Munster v Ulster
First topic message reminder :
Well what a difference a few days make. Leinster stroll past Munster in Thomond, Ulster cruise past Airioni and now definitely fancy their chances on Sunday and rightly so.
My Munster team if players available would be
1. Wian Du Preez
2. Mike Sheery
3. BJ
4. DOC1
5. POC
6. DR
7. POM
8. Coughlan
9. Murray
10. ROG
11. ZEBO
12. Maifi
13. Earls
14. Hurley
15. Jones
Pretty much picks itself bar hooker and back row. Line out was just so bad that Varley has to pay the price. May not have been all his fault but Sherry has been knocking on the door and deserves a shot at this level.
DOC2 had a solid game but I think the partnership of POC and DOC should stand us well. DR to the back row.
Rodders Ulster team
15 Terblanche
14 Trimble
13 Cave
12 Wallace
11 Gilroy
10 IHumph
9 Pienaar
8 Wannenburg
6 Diack
7 Henry
5 Touhy
4 Muller
3 Afoa

Nice spot more than 2 hours or so away from the city. It's a posh enough spot for all the people yachting, although that would be more for the Schull types.

Jeez lads can't you find a social networking site or something
A nice win in the b&I cup tonight. Heard Neil Francis on the radio suggesting the Munster team were a bunch of no hopers....seems the galacticos aren't that galactic after all

Calm down DOD, it's not a big deal like. Think of JBM and how good the hurlers will be in 2-3 years. That will calm you down.

Really, they are doing a lot better than I expected them to be. I know it's the league but still.
Anyway, I really like the inclusion of O'Donnell and Sherry. It reminds me of O'Leary, Ryan and Hurley getting in during the 08 campaign.

Very very true. It means we wont just be doing same things we did in group stages
Re: Munster v Ulster
I mean I get highly agitated watching them...good or bad, and yes they are showing a lot of promise...lets see in the summer but JBM is something else
The win tonight cheered me up. I think it was insulting to see them being written off by some especially when you consider some of the players...i think the leinster youngfellas don't understand cup rugby Munster style yet...
more of a discussion board don't you think stag...anyhow am only joking but young thomond has the same lack of humour you do...

Don't watch the footballers so, they will bore you to tears. It's a shame they play such boring stuff when they have great players.
To be fair to me DOD, between Leeds losing again, my golf bets going awry and Cork City not picking up points against Bohs (2 from 18 FFS) I'm not in the best of moods! The A team win was fantastic.

Pity Aiden Walsh and Ciaran Sheehan didn't go with the hurlers this year...would make a big difference

Now there's two of us. At least its not just me.
To think we had an all Kerry midfield today
Re: Munster v Ulster
Yep 1-0 to Bohs. Some lads are good enough for the step up but are a bit full of themselves and losing their star striker, Graham Cummins, hasn't helped, so dependent on him. It's like Ulster without Paddy Wallace
A mate of my dad's told me how he thought Walsh was a decent hurler but not a natural one. This guy knows his stuff, (has been talking about Lehane for a good 3/4 years) but I was a bit surprised by the comment. He had one of the best individual displays I have seen in the U-21 game v Limerick last year and that point! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uk4LajrTZW0
I have heard good things about Sheehan but have never seen him hurl. It looks promising for the hurlers going forward. Sweetnam will probably end up picking rugby, he is in the Munster Academy too.
Anyway, the bench for Sunday will be crucial. (probably the main thing I forgot to mention in the piece I did ) having a game changer like Wally coming off the bench is massive, do Ulster have that quality?

Thomond, they will say that Adam Darcy and Paul Marshal are that quality
Seriously they will. We have O'Callaghan and Wallace. Both will be serious impact players to that pack.

Re: Munster v Ulster
Don't mention the K word stag
Walsh might not be a natural but he would be a great ball winner...as is Sheehan. Bulk up th half forward line and good scorers. Re Walsh...Christy Ring didn't rate John Fenton either

Yerra shure Ulster are brilliant and they should alll be playing for Ireland and we might as well not turn up..
Is Cari still obsessed with Cadogan...she might get to see more of him over the summer. Hopefully

Re: Munster v Ulster
Rory, I actually have no worries about them.
Varley and Horan are fine for 20 minutes at the end of a game. They aren't as good at scrums as Sherry and du Preez but they'll be ok.
They won't cripple us by any means. The scrum was especially bad last week as we were missing 4 of our front 5. Only BJ Botha is starting.

Just pray that Archer doesn't get a start
But seriously, your bench isn't all that great. The less said about the front row the better, DOC is average, Wallace who is one of my all time favourites has unfortunately only had one game in about 8 months, TOL LOL, Keatley has been average and Murphy is pretty good. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the Ulster bench though

Yeah our bench is c.ap...we just shouldn't bother...
Any bit of luck Spence will come on...meat and drink for Mafi and bound to get a few penalties off him. As for bobbly head Marshall....

It will be tight. I have a fiver on it to be a draw at half time and another fiver on Munster to win by exactly 8.

Munster by 12 - 15 points I think.

I've always thought D'Arcy, Marshall and McAllister are our best impact players. I'm not sure why you've highlighted Spence and Stevenson.

Seriously they will. We have O'Callaghan and Wallace. Both will be serious impact players to that pack.
I'm not sure about O'Callaghan actually. To be fair, if it wasn't for the impact D'Acy and Marshall can bring we probably would have lost to Clermont at Ravenhill. Then Marshall got the bonus point for us against Leicester... if it's about players having an impact on the game when they come on, they have a track record of doing it well.

One thing about Tomas O'Leary, which might lessen their impact - he is a pacy and brilliant defender.

Whatever about his unfortunate cameo for Ireland he has done very well for us in the HC this year. .

Apart from one horrible performance (I think against Scarlets in Thomond?) but he turned in some excellent cameos from the bench especially in the opening matches against Northampton and Castres.

I think the whole team had a stinker for that game...we barely flopped over the line, but he was bad alright
