England vs Argentina - match thread.
First topic message reminder :
My prediction was England by 10, so hopefully the Argentinians give a good account of themselves.
This will have to be a great match to live up to the one we have just seen.

If he'd passed to Agulla there that was curtains. England should count themselves lucky that Argentina a) can't kick goals and b) seem like poor finishers.

Butchered try there.
England should give a bit more on the back foot of the ruck. They know they aren't getting favours off Lawrence, so don't give him an excuse to ping you for offside.

Bar a couple of iffy ones Lawrence has been spot on. And i dont rate him usually. Easter was imo lucky in the first half. Only the captain should be allowed to talk to the ref. I still fancy England to stroll this in the last 20

Cant see it. I didnt see the Ledesma one though. His hit on Tiesi was infortunate. Looked worse because Tiesi turned just as the hit came in

Re: England vs Argentina - match thread.
Well at least they got points from it, still can't believe Argentina didn't get a try there.
Taff - not sure, don't think there will be, nothing looked intentional from Lawes. Depends if the citing people get him for being reckless with his 2nd challenge or not. Don't think they weill.

I'm not anti-England by any stretch but I did have a cheeky flutter on Argentina - I can't see them doing it having lost Dr. Phil and Tiesi though.

Citing for Lawes? No, why? It looked accidental to me. Just one of those things.

England will have to start stamping their authority on this game and gain control, otherwise they will be in deep, deep, trouble

Re: England vs Argentina - match thread.
The main concern for England has to be the fact that if they play this poorly against a better side, they will be punished accordingly.
They can consider themselves very lucky right now.
Still expect them to push on and outdo Argentina in the end but there are some real worrying signs for them.

England have lacked intensity at the start of each half. Bet MJ will let that slide when they watch the replay of the game together. Wilkinson needs to nail these kicks no matter how hard they are

Same stuff as first half. Get in the ruck and don't get it out again. Bad decision making, frankly.

What a difference between this and the France game.
If Argentina had made their kicks it would be close to over.

Second tackler didn't release but penalty went to Argentina. Not surprised

If he gets cited or not he's going be watched by the ref's for the rest of the tournament. Needs to be squeaky clean for a few games now

The main concern for England is that they will get beat today if they don't improve! If Argentina had knocked over those kicks it would be game over by now.
Gatts good luck sir, watch out for that Tsunami!

LOL. Youngs' number was already starting to peel off before he'd even got on the pitch.

No. I don't think there was anything malicious in it. Nor do i think it was bad.

This is the first time ever I have enjoyed watching Johnny Wilkinson play!
Re: England vs Argentina - match thread.
Blimey the way both sides here are playing and how Romania and Scotland are playing....this is one very open group!
Wilko misses again, I don't get it, there's a roof, there's no wind...what's happening to the kickers from both sides?!

Think Wigglesworth was carrying an injury from the first half (remembering the Ledesma incident). Thought Wig did okay, good defence and got the ball away okay but Youngs should be able to increase the tempo. Wilkinson must have left his kicking boots on the plane

Lawes' second hit might warrent a review but personally i didnt see too much wrong in either. Hardly intenional, more just silly and and unfortunate.
England need something here or their heads may drop.

Have Argentina missed 6 kicks? England 3?
Unbelievable.
VIckery is really a poor co commentator. Many people hate the guy but i rate Brian Moore. There is a bit of bias but he also is criticial of England.
