First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has teleported to Mexico City for the first qualifying match for RWC 2015. There's also TVs showing Aviva Premiership, Rabobank Pro 12 and Super XV action.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of the Grand Slam Winners or Dan Carter who returns to rugby this weekend.

You're probably right. I'll find out more when we catch up for drinks Friday arvo. The Irish lass' birthday and also to celebrate winning 3 tenders.
How's the tour planning going? Are you going to NZ this year?

Line,
We are offering one for the NZ tour but there is basically no uptake really. So far its all journos. Most people with cash to go have already been to NZ this year for RWC.
Our first site visit to Australia is taking place at the minute. My boss is out there doing it now. I'll do second one this time next year.
I've about another 4 clubs tours to organise in next month or so across UK and France. So its all going well.

Love the way you call it a 'site' visit.
Best time of year is now (March-April) not too hot, cool & very pleasant in the mornings. The smell of rugby is in the air now and one can hear the ref's whistles blowing every 30 secs in the park opposite on Saturday mornings.
(there's always a few games going on at once)

A bit cooler there in the evenings. I quite like the place and country around Canberra is very nice.
There's a grand hotel called The Kurrajong (near Capital Hill) but probably the ones near Civic (northern side of the Lake where the stadium is) are less expensive, have good deals on and are closer to the ground, although it's very easy to get around the place.

Oh Breaker we have all our hotels and itineraries fully planned. I'll be emailing everyone on the list with prices soon.
I'm looking forward to meeting up with you and buying you a beer though its still ages away. The 606 meet ups are the best part of the pub. Hopefully for the tour itself we'll have a few regs along also.

I might be over in the UK in a few months (before Olympics)... if I can get away for a few weeks.
I plan to go to Amsterdam, catch up with Gibbo/Billy, then London for some pints with the 606 crew. Cardiff and Dublin would be well worth a visit too... and Limerick of course.
Heck, why not Scotland as well. Gotta make the most of it!
Maybe get there for Heineken Cup Final... May19?

Dublin is probably easiest if you are coming to Ireland. If your not coming to Limerick for rugby there is nothing else really there.
Rugby is probably the biggest industry in the city. We would actually be an economic blackspot without Munster.

Luckless you dont think they BUY knives?
Nah you can steal anything if you put your mind to it and a resourceful scumbag can fashion a makeshift dagger together out of anything pointy.
Hows your new puppy doing btw?

Just fascinated with the countryside/landscape/history/culture... and the rugby too in a way - but not obsessed or anything like.
Have enough sport here to keep me occupied. I was actually thinking of taking a step away from some of it this year. Too much for too long... if you know what I mean? We're a bit like Ireland over here with the 4 codes in full swing.

Nah Breaker, mostly they only stab or attack their own. Limerick has a gang feud that has led to the moniker Stab City.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2007/feb/02/ukcrime.prisonsandprobation
Recently there was a big moment for the city when a gang member got life imprison for killing the captain of one of the local rugby teams in a case of mistaken identity.

Oh, thought it was 3 or 4. No probs. I used to drive up to Brisbane in one go stopping at Hexham for brekkie; Coff's for lunch.
It was fairly knackering but you get used to it when you've clocked up over a million kms! (more than to the Moon and back)

good to hear Rhys T is on the mend: http://www.scarlets.co.uk/eng/news/4760.php
And it is amazing how much work I can do when I'm not on here. Only got a handful of stuff left to check and put on a work sheet, then I can just pay them all off this afternoon #superspeedy
Just been out on my lunch break to, wish I could work outside on days like today!

I can do Dublin (Gibbo's ma's house) to Belfast in about one and a half hours. Another 50 minutes from Belfast to home.

Rodders - its about 90 minutes to 2 hours from Galway to Limerick.
I think Belfast-Dublin-Limerick is by far the better option. Motorway the whole way. Where in Limerick are you staying.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Mexico City Rugby Cantina
Maldron out on the ring road stag...whereever that is....
OK so that would be 1.5 to Belfast + 2 to Dubloons + 2 to stab city = 5.5 hrs.
Jeebus good job the GF likes driving .....
Need to make sure I'm down in time to watch the Leinster game on Saturday too.

Give yourself 7 hours. Break up the journey in between Belfast and Dub and also between Dub and Limerick.
Leave your gaff at about 6am and you'll be comfortably in Limerick for 13.00 and you've had a nice brekkie and a lunch.

Yea a meet up is nice. I find once you've met up with someone and had a pint the online chat/banter gets much easier as you can judge the tone easier etc.
Pubs are very easy to get to. I'm happy to show you around to them anyway.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Mexico City Rugby Cantina
Thanks stag... I actually meant the pubs you pm'd me about as opposed to me trying to gatecrash on a pub meet or whatever....
But yeah I'd be happy to meet with any 606v2ers at the QF for a ...... think I'd rather meet DOD and SinE on neutral turf though!...

I just shed a man-tear. Of all the players who ever played pro-rugby on this Planet, he was my favourite. So intelligent, so charasmatic and so brilliant.
I love you Shagster. And I always will.
Best winger Leinster and Ireland ever had. Even better than Hickie or Geoghegan. And that's saying something.
So happy he won 2 x HC's with the team he grew up and played with.
Cant talk. Welled-up.

Sad one about Horgan alright, he was in sparkling form last season and had plenty left in the tank. He's had a great career though.

I remember being furious when Sir Clive Woodcock selected Shane Horgan on the left wing for the first Lions Test against New Zealand in 2005. We lost the match, and I got my wish when he selected Shane Williams for the second Test - which ended in a record defeat.

I recall Horgan doing a decent shift in the centre on that tour. He was one of the few players like Ryan Jones, Simon Easterbuy, Alfie etc. who seemed to shine on that tour and not be totally overpowered and blown away by the NZ players.

I did Stag, i just chose to ignore it.
We'll see about education Gibbo. My first priority is that i see it, then i'll bend the ear off anyone who'll listen about why it's better than football. I may not make it out alive, Amanda's bro used to play for Liverpool youths and her cousin is with Tranmere, I think it's safe to say their a football family. But i will indignantly refuse to call it football, i'll call it soccer the whole time.
Jeysus, they're going to love me...

I reckon they'll love ya wherever you go Mick. Just use that charm and turn soccerball Red to Leinster Blue.
They are all 2nd-division Paddies anyway.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Mexico City Rugby Cantina
I get criticised for saying soccer too but there is no such game as just "football". There is Association Football which is shortened as Soccer for "association"
There is no such sport as "Football" same as there is no such sport as "Rugby".
We all just call them things for short.
