The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Edinburgh
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has ventured to Edinburgh, as the team has made their first ever Heineken Cup Semi Final.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Martyn Williams, Shane Williams, Paddy Jackson, Paul O'Connell and Tim Visser.

Swansea care more about Paul O'Connell than their own country

Stag, what did you make of another of the Sexton clan grabbing the headlines at the weekend?
For our non-Irish regs, Mark Sexton came on as a substitute in St Mary’s win over young Munster and scored 2 tries.
I met that lad a few years ago on a night out in Dublin. Top top man.

Nah I was only kidding with you.
Just mentioned it in passing. Nothing to do with me either really. Although Mary’s are probably my closest club, or it could be Terenure… doesn’t really matter though. I’ve only ever been a Saint Annes of Bohernabreena man…

Ah puma - the 'spare' HC ticket is kiwi's. He wad second in line after linebreaker couldn't make it. I hope you get somethibg sorted.
The venue arrangements prior to the final were all sorted out at the weekend, but I'll let As advise on that - he organised it. Let's just say that we are handily placed for getting to the ground.
Hoog has sorted the post match stuff.

We are indebted to our London based regs, just as we were to Penfro last time.
I am so looking forward to this now. Hope Ulster are there but I will enjoy myself nonetheless

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Edinburgh
I was at a funeral of a dear old man who i have known nearly my whole life.
He would have been 90 next year if he'd been spared.
Heard a great story about him. I'll call him David. He had been married to Jane for over 60 years. At the time of their 50th Wedding Anniversary a huge bouquet of flowers was delivered to their home. Jane was absolutely thrilled and called David into the front room to admire them. After a wee while and lots of Ooohs and ahhs she opened the wee card attached to the flowers.
With genuine shock she turned to her hubby and said,
"The card says they are from someone called David!? Who on earth could that be? Do we know anyone called David?"
After that he decided to send her flowers every month. After 2 months she told him there was no need to spend the money on flowers. I reckon after 50 years together she didn't need flowers to let her know he loved her.
Made me smile.

Ah that's nice Mrs P.
I was going to ask why the Wales v Ireland from last year should be voided, as if you take off the three points you gained after a blatant knock on, it's still 19-10 to Wales. Dim problem
Those of you on twitter might have seen School of Hard Knocks is repeated on free view channel 11 or something. I retweeted it for yous anyway. Might work out for some of you. I'll just watch it in glorious HD.

Alright Cari, how's things?
Everyone's off having their dinner I guess.
Rumour has it that Ealing are playing a friendly in the Diff before next season. That will be a hoot. I'm guessing it will be against Cardiff RFC, which would be about the right level.

If the game happens we're coming. Love the 'Diff. Funny enough, talking to hoog after the London Scottish game on Saturday, we would be happy for every HC final to be at the MS.
I know ERC wouldn't entertain that, but last year was a great occasion. Terrific buzz around the city.

Kiwi, if and when you get in, would you like to set up a 606v2 Pool in Sportguru for the Euro 2012 Soccer Championships? I would do it but you can put it on as a sticky and attract a lot more interest than I can.

You baad boy.
Its the best Rugby stadium Ive ever been in. For all the right reasons. Atmosphere being the main one. Being in the centre of the City really makes it special. 70,000 with the roof on and the lights dimmed for internal fireworks... Man... It was so beautiful.

Rava, it's what we're all about that matters. We'll be grand an Twickenham is a fine stadium once you're inside it.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Edinburgh
Nh prop, I was just taking the hand. Just needs some changes at the WRU and regional level- the talent is so obviously there.
What I don't understand is where the money goes in Welsh rugby. Ireland are able to keep their best players because the national team is in profit- the national team subsidises the provinces. How is the shortfall in regional profit not made up for by the WRU?
Oh, wait; probably because of the stadiums. Those were a series of incredibly stupid moves that set you back years.

Just back from Ffoslas. The Scarlets were out in force. Almost bumped into Andy Fenby, literally. I think he tried to drop the shoulder as we passed on the stairs, but he missed.
Phill John had brown brogues, a navy padded jacket affair and a green tweed flat cap. The blue jeans wouldn't quite set the outfit off you'd think, but it wasn't bad.
Rhys Priestland had a runner. Three legged donkey.

Fixed that for you.
If dopey Darren is right and our average squad age is 22, I give us four years until we make the Heino again. Then you can all look out.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Edinburgh
Hi All
Just a very brief note - have returned from wild and wolly south west Ireland. Wonderful timne, superb weather ... well until it turned really elemental last week.
As I am about to go to wild and woolly north Wales for eight days and will miss next weekend's HC semis my wish for the supporters is that their teams play as well as they can. If that happens then we can all safely say that the better team won each of the games. Undoubtedly some of you will be disappointed (as I was on Easter Sunday, especially when I returned to pick up my puppy and was told she had eaten a bird off of my cousin's bird feeding table!). However, if your team really do play as well as they can - you can, in true rugby fashion, say well done to the opposition and then decide who to support n the final.
I shall miss the final as well as I will be visiting daughter that weekend. So my absence is not just because Munster have no further interest in the HEC - simply a busy life.

How big is this puppy? How big was the bird? The Ulster Rugby public has a right to know!

Not sure how big the bird was. Puppy is 9 months old and very very fast. But she still is quite circumspect about chasing the heron that is harassing our fish ...

A number of the Welsh 7s team could become very good players.
They need some better (and more adaptable) forwards at 7s.

In from the pub after what was a largely good evening. Some middle aged chavs decided to go a bit ott with the 'England stuff' once the 'wifebeater' had kicked in later on.
I hate that type, they give the rest of us a bad rep.
Peace
