First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has teleported to Mexico City for the first qualifying match for RWC 2015. There's also TVs showing Aviva Premiership, Rabobank Pro 12 and Super XV action.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of the Grand Slam Winners or Dan Carter who returns to rugby this weekend.

If I could manage to wrangle a job here then I'd stay in Chester for the summer. Otherwise it's back to Ireland after I get back from Tanzania until August when hopefully I'll be helping out with a few summer camps here in Chester, in Somerset and one on the Isle of Wight.

England and Wales all out for 193. Not a Welshman in the XI, which explains it.

Who cares? I do actually. I am schizophrenic about Cricket and England. Whether I want them to win or not can vary wildly within test matches even. Sometimes I think why am I supporting England? Are Australia that objectionable? In the Ashes I was supporting the Jones boys.
You want an honest answer, Glas?
Well, yes and no...
If we're winning, then 'Yes'
When we're losing, then 'No'
Does that make any sense to you?
Anyway, I prefer watching them struggle from time to time. It's character building you know.

I thought you'd pick that up. I can get behind the Windies and the Subcontinent teams, even NZ in cricket (a 'big ask' if ever there was one) but despite wanting to support Australia Ponting, the Waughs, Warne or Lee always seem to have put me off.

You'd get on well with my Mum She is not a big fan of those guys.
I'm the same with NZ. I'd like to see NZ do well but alas... it rarely happens.
I've lived through the Windies massacres of the 80's (in fact I was featured a few times jumping over the fence at the SCG in my disgusting addidas t-shirt... which has ironically been revived in high fashion these days) - but I somehow have a soft spot for their team now. Still want us to win the Test series of course.
I sort of like Pakistan funnily enough. I'm all for bending the rules every now and then.
I don't mind SL... but oddly, I want England & Wales to win this one.
Not a huge fan of India and SA.

They're getting their confidence back. It will be a close Test series.
I love watching them all dancing in the crowd... some real soul there.
Unlike Australia.

Another wicket for Swanny. Sanga gone. 41/4.
Ha Billy. Things are more controlled these days. I've been through all the highs and lows at the SCG. It used to be near hysteria in some of those nail biting matches (or so it seemed) Some absolute characters there.
Now it's all very tame. Without the Hill something's been lost.
Slippery grass banks drenched with beer for one.

I am not sure how it is now breaker but when i was there in the early 90's it was madness. Brilliant atmosphere and loads of drunk people just having a grand old time.

Tell me about it. I'm working with about four Irish blokes. They have an exceptionally heavy pull-rate... or so they say.
(not disputing their claims but they do tend to exaggerate other day-to-day things slightly... a bit like your typical Munster rugby fan)

I see. So Royce must have been on the nose then?
You must be happy with Hull KR beating Huddersfield? Good win that!
Still surprised over the Wakefield win. I didn't see that coming at all.
It's a tricky comp to pick winners I reckon.

Chuffed with Rovers win but i do wish we could be more consistant , we play well for 60 minutes a game then just stop it really annoys me
It has been hard to predict this year with everyone beating everyone else , each team has had at least one great game

No, I was looking for it back in this thread. Only went back to page 8 though.
Can you post it?
All I remember from '76 was
Leif Garret & ABBA (you got bashed if you mentioned either)
Skateboards
Montreal Olympics... a bit of a let down.
getting up to no good at school... always 'in detention'
