The Wales vs England bickering thread, 2012 - PONIES ALLOWED!
First topic message reminder :
OK, every year we see threads that actually contain really good rugby discussion derailed by the ongoing Wales vs England bickering and WUMMING! I will name no names. I guess we have all been guilty .
Since most of the general bickering comes from the respective fans of Wales and England ; I thought I would create a thread for it in an effort to keep decent rugby discussion relatively WUM free in other threads.
So I will begin, An article in the Western Mail today pointed out how England are copying Gatlands youthful approach with a squad that has an average age of 25 and 428 caps between them.
http://www.walesonline.co.uk/rugbynation/rugby-news/2012/01/12/analysis-new-look-england-follow-youthful-wales-lead-91466-30105333/
Wales probable squad (once you have taken out Shane and Wellies from the World cup squad with their probable replacements) lines up at the same average age and about 820 caps between them. England are copying Wales' approcach but are way behind. Clearly all things point to a wales victory in HQ this year.

post script
Please may I emphasise that this is a bickering and banter thread, whilst mild wumming and banter are allowed please try not to stray over the line of decency.

England are building they really are building up to something special as the English media keeps telling us.
Headlines of
"Brave England slay Scotts"
"Lions roar in Italy"
"Charlie charge-down strikes again"
"Lancasters heros rule in Rome"
"Dogged brutal England"
My God even im started to be converted by this propaganda
New expansive England are a threat all over pitch.

If manu Flood and Lawes were Welsh they wouldn't get near the starting 22.
But i must admit Lawes is really good............at talking himself up and failing to deliver.

Re: The Wales vs England bickering thread, 2012 - PONIES ALLOWED!
You know its the first time in over 25 years since Wales have had to go to Twickenham and part of me is thinking we could guve the English a real thumping here. Normally its been hope mixed with a healthy dose of apathy. Living and working in Richmond for ten years i the 90s really didnt help.
Now its like it was all a very bad dream, Maggie was never prime minister, No New Labour just the good old socialist kind, Adam and the Ants are still cool and not in some ironic retro way. Max Boyce is selling out Treorchy RFC.
Or maybe its just the rugby team are good again.

Don't worry about us Oakey we'll be fine at Twickenham - North, Roberts, JD and Cuthbert will be known as the "Lancaster Bombers" when they wreak havoc on that stuttering side of yours - If you can get 4 charge down trys you might have a chance

Re: The Wales vs England bickering thread, 2012 - PONIES ALLOWED!
The English media Gusscott and co really seem to be throwing as much praise as possible on the last two dire snore fests that England won,it's coming across as desperate measures.
Just like cleaning the windows on the sinking Titanic.
Wales are coming and you yes you England! you are under immense pressure to protect them crumbling gates of Twickenham.
We just saw Wales play a complacent game against Scotland hapy to soak up the pressure and striking at will when necessary and finished with a nice comfortable score line.
The intensity levels are going to along the lines of South Africa and NewZealand that Wales will bring.
Yes it is arrogance because we are better than you and we know it

Re: The Wales vs England bickering thread, 2012 - PONIES ALLOWED!
you see the problem against england in england for wales is that i dunno if you can play with so much control , the players brains are gonna be lost to a nightmarish place were you have to serve english people day in day out for eternity!, its like england playing in ireland i suppose. tougher game than it needs to be, you lot know that, you are so worried. you love rugby so much and you wanna proove your better, its not enough to be better, you need to proove it. us english can soak up a loss and move on, i dunno if you welshies can, we may derail your train.

Re: The Wales vs England bickering thread, 2012 - PONIES ALLOWED!
I think English fans are in need of grief counselling for the death of their Rugby Teams prospects. At the moment there seems to be this clear element of denial in many English posts. After the welsh match I expect we shall see Anger probably directed unfairly at Lancaster and co. After France stomp all over them they will probably start bartering with the IRB to see if they can have North. Depression will kick in around the Irish game. By the summer tour hopefully there will be some acceptance of where there team really is and English Rugby can move forward. Its a bit like the nineties for Wales all being condensed into one season. 2011-12 has really been Englands Annus Horibilis.

seems to be a winner with the dumb fair weather bunch of fans the English are.

in seriousness i can see us getting beat by you guys and then coming back to almost beating the french and then finishing of with a win against the irish. improving in each of the 5 games and moving forward gradually.
then get a new coach and balls it up again!

Well i guess it's England 's to lose they are in the driving seat they can only be tipped as favourites, i guess one 6nation grand-slam earns them the right to big up themselves each year

btw view, my views on the arriva are more about the future of rugby union and the RFU over the england team!
i think if we followed a more competitive model we could increase the
value of rugby union. I know thats something traditionalists hate the
idea of, but there you go.
people blame the footy premiership the way it is run- what they forget
is the amount of revenue it generates for our country(and yours an all), and it also
increases the quailty of overall football, it also helps out lesser
nations, because there players get to play high level games week in week
out , which not only increases they quailty and there national teams
quality but also gets more lads from those countrioes into the game!

Anyone remember when Matthew Tait was going to be this beacon in world rugby with his amazing skill?
Also Danny Care?
Also Delon Armitage?
Also Steffan Armitage?
Also Matt Banahan?
Also Tom Croft?
Last season Ben Youngs was the best scrum half the world has ever seem according to the English fans and media now they all want him dropped.
Foden was even being touted as better than Jason Robinson the guy is useless.
Croft well the lad is average at best.

I heard after the stadium had been cleared out some of the players from both teams had a game of touch rugby to help get rid of some of their energy.

Feeling more confident today Luckless?
I'm surprised with your record at Twickers.
I have a really good feeling about this game for England, the previous two games were always going to be scrappy as that’s how Italy and Scotland play, at least Wales are a slightly better quality team to play against, even if they are playing their weaker team these days.

I might place a bet on Chris Ashton being the first try scorer in this match. At least that way I'll have some consolation when he does score, which he bloody will.
