Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership Season 4 Homepage
All Blacks havent had a good no9 since Justin Marshall - amazing how they can't produce good ones! Reckon there are 3-4 English no9s who would be in with a shout for them.
But I guess all a NZ no9 needs to do is pass the ball to Carter!

I'm a little intrigued with Cowan actually, could be a really astute bit of business. Or could be a complete flop like Donald.
I quite fancy Gloucester next season though, their kids will be a year older and wiser and they've recruited well so far.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership Season 4 Homepage
I am fairly happy with Cowan to be honest. Not going to rock the world but will be steady. should help the young uns and is cheap and available all year.
My only worry is we are signing a player who is 2nd choice for his club with a rumoured drink problem like Guildford. Is this why he is available to us!??
Sale are signing players like Richie grey so easy to envy other clubs. Think you will be strong next season Steve

I think Donald will be good next year as he will have a pre season. He has been man of match last couple of games but has been gash most of season
Guest- Guest
Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership Season 4 Homepage
Reckon Donald will come good this season - he pretty much had no pre-season apart from drinking beer and fishing to playing in a WC final to then joining Bath - from sounds of it he's been injured quite a bit too.
He'll be good next year, shown glimpses of it.
Cowan should bring Glaws some experience, guess he'll be quite good behind a pack that could struggle in some games.

He had a servere talking to from Bath management apparently, told to buck his ideas up or do one.
May have given him a wake up call, just seems disinterested. That game against Sale was it? Was one of the worst I've seen from an AB.

I hope we will be Matt. A little concerned for our scrummage with Buckley obviously but hopefully Thomas and ELR will be our TH's.
I want us to fit Cips and Macleod into the same side though so think we will have to move Tuitupou to 13 with Mac at 12.

I wonder who'll you pair Gray up with in the engine room Steve? He's got a bit of a reputation as a poor scrummager, definatley don't want him behind Buckley!
ELR could be a good signing though, been playing well for Toulon.

Gray is seen as a good scrummaging lock these days he was said to be underpowered when he was playing international rugby at the age of 19 which is to be expected.
Imagine what he will be line in a few years when he is 24/25 absolutely frightening prospect.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership Season 4 Homepage
To be fair locks role underestimated in scrums. In the waratahs vs crusaders game they were pointing out Owen franks struggling against Ben Robinson and said reason franks was struggling a bit this year was thorn missing. Bakkies and thorn monster scrummagers
Guest- Guest
Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership Season 4 Homepage
Agree with that Matt, some locks make big differences to scrums. That's why I like to see Gray with a lump. He's not a 4 but would great alongside a Bakkies/Thorn

Do you think geraghty is a good option nick??
Personally he is not for me and I think they need a more solid ten.
I like some of Irish other signings though. Steven jones would have been good for you

I prefer this signing to jones. He is a player someone has bought in foreigns In this game. Geraghty could go either way but with homer kicking takes some pressure off him.

I believe we are signing Andy Goode Chris, to fill the vacant tighthead position. It is conditional on him losing some weight though!

I hope we have Frazer McKenzie or Ostrikov partnering him. gaskell and Gray would be tremendously lightweight.

THought Goodey was aiming to get into the back three Pete - all that gas would be wasted in the pack. He's strong enough for it though. What a player.

No Elliot Daly either - think he's getting the whole summer off as he's playing with a knee injury at the moment, which stops him being Wasps main kicker - think that kick against Gloucester was the biggest point of Wasps season, pretty much saved us (as long as Falcons cant work out how to score tries!).
Ford must be going with the main squad - losing Croft is a big blow.

Spent a lot of the season out with a serious knee injury this year so they might just be wanting to rest him over the summer.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership Season 4 Homepage
Gaskell and Launchbury as a lock combo would get slaughtered, way too lightweight, especially against S.A.
Also Saull is injured (and not very good) and Steffon is in playoffs with Toulon so cant go.

not sure if you can leave out anthony allen after the season he's had, prefer him to guys like JTH, but certainly not long-term solution, has been in blinding form for Tigers though

Don't know much about him to be honest nick, but am prepared to back Smith's judgement. Looks a big fella and if he can play 12 and get over the gainline and offload with the likes of JJ, Losi, Marland, Topsy and Ant Watson outside of him he could be just the man for us.
Am getting excited about next season already!!!
