The Wales vs England bickering thread, 2012 - PONIES ALLOWED!
First topic message reminder :
OK, every year we see threads that actually contain really good rugby discussion derailed by the ongoing Wales vs England bickering and WUMMING! I will name no names. I guess we have all been guilty .
Since most of the general bickering comes from the respective fans of Wales and England ; I thought I would create a thread for it in an effort to keep decent rugby discussion relatively WUM free in other threads.
So I will begin, An article in the Western Mail today pointed out how England are copying Gatlands youthful approach with a squad that has an average age of 25 and 428 caps between them.
http://www.walesonline.co.uk/rugbynation/rugby-news/2012/01/12/analysis-new-look-england-follow-youthful-wales-lead-91466-30105333/
Wales probable squad (once you have taken out Shane and Wellies from the World cup squad with their probable replacements) lines up at the same average age and about 820 caps between them. England are copying Wales' approcach but are way behind. Clearly all things point to a wales victory in HQ this year.

Please may I emphasise that this is a bickering and banter thread, whilst mild wumming and banter are allowed please try not to stray over the line of decency.

He has let me down in my fantasy league, I was hoping for at least a couple by now but he has been way off his best. Not sure if I an going to change him out or not for the wales game I need to pick up some points badly at the moment.

Tycroes, I just have a feeling he's going to score against us. I am not looking forward to it.

well I expect England to conjure a try against us so if its going to be anyone it will be him. At the moment I have so many french and Irish players as well my fantasy team is struggling.

I agree that 2011-12 has been Englands Annus Horibilis what with them being 6N champions without a GS, and only a RWC quarter final, but to compare them to Wales's woes is more than a tad OTT. When Wales get it wrong they get the wooden spoon in the 6N and fail to get out of their group at the RWC despite being the only team to play all their games at home!! Not only that but they get knocked out of the RWC by a sand bank in the pacific ocean. England havent had as horrible an bum as Wales haave managed ever.
Also Why stipulate Wales in the '90's? They have been generally useless throughout the naughties as well, apart from one deserved GS and one devalued one. All those losses to Italy must smart a bit. I wonder what thaat actually feels like.

Ahem the Six nations win last year was well last year and not in the 2011-12 season. Nevermind though dont let facts get in the way of delusion.

But the fact is, we won the 2011 6N in 2011. Check your origional post - you wrote 2011-2012 rather than the 2011-12 season, hence I quoted it. I can of course fully understand why you chose to ignore the rest of my post.
Unfortunately, I am sure that I will discover what it feels like to lose to Italy eventually just like you might one day feel what a RWC win, or even beating the AB's home and away feels like as a fan, well maybe not the latter points but there is always (completely missplaced) hope!

Re: The Wales vs England bickering thread, 2012 - PONIES ALLOWED!
England last years 6 nations champions,Ranked 4th in the world by IRB, beat Australia home and away (ok a little over a year) got to the World cup Quarters, and hence won 4 out of 5. So a Bad season for England!!
Now lets contrast this with Wales a World cup team in waiting if i've ever seen one.
Poor 6 nations last year beaten by England (at Home Snigger) and had a torrid time. Prior to this in 10 -11 season were they on their run of 8 defeats on the trot culminating in a defeat at home to Samoa!!
Then on to this mighty triumph for Wales of the last World cup, which seems to have confirmed every Welsh Rugby fans dreams, until their record is looked at.
Beat Namibia and 3 other teams with the only one of note being a declining Ireland, but credit where its due they won well!! But when up against SH opposition like SA and Ausralia and France they LOSE!
So i look and look and you know, i don't know why the average Welsh fan is so cocky with their 8th Ranked side. Maybe its a triumph of Belief over reality. Hope they don't get too disappointed!!
Actually i don't because reality is a helluva thing, especially when your national pride rests on a Rugby game.

Sorry to interrupt your ramblings, but Wales are fifth in the IRB rankings. If we beat you a week on Saturday, you'll be fifth.

But for future reference don't over feed the next one!
What sort of league/club/region allow their professional players to pile on the pounds like the Welsh boys do?
