First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has ventured to Cross Keys, as their team is in the British and Irish Cup Final.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Richie McCaw, George Smith, Robert Nash,Billy Holland, John Muller, Greg Laidlaw, Aurelien Rougerie, Leo Cullen, Rhys Thomas and Iestyn Thomas.

Dodgy driving out earlier. Really bad conditions.

Clermont supporters look brilliant. I like their warm up tops too.

Mrs Penfro - same here, have really liked Clermont since Stevo's days. Add to that Regan has now moved there and there's still a Welshman in the HEC through Lee Byrne playing for them...tis a no brainer for me (sorry Leinster regs! Hug) I just want it to be a good match Smile

Judging on Friday, Rhys Dyer could (9), Marc Jones could (3) and Gerwyn Price (2). Gareth David (15) had a decent enough game too, as did Leon Andrews (13) defensively.

Did you want Edinburgh to win or Ulster to lose. There is a difference.

Rev good to know. It sounds like their props did well in particular.

Should Leo Cullen have been given a card there, irrespective of the acting by the Clermont player?

So presumably Leo Cullen's punch didn't merit a yellow because it wasn't as clean a punch as Stefan Terblanche's on Ross Ford yesterday... Headscratch

Two things Notch, not only was he offside, but he was off his feet when he was interfering so no question what his intent was. Secondly he was five yards from his own line, Edinburgh had quick ball and were attacking. That ramps up the cynicism.

Sorry Glas, misread your post.

Definite yellow. Not red.

Red cards are designed for serious foul play. This doesnt come under that category.

It would be completely unprecedented.

Like Stag says, the point of a red card is to punish violent play. It's for punches, gouges, bites, headbutts etc.

I think Barnes maybe bottled that one. Still, if it was a lower-end punch surely a yellow would suffice?

That's not enough from Wayne Barnes. Leinster should have had a final warning there. Too many penalties.

Shocking, shocking from Wayne Barnes. Yet more penalties from Leinster, on their own line, and still no yellow card. ASM have every right to be furious.

Ah thats ok I thought they were doing it to Fofana. You know that French booing your own players thing they do for national team.

Luckless, whats there to say. Leinster should have got at least two yellow cards and Barnes was apalling.

Nigel Owens should have refereed this. It is astounding that Barnes who was removed by the IRB elite panel was picked ahead of him.

Apparently Cullen punched someone in the last ruck as well as his punch earlier in the game.

Yeah to win the game. Which they did. Only Cullen did anything particularly heinous with his punch. Everything else was just indiscipline in the heat of the moment.

They also have a responsibility to play within the laws of the game Notch OK

Rev - I hope Nige get's the final too, he was absolutely spot on with that penalty kick from Sextons, fair play to him Smile

Stag - ah i did wonder why that Clermont player went a bit nuts at Cullen at the end then, seemed absolutely no reason for it at the time.

In the second to last ruck, a clermont player attacked Cullens head. It was so blatant and in the open that i am suprised nothing has been said about it.
