Union Cane's Prediction League - Season 3 - FINAL RESULTS!
First topic message reminder :
Union Cane's Prediction League - Season 3
Week Five Results
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Week Five Review
The Fights
Repeated warnings went unheeded, further punishment was required and in the end it cost him everything. No, not coxy0001, but Amir Khan, the former champ's two points off costing him his titles. Ungracious in defeat, Khan has a lot of hard work ahead.
A disappointing week all round, two cancellations, a no contest, and an RJJ win, which obviously proves that the former great should carry on in the ring.
The Premiership
Unexpected results and a no contest meant low scores all round this week.
Predictor of the Week goes to Eyetoldyouso, a paltry 8 points wouldn't usually win it but given that his 8 points lifted him from the relegation zone to a respectable 8th place finish, the award is deservedly given to the now former UCPL champion.
The big story though is all about bhb001, a meagre 4 points was just enough to keep him at the top, the new UCPL champion winning the title by 1 single point.
Well done, bhb!
The Championship
A single point was enough, as Adam D clinched the Championship title with an impressive total of 49 points.
The remaining four promotion places chopped and changed throughout the season, and it's congratulations to SportsmanGC, All Time Great, two_tone and lfc91 who will all battle it out in next season's Premiership.

Scoring and Rules
- Spoiler:
- I will list fights 1 - 5, then back-up fights B1 and B2. This list will be definitive, when predicting please list fights in the same order.
- If a fight is cancelled, postponed, or if a fighter drops out and is replaced, that fight is then void.
- If a fight is declared void for any of the above reasons, it will be replaced by fight B1. A second void fight will be replaced by fight B2.
- Predict the winner - 1 point
- - Predict the method (KO*/Pts) - 1 point
- - - Predict 'Early' or 'Late' (for KO) / 'Unanimous' or 'Majority/Split' (for Pts) - 1 point
- Get all three above correct - 1 bonus point
- Correctly predicting a draw (be it majority or even technical) will score you 10 points
- A fight that is stopped early and referred to the judges cards (a Technical Decision) will count as a Points result, with 'Unanimous' or 'Majority/Split' obviously dependant upon the judges scores.
- A fight stopped early and declared a Technical Draw will count as a draw.
- No points will be awarded for a fight that starts but is then declared as a No Contest, such a fight will not be replaced by a back-up fight.
- Any entries that are subsequently amended will be void.
- Each season will be five weeks long.
- There will be promotion and relegation between the two divisions, with the top five in the Championship replacing the bottom five in the Premiership at the end of each season.
- If at the end of the season players are level on points, the player with the highest individual weekly score will take the higher placing.
- Nobody is automatically entered into the Championship, anyone can enter, simply post your predictions to take part, using the format detailed below. You can enter at any point in the season, after all, 5 draws is 50 points which could win promotion in one week.
- Any subsequent alteration to the result of a fight will not be taken into consIderation, the initially given result will be used. This is to be known as the 'Hopkins/Dawson Rule'.
- Predictions must be in by 17:00hrs GMT on the day of the fights. Any predictions posted after this time will not count. "Sorry Union, I forgot" will not be an acceptable excuse.
Example Entry - Please use this format :
1. Paulie Maglinaggi - KO Early
2. Edwin Valero - Pts UD
3. Calvin Brock - KO Late
4. Jessie Vargas - Pts M/SD
5. Nigel Benn v. Chris Eubank - Draw
B1. Howard Eastman KO Early
B2. Karl Place Pts UD
I think that just about covers it, any questions feel free to ask.

Think a no contest is the same as a draw, which would lift me out of relegation. Neither of them won so its a draw!

Woohoo. Bragging rights on the board!!! I can now go on holiday a happy chap.
Thanks for this Union. An excellent early Christmas present. Undeserved following my abysmal showing in the last week, but I am sure karma will get pay back next time around. See you in the New Year

Another champions league place for the best predictor on 606v2! A succession of finishes reinforcing that statement.
Losing out by a point is made all the better by seeing the perennial annoyance Tina relegated to the lower league.

Congratulations to bhb001. That officially makes you Weaverham's most famous son. If it were still there, The Salter would have your portrait behind the bar. Well done, Sir.
I was away so couldn't predict unfortunately. In the old days I would have PM'd Union to see who was fighting but he is much less approachable these days so I will have to take my medicine and join the ugly people in the Championship.
I was in Moscow, Coxy, which reminds me of your posting history. Cold, grey and depressing.

Nicely played, bhb001!
And thanks for the cracking work once again, Union. A pattern seems to be emerging with me for the last two seasons; top after the first week, still in title contention after week three, and then two horrible weeks at the end taking me out of contention. Need to arrest that in the new year!

Promotion in my first season, amazing performance from the ATG of the 606v2 board. Should of really won the Championship (only personnel who believed in Chisora), but I'll take the Premiership by storm.
