The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Edinburgh
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has ventured to Edinburgh, as the team has made their first ever Heineken Cup Semi Final.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Martyn Williams, Shane Williams, Paddy Jackson, Paul O'Connell and Tim Visser.

No.no mrsp,
See my previous post, I was supposed to be working till 00:15 but I got knocked off early that's all.
However things now get a little awkward because I was hoping to get home when everyone was on bed, but that's not going to happen and I'm going to have to deal with the advances of a drunk housemate,, who is not my cup of tea

Evening all, we played a team made up of England Indoor netball squad members tonight, lead them by one at half time, were level at 3/4 time but couldn't quite hang on, lost 21-19 . So close to some really good bragging rights.

Pretty unnecessary comment there Glas.
My son's first rugby coach spent 12 hours or there abouts in theatre today have fairly major surgery. This guy is one of the reasons the wee fella loves rugby so much. He saw beyond the wee messer that he was/is and recognised and nurtured his abilities. Surgery this serious is about the only thing that would keep him from Lansdowne Road on Saturday. Made me promise to shout loudly enough to make up for his and his wife and kids' absence.
Get well soon big lad!

Morning. Horrible day isn't it. Not a nice drive to work today. Driving over the Severn Bridge might be interesting later too.

Eh? He's had to appologise for calling his opponent a cheat. Is one not allowed to pass comment, or is he only allowed to be referred to as an Ulsterman (constantly by Dennis Taylor) if he's winning?

Allen should not have made those comments at a press conference Glas but he has a right to highlight that cheating is unacceptable in snooker. I dont see why he needs to apologise to be honest. Cao did cheat.

Bore da pawb / good morning all, please.
Billy, is there any footage of Cao's alleged cheating? Just wondering.
Hell of a result for Chelsea last night, but some of the text comments (I had to follow the match on the BBC website) were ridiculous. 'Torres - worth the £50 million now!' Well he could have missed and they'd still have gone through. But this is the biggest joke of all:
'At first Terry claimed he was innocent by saying: “The player checked his run and piled into the back of me. He put his weight on the back foot, that’s why my knee went up.
"I’ve not had a booking in the Champions League this year. I would not deliberately strike another player. That would be madness.”
But after watching the incident on an TV replay, Terry admitted: “At the time, I was bewildered because I was trying to protect myself a little bit, but looking at it on the replay, I’ve no complaints. I’ve let the lads down.
"I deserved to be sent off. I tried to protect myself and raised my knee, but realise I should not have done. I’m not that type of player."'

There is on Youtube Lucky, it was pretty poor and he even looked at the ref but the ref gave nothing so he played on. Wenbo had the same in the final frame decider against Higgins but called it himself, all but handing the match to Higgins. That was class and professionalism.

Ah, well if he fouled and didn't call it, that is pretty poor. But didn't Mark Allen go on to say that all the Chinese players cheat?

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Edinburgh
He said that it is common in the Chinese players which was a really stupid thing to say considering what Wenbo had done only a day before.
As i said, it was a stupid for him to say this at a press conference when emotions were still high and any hint towards generalisation is wrong.
A great snooker player but i think that he is a little bit socially challenged at times.

86,932 at the ANZAC game... it's only the 12th biggest crowd between Collingwood and Essendon.
72-65 to the Magpies at the moment... 7 minutes left.

He is a good snooker player, no question about that. He just needs to wind his neck in at times!

Morning all. I'll have some of that and a crispy bacon sarnie please.
Mark Allen is generally a tw@t. Can't seem to keep his mouth shut when he needs to. He was right that the guy fouled and should have called it, but wrong in the way he went about making his statement afterwards.

That's the Richmond Tigers, Rava. Collingwood black & white vertical stripes, Essendon are black with diagonal red sash.
The other matches are on now. Roosters v Saints and then Melbourne v NZ in the NRL.

Breaker, there's a lot of interest from the AFL clubs around a young Dublin player called Ciaran Kilkenny. Do you think you could perhaps put out the message to these teams and tell them to feic off and leave our young fellas alone?
Thanks.

Billy, not only was Jim Stynes Irish, but he was, more importantly, a Dub. His brother (Brian) won an All Ireland with Dublin in 1995.

Great tune Biltong. #1 in the UK the day I was born.
Lucky, once upon a time the "AFL" was called "VFL" (that term was used in an economics text book at high school which rather confused us).

I saw a thread on another forum saying how much better amatuer rugby was and it should go back that way. Whatever about pros and cons would that even be possible.
Id imagine its near impossible to change a sport from professional back to amatuer

All this talk about GayFL, of all the Ozzies I've lived with/known not one of them liked the sport, hence the GayFL title
