Anyone watch the Wasps v Saints game today? Was at the ground and a real sense of injustice with the Wasps fans about the referee and some really bad decisions. Seemed to let Saints get away with so much.
Payne gave Clark a proper right hook halfway through the first half, surprised he got away with just a yellow!

Also sat behind some Saints fans and they all reckoned that Simpson should be on the England bench - saw Lawes make about 4-5 bone crunching tackles today, wouldnt want to be tackled by him at all.

Ref wasn't great Chris, but Saints were the better side and deserved the win.

battered you upfront and deserved the win. sometimes that happens, when you have dominance upfront you get away with a bit more, bit like leicester yesterday.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership season 4
Simpson is certainly the form scrum half in the AP.
Lawson at Gloucester has been excellent also. Is care back yet? If so we really need him. At glos we have the issue of wanting to give 2 good scrum halves game time and may have to do what sarries did last year and rotate

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership season 4
I get the feeling from the Tigers fans forum that some of their fans are struggling to come to terms with being in 10th place at the moment and teams not just rolling over and being smashed by them...
http://www.rugbynetwork.net/boards/read/s103.htm?106,12821770
for my part, I am thoroughly enjoying winding one of them up. Does that make me a bad person???

Not like you to bite Pete, sounds a right tool that fella mind. Leicester offered nothing in midfield yesterday and struggled to get their back 3 involved.
I love it how they think they're 4th choice centre partnership should still be strong enough to turnover teams

Mate, I am sitting here laughing my jubblies off posting on there. It's only a couple of the Tigers fans that are whinging, but there have been a few on here moaning for the past 2 months about how unfair it is that the World Cup has handicapped them, so I thought it was a good time to bite back! lol

Have to say that Peel is the form 9 in the AP for the whole season. Has been sensational.

Wasps scrum started so well but then disintergrated. Payne scrumagged well, eventually Mujati started to muller him but he gave PDJ problems late on.
Artymyev was mint. Really good addition to that back 3. Ashton was okay Pooly, did some good work in defence. Lawes was magnificent and Dowson had a good game.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership season 4
It was a decent game Pooly. I started to worry when Broster and Payne were giving Tonga and Mujati problems but it evened itself out.
Burns is a good player who could be a great one. I'm hoping he plays 10 a lot at Gloucester and gets ahead of Myler etc and gets a go with the Saxons. I've only seen him play a couple of full games and he has been inconsistent. Some games he was brilliant and MoM by a country mile but in other games he has looked very ordinary.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership season 4
Not sure who would have said Ashton had a shocker Pooly, he didn't come close to scoring and had one awful kick, but his workrate is out of this world and was actually impressed with his defensive work, does a lot of tracking and I don't think Wasps got through him once.
I liked their Russian winger, he is a very balanced runner and has a graet eye for space. I think Saints are turning into the 'new' Leicester, their pack is virtually unplayable now and they beat Wasps because they were so much more aggressive and confrontational.
I would put them as one of the favourites for Europe this season - if they had a top class 10 then they would be my favourite to win.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership season 4
Ah an Andy Bull article - such a sensationalist, doesn't really speak much about rugby that bloke, more about how he can get people to read his articles. Ashton made one mistake with a bad crossfield kick (was awful, awful, awful kick), but otherwise solid.
The Saints backline never got moving and then went stagnant when Myler replaced Lamb - think a lot of credit goes to FLutey for that, forget how good defensively he is.
Watched the game again last night and thought the ref made some bad calls at the scrum when Wasps were winning it in first 20 and then Mujati and Tiny's power shone through. That front row will cause any teams problems this season, wasn't imperssed with Doran-Jones though, can't see him getting in front of the beast, the Saints fans love him!
Went drinking for my mates stag a few months back in Northampton and went to the bar where Mujati goes, my god that man can knock back ale...

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership season 4
Burns is massively inconsistent currently which is due to his age. Started the season first choice. then lost his place but eventually Brush realised the only way you will get him to improve is to stick with him.
Yes he does have a brother in the U18s Steven.
His distribution is top class and his kicking at goal is very good. just gets caught up in the game sometimes and loses his head.
Not sure how far he will go. has the talent to achieve a lot.

Will take him months to come through and learn the game and he has a 50/50 of even making it really.
Barritt has been playing 12 and Farrell at 13 last two games.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership season 4
Oh sweet - the move came off. He's a talent, not sure if he will make it but no reason why he can't at just 24. Imagine they will put him into the backline, seems as though he could be a long-term threat to Barritt's place, you don't pay that much for someone (heard £350k signing fee to buy him out of his contract) and not play him.
Pooly, Farrell's been named at 13 but does a lot in the 12 position for Sarries, they interchange a lot but he plays a lot of his stuff from there. Seems a very good 12.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership season 4
Farell has been playing 13 and standing at 13. I doubt either Barritt or Farrell are worrying about an untested league convert myself. Who was the lad Wasps had, don't think he ever played a game did he?
It's hard for league players to adjust to centre, generally have to be a special talent to make the cross. It's not like wing were any dross seem to get thrown in.

Got mates who have gone to every game at Sarries and theyve come back and said that to me. Havent seen the games myself, but take their word for it.
I think we underate a lot of league players, they can be very, very good and Tomkins has come across at the right time - a lot of centres e.g. Hape and Paul come across too late, but sounded as though Hape's playing well for Irish and he's done well for England.
I hope he makes it as we are seriously lacking decent 12s in the Prem

Lee Smith was the Wasps player from Leeds. I think Tomkins will play 12 with Farrell moving to 10 but I'm iffy over whether he'll be a success
