First topic message reminder :

OK, every year we see threads that actually contain really good rugby discussion derailed by the ongoing Wales vs England bickering and WUMMING! I will name no names. I guess we have all been guilty Tumbleweed .

Since most of the general bickering comes from the respective fans of Wales and England kiss ; I thought I would create a thread for it in an effort to keep decent rugby discussion relatively WUM free in other threads. warning

So I will begin, An article in the Western Mail today pointed out how England are copying Gatlands youthful approach with a squad that has an average age of 25 and 428 caps between them.

http://www.walesonline.co.uk/rugbynation/rugby-news/2012/01/12/analysis-new-look-england-follow-youthful-wales-lead-91466-30105333/

Wales probable squad (once you have taken out Shane and Wellies from the World cup squad with their probable replacements) lines up at the same average age and about 820 caps between them. England are copying Wales' approcach but are way behind. Clearly all things point to a wales victory in HQ this year. Wales

Please may I emphasise that this is a bickering and banter thread, whilst mild wumming and banter are allowed please try not to stray over the line of decency.

France and England are re building squads and coaching set ups, so neither would expect to win the Slam

Ireland is missing BOD, plus the rest of the golden generation are getting on a bit.

Scotland and Italy won't win it., sorry but you won’t.

The pressure is really on Wales to win, if they don't will Gatts and Co be given the boot, as that would be a huge failure given the circumstances.

poor HERSH come on you can do better than that surely?

Ouch... Laugh

Injuries can't really be used as an excuse by Gatts, his had plenty of time in the role and apart from his 1st year in charge Wales have done nothing.

You could also argue that the 2008 slam was down to Gareth Jenkins. Very Happy

if Wales don't win the 6 nations then Gatts is back to where he was before the RWC.

RWC record played 7, won 4, lost 3

Not great is it, plus the world cup warm ups were a mixed bag, add 4th place in last years 6 nations.

I'm confused as to why Wales are regarded so highly?

Trouble is their 'days' are few and far between.

So really it should be "occasionally they can beat an understrength good team if they play it in Cardiff" laughing

Little Wales really bugs you to the extent that it has become a obsession.

Only because we have to play you every year, if wed done what was suggested and ran off with France to join the Sanzars 9 years ago youd be forgotten little brothers.

................and Englands win loss ratio would be a heck of a lot more emabaressing

I see France as are biggest rivals anyway.

But answer me this, before the RWC Gatts and Co were struggling, now if they don't win this years 6 nations do they really have a future with Wales?

Eng and Fra are re building, Ireland are on a downward trend due to players getting older, talk about Dads army!

If Wales fail to win then Gatts has to go, IMO

I also see France as our biggest rivals. There is a lot of talk about Ireland wanting to beat Wales but in Wales it's the French game that's judged as being this years grudge match.

True, you must be fed up of losing to them every year. At least you go to cheat Ireland out of a win recently.

Peter I think England will do well now that a few youngsters have been put in the mix.
The most recent game against Ireland was during the world cup I was not aware of any cheating going on ?

Maybe up north, but down South the grudge match is England, everything else is secondary.
Ireland owe us two, we owe France one, so hopefully things will even themselves out. Yahoo

The unfortunate reality undermining that particular piece of logic Alyn is that Wales have apparently "owed" the current world cup holders "one" since shortly after the conclusion of the last world war. So as long as you're patient I'm sure your scores will be settled one day.

Wales should win the Grand Slam with the talent that they have, as on their day etc etc...

But I fear Gatland and Edwards will cost them that opportunity, both were good in their day but International rugby has moved on, they haven't!

So if Wales fail to win the 6 nations should Gats and Co walk?

I can't help but think that they have become too comfortable within their roles at the WRU.

Are they really doing that well?

People arent really biting with that tack HERSH, you keep trying it. Maybe your wumming needs a new coach a la Lancaster. Only short term of course until a decent successor can be found to take you wumming forward.

It's not a Wum it's my point of view, seeing as I've played at a high level and done a bit of coaching with some top teams I really can't see what all the Welsh fans see.

Look at the facts and stats and Gatts and Co are lucky to still have a job at the WRU, One swallow doesn't make a summer.

This 6 nations is huge for them, failure is not an option for Wales.

Personally, I think that this 6N is huge for HERSH, if he can't get even a dedicated Wales v England bickering forum humming with wumming, then he may need to walk on. He might be a bit too comfortable in his role as resident WUM.

I think were all down in the dumps with injury news at the moment so HERSH isnt even registering for most of us . Also the Ireland game is on sunday and its more fun watching the Irish bicker with themselves than baiting Sais tbh. After the matches at the weekend Im sure normal service will resume.

Didn't Huw Bennet do an alright job for you in the RWC despite widespread belief that he's cac?

Rhys Priestland would be a big loss obviously, but again, was he not missing for crucial parts of the RWC?

You'll be fine Hug , don't worry.

I hear that a large majority of Welsh fans are getting their excuses in early as they have far too many injuries to win in Ireland.

Pathetic excuse IMO.

No it's a brilliant one. It means the close win will be a huge victory against the odds.

Do try to keep up, there's a good man.

How can Wales, who,as everybody knows, are the best side in the NH, even consider making excuses for any 6 nations match , because they are so far ahead of the rest, and recently made a WC semi- final.

Just ask those great teams that they beat, such as Namibia, Fiji et al. So there is no doubting their pedigree, or is there???

However, time will tell, if Wales is The real article, or 'Fools Gold', i know where my money is. Wink
