Mate, just stick up a banner up promoting Paddy Wallace For Centre on it. It would have you smiling everytime you logon and wind up the naysayers in tandem. Be worth de shekels.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Yes, that was a really nice surprise to see him there, the last we heard he was injured just prior to match against australia, and never heard about him again.
The reason i was quite concerned was that Flip v d merwe, Allistair hargreaves and Gerrit mostert haven't impressed me, and with Andries bekker being injured we had no real physical ball carrier/ defender to replace him.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Not so much for me! He's just been named our Club Captain and is obviously a very influential and important player. It's going to be difficult for whoever is stepping into his massive shoes in the first six games.
But now he's been named I'm behind him 100% and hope he gets on the pitch and does really well.

Lucky - it's a longer weekend for the Bank Holiday, and then I booked two extra days on top to use up some leave. I'll just be doing domestics really - my flat needs a good clean, and I've got quite a bit to take over to the charidee shop. A good clear out is essential for me now and again. I do accumilate some useless things at times.

Morning all,
Cari, I'm going to be doing similar this weekend. My flatmate's off to Ireland to be bridesmaid at a wedding, so I can safely all piles of junk out to the lounge to sort through it without bothering anyone. Joys of being a hoarder!

Prop! You of all people should know it's naughty to go back to playing so soon after injury! Tut tut! (Wags finger)
Kiwi - yeah it's good to have a clear out. I'm doing similar in work at the moment being as I've little to do. I've accumilated some crap in the nine years I've been in this office though.

Lucky, the ban was up last season (march) luckily.
Cari, it'll be fine plus I'll just heavily strap it, luckily the back's better so the anti-inflammatories can be sued for the ankle now!!
