The Wales vs England bickering thread, 2012 - PONIES ALLOWED!
First topic message reminder :
OK, every year we see threads that actually contain really good rugby discussion derailed by the ongoing Wales vs England bickering and WUMMING! I will name no names. I guess we have all been guilty .
Since most of the general bickering comes from the respective fans of Wales and England ; I thought I would create a thread for it in an effort to keep decent rugby discussion relatively WUM free in other threads.
So I will begin, An article in the Western Mail today pointed out how England are copying Gatlands youthful approach with a squad that has an average age of 25 and 428 caps between them.
http://www.walesonline.co.uk/rugbynation/rugby-news/2012/01/12/analysis-new-look-england-follow-youthful-wales-lead-91466-30105333/
Wales probable squad (once you have taken out Shane and Wellies from the World cup squad with their probable replacements) lines up at the same average age and about 820 caps between them. England are copying Wales' approcach but are way behind. Clearly all things point to a wales victory in HQ this year.

Please may I emphasise that this is a bickering and banter thread, whilst mild wumming and banter are allowed please try not to stray over the line of decency.

Not quite sure why you are looking to try to deny this obvious fact. It must really rile you to think of England's success?
The only obvious fact is that you do not beat Australia regulary. And how would you own them in world cups, isn't it 3 all?
2003, obviously owned them.
2007, completely owned them.
Owned them home and away since.
Remind me of Wales' record against Australia recently? Or perhaps TO could just post a representative image of a pony doing a crap.

I hope the Welsh show good ettiquette and stay to the end of the game, rather than filing out en-masse when the scoreline gets hopeless.
I hate watching the entire second half of a game in an 1/4 empty stadium - there's no atmosphere.

Should the RFU print the match day programme in Welsh too?

'Owned' must have changed its meaning and I must have missed it. When you require extra time to beat the opposition by a drop goal, and when you need their kicker to miss to allow you to escape with the win, that doesn't suggest you've 'owned' them at all.
You have a good recent record against Australia. But there's no need to lie.

Far from it, Mysti - as I've said, you have a good recent record against the Wallabies; but it's untrue to say you 'own' them. Your record speaks for itself without wumming posters exaggerating things.

Where is the lie? Australia don't seem able to buy a win against us at the moment. Are you denying that we beat them in record style at Twickenham on the last meeting? Or completely dismantled them up front in front of their home crowd before that? England have a very very good record against Australia at the moment, and playing them wouldn't worry me, I think psychologically we've got a hold on them, and this explains some of that "last minute luck" as you prefer to see it.

Re: The Wales vs England bickering thread, 2012 - PONIES ALLOWED!
We've owned them psychologically for some time. 2003 devastated the Australian psyche and probably paved the way for the Ashes success.
2007 - again as soon as the scrum started to go they knew they were beaten before half time came.
Since then, Australia have been fragile against us, culminating in the record defeat at Twickenham.
No sense of a WUM - just honest appraisal that Australia upstairs are frightened of England at the moment, but would back their ability to beat anyone else in the NH. Having a mental hold over a team buys you half a dozen points before the kickoff.

i think you raise a very good point- mentality and rugby.
Ireland have the number on ENGLAND in ireland, Scotland had the number on us in Murryfiled, England have the number on Australia, France have the number on Ireland. but of course most importantly
ENGLAND HAVE THE NUMBER ON WALES AT TWICKERS

I don't comment on Wales v England, except to say I hope it's a great game, good luck to both sides and may we see something of the calibre of spectacle put on by the Irish on the last outing. Top drawer stuff. Certainly a win for Wales would only increase their momentum and self belief.

I wonder if Gatland will attempt to sing the Welsh anthem again, it just looks like his heart isn't in it judging by his last effort against Scotland.
Imo, I think he mimes it.

I didn't get it at all. I think TO continued with it because he worked out it was winding me up. I complained to the mods about it because it was making the page load times ridiculous and they put them all in spoilers. Personally I think pony art has no place on a rugby forum, but then I'm not a moderator.
