Munster v Ulster
First topic message reminder :
Well what a difference a few days make. Leinster stroll past Munster in Thomond, Ulster cruise past Airioni and now definitely fancy their chances on Sunday and rightly so.
My Munster team if players available would be
1. Wian Du Preez
2. Mike Sheery
3. BJ
4. DOC1
5. POC
6. DR
7. POM
8. Coughlan
9. Murray
10. ROG
11. ZEBO
12. Maifi
13. Earls
14. Hurley
15. Jones
Pretty much picks itself bar hooker and back row. Line out was just so bad that Varley has to pay the price. May not have been all his fault but Sherry has been knocking on the door and deserves a shot at this level.
DOC2 had a solid game but I think the partnership of POC and DOC should stand us well. DR to the back row.
Rodders Ulster team
15 Terblanche
14 Trimble
13 Cave
12 Wallace
11 Gilroy
10 IHumph
9 Pienaar
8 Wannenburg
6 Diack
7 Henry
5 Touhy
4 Muller
3 Afoa

Munster and Leinster were both beaten by the O's at home this year. Probably a first for the league.
Munster lost to the O's last year,,this season but last year so technically the statement is correct.

I still don't think your Technically correct.
You say O's beat them last year, but was that not still in this season 8 October 2011.
so when you said "Leinster on Saturday was their first home defeat in a competitive game this season." that was wrong as it's the second loss of the season at home.
So Mickado was right.
This pedanticness in infectious.

Do you think Ulster are going to have to make multiple plans to deal with O'Connell, Murray, Wallace and Ryan. The 4 of them could all be fit. Or could all be out.

He's been spotted squatting with Boeing 737s down at Belfast intl airport Billy. When hes fully fit he uses Airbuses so hes probably not quite 100%.

I don't think we need to make multiple game plans
One should be enough to win regardless of who is playing in red!

Can Ulster win on the road though. The only away game they could muster a win from was Aironi.
They failed against Biarritz last year. Then failed against Saints. This year they failed against Tigers. They failed against Clermont. They'll fail against Munster.

And sure dont worry if you do lose because as per usual it'll be the ref's fault Ulster couldn't step up to the plate.

Your absolutely right stag are run hasn't been great but game on game away from home we are getting closer to winning, or more specifically performing better and i think that the performance against Clermont away has given the squad a real belief that they can pull of a "marquee" win away and no better place than in the "fortress" of European rugby
Really can't wait for this one

I don't class Munster as an away game though stag, sure Stand spends his holidays down there FFS!
It's wet and windy, they sell , you get stabbed if you end up in the wrong pub and you can't understand a word anyone says!

Im sure whatever the score it will be a moral victory - like the defeat against Saints last year
Rodders come out of your hotel - turn left and after about 100m turn left again. Thats Limerick City kid!!

Personally anything less than victory and progression to the SF will be seen as failure .... nobody here is interested or consoled by moral victories
This game is there for the taking and if we are to shed this unlucky losers tag we seem to have been given we have to go into this match believing we will win
and win we will.... believe

Not at all Don. We have our list of excuses ready made.
Paul O'Connell injured
Conor Murray injured
Donnacha Ryan injured
Denis Leamy injured
David Wallace injured
Niall Ronan injured
Doug Howlett injured
7 of our internationals injured. We weren't favourites anyway, we have Roman Poite who of course hates Munster etc etc etc etc

Re: Munster v Ulster
Have to say seriously looking forward to having a pint with you pal.
BTW I propose a virtual bet. If Munster win I want a thoroughly convincing article about how Ulster lack a sense of community spirit, are not a true team and are reliant upon a legion of foreign mercenaries
Should Ulster win, I am happy to pen a similar piece on how Ulster are "the new Munster" with the men in red now the 3rd best team in the land.
Re: Munster v Ulster
I look forward to reading that article about Ulsters lack of spirit.
There is a lot of soul searching going on in Munster after that poor performance on the weekend. Ulster can expect one hell of a backlash and the Munster faithful in full voice.

Not at all Rodders, sure whats wrong with:
01 Horan
02 Varley
03 Archer
04 Ryan
05 O'Connell (c)
06 O'Mahony
07 Wallace
08 Leamy
09 Murray
10 O'Gara
11 Zebo
12 Downey
13 Earls
14 Hurley
15 Jones
Easy peasy all Irish team with oodles of Irish reserves. We simply add a sprinkling of foreign talent.
Ulster on the other hand - Court, Diack, Muller, Wannenberg, Pienaar, Terblanche, Payne, Danielli, Darcy, Kyriacou, Tuohy - these are all people who moved to Ireland as adults to get a bit of rugby game time. The Foreign Legion!!
We are producing serious talent - Munster A crushed the Ravens in the quarter finals dont forget - and have young guys like Murray, O'Mahony, Zebo, Earls, Jones in our starting team.
Re: Munster v Ulster
Stag, that team would get mushed. In the scrums if nothing else.

Sure what else is new? Our scrum got mushed against Northampton and we shipped two penalty tries. We still beat them by a 40 point margin and ran in 50 points.
That team would be fine outside of the scrum.
Re: Munster v Ulster
We don't really DO props in Munster. We send them away thats our thing.
Leinster, Connacht and Ulster all have a Munster tight head on their books. We have Tony Buckley playing his trade over in England too.
We'd rather work on developing the next generation while others look to buy buy buy.
Rather than getting excited about Kaino coming to Ulster or who "Humphs" can unveil as his latest signing I'd get developng your team instead.

That team would beat Ulster's homegrown troops.
It would be 15 against about 5, sure include a few of the lads who got trounced in the RDS aswell, and we would still beat them.

The other thing we export are coaches:
Eddie O'Sullivan
Michael Bradley
Conor O'Shea
Declan Kidney
Anthonly Foley is next in line. Dont worry.
Your Irish head coach has been given the sack and your bringing in New Zealanders to replace him.
Re: Munster v Ulster
Correct.
You don't even have an Irish head coach to sack. All the good 'uns have fled already.
And I wouldn't boast too much about exporting Declan Kidney, big guy.

Ah I'll think of something. I'll probably distract you by yelling "hey look a semi decent Antipodean/African player" and when you all fawn over him I'll hastily change the subject.
It'll work a treat.

Why not? He has given Ireland an underage Rugby World Cup and a 6 Nations Grandslam. He seems very fair and even picked Paddy Wallace in loads of matches instead of taking him away to have him melted down and made into glue.
