Union Cane's Prediction League - Season 2 - Final Results
First topic message reminder :
Week Five Results
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Week Five Review
The Fights
Only three fights this week, Karl Place's opponent dropped out late on, adding to Danny Williams' withdrawal earlier in the week. In the fights that did happen, Jason Booth learned the lesson that you can't go on for ever, the younger Scott Quigg really did a job on him and his career looks to be over, certainly at super bantamweight. It comes to us all eventually. In the other fights, Donaire earned a shut-out 3 x 120-108 unanimous decision, confirming his lofty P4P ranking, and Marco Huck KO'ed his opponent in 6.
The Premiership
A fantastic week for compelling and rich, who managed to get all three fights spot on, earning himself 12 points, a big jump up the table to finish in 4th place, and of course a Predictor of the Week award.
It was the same old story for Knowsit17, the Prediction League's perennial choker once again failing to hold on to a lead when it matters, a measly 4 points drops him to a 3rd place finish. Second place went to sodhat, a case of ever the bridesmaid never the bride for our Prediction Cup runner-up.
Top of the tree though is Eyetoldyouso, our new champion claiming his title with an impressive 10 point haul. I am sure you will all join me in congratulating our new champ.
It's not all happiness and joy though, as alma, Michaels, ian_jamsie, JJJohnson and, believe it or not, Union Cane have all been relegated from the Premiership.
The Championship
School Project becomes the first Championship Champion, a nine point haul this week propelling him to the top. Dass, Jdandfries and 88Chris05 will all join him in next season's Premiership, however there is drama surrounding the fifth promotion place, with 6oldenbhoy and ermietrude tied on 29 points. They can't be separated by the Highest Weekly Score criteria, both having high-scores of 9 points, so a play-off will be required. Details below...
*Update*
The Play-Offs couldn't separate 6oldenbhoy and ermietrude, so given the exceptional circumstances, I have decided that Season 3's Premiership will have 21 places, they are both promoted.

Scoring and Rules
- I will list fights 1 - 5, this list will be definitive, when predicting please list fights in the same order.
- Predict the winner - 1 point
- - Predict the method (KO*/Pts) - 1 point
- - - Predict 'Early' or 'Late' (for KO) / 'Unanimous' or 'Majority/Split' (for Pts) - 1 point
- Get all three above correct - 1 bonus point
- Correctly predicting a draw (be it majority or even technical) will score you 10 points
- Any entries that are subsequently amended will be void.
- If a fight is cancelled, postponed, or if a fighter drops out and is replaced, that fight is then void.
- Each season will be five weeks long.
- There will be promotion and relegation between the two divisions, with the top five in the Championship replacing the bottom five in the Premiership at the end of each season.
- If at the end of the season players are level on points, the player with the highest individual weekly score will take the higher placing.
- Nobody is automatically entered into the Championship, anyone can enter, simply post your predictions to take part, using the format detailed below. You can enter at any point in the season, after all, 5 draws is 50 points which could win promotion in one week.
- If the official result of a fight is changed within one week of the fight having taken place, the new result will be applied. After one week, the result as given will stand.
- Union Cane's decision is final.
Example Entry - Please use this format :
1. Paulie Maglinaggi - KO Early

Think it's time for a rule that gives the creator immunity to relegation, Union?
It'd be wildly unpopular, but it's your house... You'll have to get used to being called Sepp though.

I would of picked Martinez by late knockout and Nishioka decision if it wasn't for you having such a big lead early.

Come now, big leads mean nothing after one round. You should have gone for how you thought the fights would go regardless of others scores! Can't go making excuses at this stage...

I wont win the thing if me and you have the same predictions...need to take risks which is how I won the thing last time.
Looks like me and Union will battle out for the championship next season.

Did you actually predict because if you didn't obviously would not consider that a zero

Technically Schmechnically.
The prediction was 5 draws and there were no draws, therefore you scored 0.
Be thankful I haven't put you in the HoF...

He thought it would be "funny" to predict draws for all the fights.

Genius of PBF proving last season was just a fluke.......!
I'm a bit like Man Utd, consistently at the top of their game and will always be an elite outfit, with relegation never a possibility.

Apart from i used it in a very specific context. You've then twisted a pretty black and white (not to mention sarcastic) statement to suit your own arguement.
And anyway, aren't you some feared football oik who walks around with "the crew" or whatever you degenerate yobs call yourselves? Doesn't surprise me to be honest judging by some of your posts here.
How many times have you been banned again? Must be something like 9-8 to you over Genius of PBF?! Funny, i must be such a pain in the arris for so many that i've only had a temp ban once compared to your 9 or so!

Am sure if the pair of you continue this argument about how many times you have been banned you'll both be able to increase your number before long, maybe Union could use this as some sort of tie breaker.

Truss had his usual pop after he didn't have a retort, i repeatedly replied to said comment with my own pop and after the zillionth time of getting the comment removed and then putting a new one up our esteemed admin guys kinda had enough.
Must've been their time of the month or something, or just before payday from the thousands they all receive from the advertising on the site etc

I'm a bit like Man Utd, consistently at the top of their game and will always be an elite outfit, with relegation never a possibility.
That is true. Everyone hates Man Utd. Good call
I'm a football fan, not an oik as you so kindly put it. I suppose you could class the group of people I go with as a 'crew', but I don't really concern myself with such matters. More intent on enjoying myself if I'm honest.

Is the swapping around of fights 4 and 5 an intelligence test for Union, a mistake from Trussman or a statement of individuality? We should be told!!

He does it every time, I think he wants me to say something about it as it is in direct contravention of the rules, but you know what, let him have his 'fun'.

Gentlemen
I'm moving house later in the week so I'm not at work after today so I won't be on here, but please post your predictions as usual and I will sort everything out on Monday 10th, although it might not be updated for 7am like what it has been in recent weeks.
Cheers and wish me luck.
