The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Edinburgh
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has ventured to Edinburgh, as the team has made their first ever Heineken Cup Semi Final.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Martyn Williams, Shane Williams, Paddy Jackson, Paul O'Connell and Tim Visser.

Have you not been paying attention to my whines Lucky. First game they've covered in this competition and they put it on at 17:30 on a Friday so it doesn't clash with Toulon and Stade. Absolute shambles, with no consideration for the supporters who actually want to attend.

The wifi on this stenaline boat is utterly shocking. Anytime I exit out of the browser or radio it makes me log in again when I next go back in.

There's nothing on the BBC's Welsh rugby page about Munster v Cross Keys. They do, however, have an article about Jersey because Ben Evans coaches them.

Sure Big Griff is always angry, whether people show up on time or not!
Lucky - with regards to spiders, make sure every year you put conkers in the corner of the rooms, that keeps the spiders away (I didn't believe it at first, but it's worked for me the last 2 years, either that or I've just been v v lucky!)
Munsty - I know your exam has already started, but I am sending positive vibes your way, hope it all goes okay for you
MrsP - not sure I'd have been able to get to sleep after all that comotion!

The Argus website has been pretty good for coverage on the Keys game. It's a much better paper for rugby now Chris Kirwan is writing instead of that idiot Robin Davey.

apparently the spiders don't like the smell of them or something, I honestly don't know! Tis an old wive's tale, but it's seemingly worked for the last two years so am not going to stop doing it now.

It always made me laugh that Robin Davey was billed (or billed himself) as 'the most controversial voice in Gwent sport'. He never had much competition really, did he?

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Edinburgh
Morning again.
Just back from school. I am going to watch P4 in a tag rugby blitz now but it's raining cats and dogs out there!
Rava,
This guy managed to hit the wall about 20 feet the other side of the gate from the last one. Short of making the whole frontage of the place our "gate" I think we'll just have to put up with it. Didn't even get the chance to offer refreshment the last time and then wasn't sure a bloke who hadn't noticed the 20 foot gap in the wall he was standing beside could be trusted with hot liquids.
Hughie,
We did go out and check there was nothing we could do. Not much to be gained by all of us standing out in the cold waiting for the breakdown truck to arrive.
Dreamer,
It was very difficult to get back to sleep again. Apart from the distruption at the time there was quite a bit of coming and going and flashing lights.
This morning we found the police had left the name plate of the road and the front number plate of the car on our doorstep! Quite a bit of the front of the car is still in the garden. Amazingly it looks like a tree eventually stopped the car after it had made it through 2 feet of stone wall!

You read my mind... was thinking exactly the same.
Dreamer, sorry about the spider story yesterday. You don't get them in the cities where it's all been concreted over. That one was up north in the jungle.
You'll be pleased to know that I've not had one in the last 18 months or so. It must be all the rain.

Hope its not Cairns!! I know my boss was saying that there were bats everywhere when they were having a drink up there.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Edinburgh
Yes, that's where it was. Just near your hotel, Staggy... (It is full on tropical up there you know!)
I get bats outside my window here. Actually, they're flying foxes but we call them 'bats'. They love going to the Botanical Gardens near the city to feast on all the exotic fruits from the trees there.
My cousin made a film about them a while back. They do a triangular circuit... returning to their homes in the bush in the early morning. The numbers seem to be getting bigger each year... they're in the tens of thousands now.

There's a T junction at the P's place and when approaching on the minor road the end of the road appears quicker than some expect to. So basically he don't stop in time.

Some way-out views here:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-17826515
Feminist activist and writer Julie Bindel: 'People need to recognise that pornography is a depiction of horrific sexual violence'. You what?
(I was going to write 'come again?' but that would have been unwise.)

Ah no just getting prepared for next season. When a team comes on tour, they obviously dont want to win by a load or lose by a load. So we try to get an even match by basing it on who is doing around the same.
So a team losing every match wont be put with a team winning every game. Its not foolproof but generally works.

Notch, bats aren't evil, they're awesome. The only mammals (apart from us) to have the gumption to learn how to fly.

Yep As, I defo have. been working it out with the misus and cleared a few things up but now there is a Family thing on the night of the 19th as well. and there is a running thing going on about me never going to anything like that. It's usually cause of the rugby so I just said I will keep it simple and take the misus out for dinner after the match to celebrate our anniversary and then head to that party..
Best off making the decision now keep things simple

Done my bit as an acolyte of the capitalist regime in the Alma Mater this morning. The Head wanted an inspirational speech to the fifth form (year 26 or whatever they are now) when they received their Records of Achievement. I opted for - study hard, do sport and socialise and you'll be a rounded individual who can manage his time and be valuable to prospective employers. Also they will all get a break, they just have to be ready to pounce at it, and other such platitudes. I almost welled up at the end too, the soppy old git that I am.
