Re: English Premier League (EPL)
Fair enough if everyone feels so.I just feel that someone who gets a side like Gloucs will be terribly unlucky. They are awful.
I know we are selecting team based on the last 6 years but we have to got remember that teams have changed a lot over the past 6 years. How about picking teams based on how they are now?Is Gloucs a better side than Notts atm?I dont think so.
So here is a suggestion
Have a poll and ask the posters which they think are the best 12 teams in English T20 based on their current squads. The top 12 teams in the poll are the participants. Then Fists as per his idea draws the chits for the 12 teams selected in the poll and then allocates the teams.
I hope this idea sounds fair.

Re: English Premier League (EPL)
Given the teams were selected for being winners and runners up of the English t20 I wouldn't be changing the teams selected at all. Plus gloucs aren't that bad, as the IPL league has shown with the right auction players any team can be dangerous.
Shanky can managed gloucester then :-p

Re: English Premier League (EPL)
of course this is your league and you can do whatever you want.
But my point is why is a team in the league now for what they did years ago?Would the Gloucs coach be given the squad that actually won them the competition or took them to the finals? No,they would be given the current squads. And if the coaches are given the current squads then shouldnt the top 12 teams atm be in the league rather than for what they acheived go?

I just looked up the Gloucs squad and they dont have even a single half decent English player.

looks like we are in agreement to go with the original way...
shanks the person in charge of them can buy players from the auction as well..

Re: English Premier League (EPL)
So would they be given extra money?
the gulf between the IPL teams was nowhere near as big and most teams were fairly evenly matched.
can you say the same when you compare gloucs to sides like Somerset and Surrey? No,there is a HUGE gap.
Wouldnt Notts make this league more competitive?

i think its up to gregers, its his league and let him go with whatever way he wants.

Re: English Premier League (EPL)
Having a weaker squad is fine but there must be at least two or three core players around whom the squad can be built.Gloucs dont have even a single decent english player let alone a quality one.

we still need to finish this tournament first, we have another group game left lol, if we ever get through this week's games!!!!!!!!

Re: English Premier League (EPL)
Get rid of Gloucs, put Worcestershire in and I'll have them! Don't care if they're rubbish, gotta show some loyalty ha ha! Might even win a game, which we don't seem to do in T20's.

Can't help being ill, cf.
Whoever gets Leicestershire will get a slap!
I embrace the challenge of building a side to compete. I don't mind if I ended up with a 'weaker side'.

I dont mind a weaker side but there has to be at least a couple of core English players. For example:James Taylor and a few half decent players in case of Leics.

what we have to remeber is this league is gonna be next year, and the squads could be completely different by next year!

I wouldn't mind seeing a system where the 'weaker' teams get more money to spend in the auction.

The problem is determining which teams are weak,to what extent are they weak, how much extra should they receive?GG wrote:I wouldn't mind seeing a system where the 'weaker' teams get more money to spend in the auction.
It will all be subjective.Rather than that, the best idea IMO is to have the 12 best current squads(not based on past acheivements).

i honestly think we should wait till next year, where the squads will have changed, and thats when the league will run anyway.

Re: English Premier League (EPL)
Just came up with what could be an even better idea, basically we run 3 separate leagues together each consisting of 6 sides. I will run the south league and then two other people run a league each as well. This would allow all 18 english counties to take place. Set up like this:
Gregers' Southern League
Hampshire Royals
Kent Spitfires
Middlesex Panthers
Somerset CCC (Sabres)
Surrey Lions
Sussex Sharks
X's Midlands League
Essex Eagles
Gloucester Gladiators
Leicester Foxes
Northamptonshire Steelbacks
Warwickshire Bears
Worcestershire Royals
Z's Northern/Welsh League
Derbyshire Falcons
Durham Dynamos
Glamorgan Dragon
Lancashire Lightening
Nottinghamshire Outlaws
Yorkshire Carnegie
This would allows the league to run quicker or alternatively allow us to do home and away matches. The winners and runners up from each league would go through to the quarter finals as well as the two best third placed sides. With the group winners and the best second place side getting the 'home' quarter finals.
The winner of QF 1 would play winner of QF 4 and winner of QF 2 would play winner QF 3 in the two semis and then the final is obviously between the two semi final winners.
Thought that if run properly this could be a great fantasy league.
Thoughts?

Re: English Premier League (EPL)
Great idea mate.I am ready to run one of the groups.I would prefer the Northern league mate and CF could POSSIBLY run the Midlands league as Essex are in it.

Re: English Premier League (EPL)
How would this league work with kolpak/eu/english qualified/welsh players? would they count as overseas or English?

Re: English Premier League (EPL)
EU/English Qualified/Welsh (Possibly Irish) would count as English.
Already registered Kolpak players would count as English as well
Maybe something like 6 'English' Players of which 2 max can be Kolpak

I'd happily run a league, my editing facility would come in handy too.

Re: English Premier League (EPL)
Maybe have Me doing the Southern league, Sainty/CF doing the Midlands league and Shanky/? doing the northern league. Or if CF wants to run the Northern league?
Being a mod would help no end Sainty, I've found that with the IPL having to ask Fists/you etc

Re: English Premier League (EPL)
well i dont mind, but i would like to be essex, and run the midlands league

Re: English Premier League (EPL)
Well you can run the Northern then Sainty. That would then allow Shanky to 'float' and help out the three of us which would take quite a lot of pressure off

well im very happy to run the midland league then, and be essex

Re: English Premier League (EPL)
I dont mind guys.I am quite happy to float over all the 3 groups as an assistant and come up with suggestions. But as far as participation is concerned,I would prefer the Southern or Northern league.
