England vs Argentina - match thread.
First topic message reminder :
My prediction was England by 10, so hopefully the Argentinians give a good account of themselves.
This will have to be a great match to live up to the one we have just seen.

How many penalties do Argentina have to give away after an official warning before one of them goes to the bin ?

How many penalties have been conceded in this match altogether? Must be a record...

Seriously gutted for Argentina but you have to take the chances when you get them. That amount of missed penalties will never win you matches.
England will win this but serious questions have been raised about their attack and indiscipline again.

Another penalty and they still have 15 men on the pitch.

Re: England vs Argentina - match thread.
But the same applies to England. Even normal kicking would take that back to even, more or less.roddersm wrote:doctor_grey wrote:Boyo, can't really say Argentina deserve it either. In general a match which should be flushed.Gatts wrote:England do not deserve a victory here, but Argentina have done it again. They play like demons and after 10 tears of SH competition will be right up there
Argentina missed about 9 kicks at goal, they should be well out of sight. They've lost this game rather than England winning it.

They're already more than decimated. It's only a 30 man squad. That's only 3 injuries.
Sorry

England very much deserve to win this game, barring a last minute flash of genius. They are in control.

Feel a bit sad for them that they might loes this match now
Not to mention the players ruled out beforehand like hernadez. That has been there problem no creativity at all in the backs.

Impartiality in the commentary box has gone right out the window here. Pretty embarrasing actually.

I dont think that we are going to see Lawrence card and Argentinian today. They have been 'officially warned' enough though.

Well done on the win England, but I so wanted Aergentina to win that. They played with such ferocity and passion you can't help but warm to them.

Deserved yes although i would'nt say well deserved. They were well and truely on the ropes for large portions of the match. Play like they did today against a more clinical side and England will be in serious trouble.

Re: England vs Argentina - match thread.
The kickers really have been the villains today. Argentina lost due to Rodriguez misses coupled with his butchered try. Tuilagi got away with one at the end but it wouldnt have mattered.
For England, they got the result which was all important. It wont matter if they improve and win the bigger games. The performance is irrelevant now. THe win is all that matters.
Credit to Argentina though. Their pack was exceptional

Vintage England . Honestly though, a win that they can build on, against what turned out to be a decent Argentina side that could easily qualify.

Re: England vs Argentina - match thread.
This was the 'fieldturf' artificial turf right? I wonder if that threw off the kickers somehow. Those are usually reliable kickers on both sides. I have played on it before and the footing feels very different.

Haskell wasn't happy at all in that final incident - be interesting to see if the camera's picked something up, he's not usually one to get so angry

Re: England vs Argentina - match thread.
England got out of jail there and Argentina will be kicking themselves for not taking their points.
I think this match will stand England in good stead though later in the tournament and thats their toughest group game out of the way. Scotland will be a tough one too but I think to face the pumas in the 1st game is as tricky as it gets.
