The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Edinburgh
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has ventured to Edinburgh, as the team has made their first ever Heineken Cup Semi Final.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Martyn Williams, Shane Williams, Paddy Jackson, Paul O'Connell and Tim Visser.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Edinburgh
Leinster are really the only team not in virgin territory in truth.
Even discounting the fact the only relationship any of our current squad have to 1999 was watching in the stands, its a different kettle of fish for Ulster this saturday. Ulster were in a semi-final in 1999 which was held in our own ground with a squad that was a mix of full-time professionals and semi-professionals with day jobs and just one coach.
There's no comparison to what it is to play a semi-final now compared to then. This is a new thing, to be playing in the national stadium with some players who have come from outside the province and all the attendant apparatus of a professional side.

I know it's not the best way to settle it and can be cruel, but I love a penalty shoot out. Bet the Bernabeu will be noisy with these boos.

Is that where X Keys play, Rev?
Bliwdy heck, how are we non-Irish going to console one half of Ireland after this weekend and stop the westies leaping up and down with enjoyment?

Awesome night of football. Good point raised on the bbc sports feed. Who'd have thought that 2 of the worlds best players would miss crucial penalties, 24 hours apart in a champions league semi. I had money on a all Spanish semi. Very dissapointing.

Good luck MBTGOG.
Cross Keys: G David, K Baller, L Andrews, P Williams, N Trowbridge, J Tovey, R Dyer, R Cornock, G Price, M Jones, D Hodge, T Lampard, R Peebles, R Nash (captain), J Groves. Replacements: J Sollis, C Gould, L Rawlins, C Trayhern, M Popham, L Williams, O Jones.
So Tovey is playing. Leon Andrews v Danny Barnes in the centre will be good. That side is as expected though. The two wingers are pretty decent. I really like Rob Nash as a player and I am hoping the front five go well. Richard Cornock has been picking yellows up recently though.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Edinburgh
We have had an interesting night.
Awakened by the dog barking at 2.15am ish to find the whole place a whirl of blue flashing lights.
Discovered that some man seemed to have decided we needed a new entrance to the garden when there was a perfectly servicable one 20 feet further down the road.
What a way to start your day. 3 fire engines, an ambulance, I don't know how many Police cars and a BMW stuck half way through the wall!
I immediately thought of William!

Jinkies mrs p! Surprised the piercing sound of a dog barking wakes you and not the sound of a car crashing through a wall. What became of the driver?

Given the damage to wall and car he appeared remarkably unscathed once he'd been cut out of his Beamer.
Still not sure quite how they got the car out of the wall. We'd gone back to bed by then.

They're scrummagers too. I would love the Dragons to give them a crack. They just need a bit of guidance fitness wise. God knows, the Dragons need a scrum.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Edinburgh
At least the cops noticed the hole in the wall this time.
Last time we had a similar episode I went out to offer assistance. The Police Officer told me I had to leave as it was a crime scene! When I explained that I lived here he asked in a pretty shirty tone,
"Well, is there any damage to your property?"
Now, given that this conversation was taking place right beside the car which was where our wall used to be, I wasn't quite sure what to say.
So I turned my head towards the 15 foot hole and ruble scattered 30 feet across our garden. The cop followed my rather confused gaze and then...
"Oh! I didn't notice that!"
Detective skilled honed to perfection there!

He plays for Newport. I played alongside him in a memorial game at Risca last year. Tidy player. Plays 10 for Newport, played 9 for us.

Mrs P, a couple of observations.
1. Given this isn't the first time this has happened (I have seen the previous repair), why not just move the entrance to you drive?
2. Did you get the cooker on and offer the guys some soup? If not this could be the reason for the Poopie tone.
Morning again everyone else
