The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the wedding pictures of Dan Carter and Honor Dillon above the bar! And if anyone tells the Australian Womens' Weekly that KiwiRedDevil's Mum smuggled a camera into the service* there'll be hell to pay - they paid a fair amount for the exclusive
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?
Old Pub: https://www.606v2.com/t19779-the-dew-drop-inn-virtual-rugby-pub#757023
* Note to any lawyer-y types, that's a joke and is completely and utterly false, Mum forgot to put the camera in her handbag

Evening all. Just back from a nice Sunday roast at a pub in Notting Hill for a friend's birthday.
Mrs P, with stickies we have a choice - they can be global (ie on every section), or just on one section, no in-betweens unfortunately.

Well done
Where have you already played USA Perp Asbo, home or away?
Do you think you have realistic chance of topping the group?

Good win for The Chiefs Asbo, they hit the straps early second half and managed the game well after the try.
Pleased for you.

Played them away and lost by 3 pts. We should be able to top the group from here, all else equal, MrsP
PJ, Baxter does seem to give a good half-time talk and the Chiefs are pretty good at playing right till the last minute of the game, even just to salvage an LBP or something. Have you had a chance to watch your game yet, or are you stuck with Strictly highlights? .

3rd in the AP is it?
And not likely to lose too many during the 6 Nations?
Might get to play with the big boys next season eh?

Chiefs rise is one of the best seen in NH rugby. They have shown the way to others. They are building on solid ground. As, was telling me of their plans when we were at Sandy Park. But I believe their real strength is in the club ethos. Fans, players and staff seem as one.

Do you really believe the Australia game was the deciding factor Glas?
Could it have been the standard of opposition they faced?
Certainly Scarlets had their most difficult opponents after the Oz match.
Arguably so did Cardiff although don't tell Ozzy I said that.
And the Dragons too.
The Os and Dragons had home games against 2 of the 3 bottom teams in France and their easiest away games before the International.

When you say "the", no probably not, but I don't think it helped. A bonus point away in Northampton to losing at home to Munster.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I agree it was a very silly decision to arrange the Oz game then but I don't think it's anywhere near as clear cut as you imply.
Scarlets could have expected a home win against Munster but not many teams come away with more than a LBP from Thomond no matter when their players were last off on International duty.
And the 11th placed Pro 12 team might not have expected to get too much against the 3rd placed AP team.
Saracens are always a tough ask too.

It was a good win Asbo, Chiefs came out second half looking hungry and had plenty of dog about them, I came back from work about 18.30 and took over the TV on principal - would you believe that between the stupid hours I've been working and the fact that my Sky+ doesn't appear to be able to record anything on Sky Sports 2 the only two games that I have or will be able to see are The Chiefs (watched live from 30 mins in) and my beloved Bath getting pumped at Lansdowne in front of 45,000 rabid Dubs!
Ho ho ho me Santa and I'm going to put your feckin lights out!
Better now.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I just don't understand some people. You may say this is a poor munster side, but who honestly expects to go to TP and win?? 16 years and one defeat what else do you expect. If you want to question anything is Scarlets ability to win in Ireland. Blame a ref blame whatever you want. Maybe its the sight of a full stadium that fills them with fear who knows??? But whatever it is its still the Irish teams that are leading the way in this years Heineken cup
Leinster last night were superb!! Bring a touring AllBlack side to the Aviva to face them and they would leave broken hearted, best passing team in the world. Who else could make the loss of BOD look so.........................so....................irrelevant??? A path to the final looks very possible if not probable.
Ulster, faith in there own hands, many a year before they would have blown the chance of an away bonus point and left their fans brow beaten and questioning what could have been?? Not now, they have the "Whiff of Cordite" in their nostrils and they mean business.
Munster, how many said they were a spent force and couldn't cut it at this level any more?? 4 wins from 4 begs to differ, no other team this year and claim that, not even the mighty Toulouse. Munter with a home quarter final, and by the luck of the gods could be a home semi. Who here has the balls to doubt Munster would loose either??
But on the bright side, with a Scarlets lose, Ospreys falling apart at home and Cardiff setting the trend for the weekend on Friday at least you Welsh folk will have something to moan about in the morning. And sure ye wouldn't have it any other way.
The futures bright........................the futures green.
Thanks for coming

Well,
I've made the pack lunches for tomorrow, finished making a cell for middle P's science project, cleaned up all the gelatine that has been spread on every surface of the kitchen in the process of making said cell, emptied the tumble drier of P2's rugby kit fresh for more mud tomorrow and wound up PJ and Glas to an acceptable pitch of annoyance so I think it's time for bed!
Night all!

Things are looking pretty green here too Glas... a tropical downpour at the moment. Ridiculous. Considering we're only sub-tropical.
We'll be more the wiser next time.
Bloody refs, a poor crowd in the Samoa game, the Tri Nations and the match against Italy was to blame!

Morning breaker, Hoog & Glas, all well I trust? Sorry you had a pants weekend, Hughie, we'll fix You up this evening, don't worry.
Prop, excellent news of your nan's progress - hope that continues.
MrsP, v admirable of you finishing littleP's cell, but should they be doing that?! Just saying loike .... Sandy Park will eventually become a 20,000 person stadium by 2015, but it will happen in stages - east terrace gets upgraded next with a stand and some prawn sandwich boxes on top of it, then the two ends (with more conference facilities in the south stand, an additional revenue generator)

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Bore da pawb / good morning all, Monday morning but my last day in work this year!
There was an inevitability about things in the last ten minutes against the Chiefs yesterday. Prop was telling me their replacement front row was better than the one they started with, and so it proved. The Dragons scored the best try I've ever seen live, which is some consolation, but we need a stronger front five if we're going to get anywhere.
Great banter last night, too. We were standing right by the main load of travelling Chiefs fans, drum, plastic tomahawks and all. It didn't get annoying at all!
Congratulations, As, you played some great stuff second half.

Morning all. Congratulations to all the winners at the weekend. Commiserations to those who didn't manage a win.
Such a pity that Clermont got that LBP against Leicester. Without it Ulster could possibly have been going to France looking for a LBP to qualify. Looks like they will need a win, assuming they beat Leicester of course. Mind you after the weekends results they are in a good state for a best runner-up spot.

bore da pawb/good morning all.
I had an absolutely brilliant weekend the rugby aside, finally felt like myself for the first time in absolute weeks.
Sorry to hear some others haven't been having the best of times so to all of you.
Also, I fell asleep during the 2nd half of the Dragons game yesterday, and before I drifted off the Dragons were winning 19-13 I think, so as far as I'm concerned that was the final result

It was a cracking try. Most number eights wouldn't even have looked to see if the counter-attack was on. But they picked up their game, fair play to them, and bullied us up front. Both their wingers really got into the game in the last quarter too.
